For the conqueror in every truck, Jeep or SUV owner, the ARIES grille guard offers the tough, trail-ready look you demand. It begins with a one-piece frame of 1/4" thick welded plates and 1-1/2" mandrel-bent tubing for a solid build. Each one is made with a vehicle-specific design for a better fit, easier install and more secure mounting. The side brush guards are custom-bent to contour to the profile of your vehicle, while the mounting brackets are positioned for a no-drill application. This means pre-existing factory holes are used to ensure optimum fitment and less vibration. This particular custom grille guard fits specific years of the Honda Ridgeline (see application info to verify). The ARIES grille guard also makes it easy to customize the look of your vehicle. Not only does the crossbar have two pre-drilled holes for mounting aftermarket LED lights, but many of our grille guards are also available in two finish options -- polished stainless steel or semi-gloss black steel. The stainless steel grille guard is made with 304 stainless, being high in nickel content and truly resistant to rust and corrosion. This option comes with a mirror-like polished finish for a definitive shine. The semi-gloss black grille guard is made with high-strength carbon steel for added strength. It features a tough, dual-layer E-coat and black powder coat finish to protect against rust, scratches and the elements. All ARIES grille guards also come with rubber stripping along the risers to protect the frame against scuffs and scratches.

The kit includes: 1 grille guard, 2 driver/left and 2 passenger/right frame and support brackets (4 total), 2 top support brackets, 8 10mm lock washers, 8 10mm hex nuts, 2 8-1.25mm x 25mm button head bolts, 2 8mm x 24mm OD x 2mm flat washers, 2 8mm lock washers, 1 wrench, 4 6-1.0mm x 25mm hex bolts, 8 10-1.5mm x 30mm hex bolts, 8 6mm x 22mm x 2mm flat washers, 16 10mm x 27mm OD x 3mm flat washers, and 4 6mm lock washers.
Yes, this grille guard is designed specifically for the 2017 Honda Ridgeline.
Assistance is recommended. The manual specifically states 'Assistance is Recommended' in the procedure section, particularly when attaching the grille guard to the frame brackets in step 8.
Yes, cutting is required. You must cut slots in the plastic splash guard to clear the support brackets and frame brackets, and cut out an approximately 2" x 2" square area around the large frame bolt. You will also need to cut slots in the top plastic cover to clear the top support brackets. Use a sharp knife or hacksaw blade for these cuts.
Yes, you must temporarily loosen or remove the air intake to provide clearance for installing the driver-side (left) top support bracket. The manual states 'Temporarily loosen or remove the air intake to provide clearance to install for driver/right Top Support Bracket. Do not reinstall intake at this time.' This is done in step 7 before the grille guard is fully attached.
You must remove: the large center plastic splash guard under the bumper (held by two-piece push-in clips), the plastic cover on top of the radiator, and temporarily loosen or remove the air intake. The splash guard and radiator cover are reinstalled after cutting, but the air intake removal is temporary during bracket installation.
1. Remove the plastic splash guard and radiator cover. 2. Install the passenger/right support bracket to the cross member using the factory hex bolt. 3. Loosen (do not remove) the large frame bolt and slide the passenger/right frame bracket under it. 4. Connect the support bracket to the frame bracket with a 10mm x 30mm hex bolt, washers, and nut. 5. Repeat steps 2–4 for the driver/left side. 6. Install the top support brackets to the radiator core support using 6mm hex bolts and washers. 7. Attach the grille guard to the frame brackets. 8. Attach the top support brackets to the grille guard using 8mm button head bolts. 9. Level and tighten only the cross member bolts. 10. Remove the grille guard and frame brackets, then cut the splash guard and radiator cover. 11. Reinstall everything and fully tighten all hardware.
After leveling and tightening only the support bracket to cross member bolts, you must remove the grille guard and frame brackets to access the plastic splash guard and cut it to clear the brackets. The manual states: 'Remove the Grille Guard and Frame Brackets. IMPORTANT: Only loosen the larger frame bolts enough to remove Frame Brackets. Do not fully loosen or remove the large frame bolts.' This allows you to mark and cut the splash guard while it is held in its original position, then reinstall everything.
Most fasteners should remain snug but not fully tightened until the grille guard is leveled and adjusted. Specifically: the support bracket to cross member hex bolt (step 2), the frame bracket to support bracket connection (step 4), the top support bracket to radiator core support bolts (steps 6–7), and the grille guard to frame bracket bolts (step 8). Only the support bracket to cross member bolts are fully tightened during step 10 for leveling. All other hardware is fully tightened in step 12 after the splash guard and radiator cover are cut and reinstalled.
The 8mm flat washers are used as spacers between the top support brackets and the radiator core support. One washer is placed over the hole in the support bracket and one over the hole in the top of the radiator core support before attaching the bracket with 6mm hex bolts. These spacers ensure proper alignment and clearance.
After leveling the grille guard and tightening the cross member bolts, remove the grille guard and frame brackets. Hold the splash guard up to its original location and mark where the support brackets are located. Use a sharp knife or hacksaw blade to cut slots to clear the brackets. Also cut out an approximately 2" x 2" square area around the large frame bolt to clear the inner end of the frame brackets. Hold the frame brackets up to the cover to verify clearance before reinstalling.
Do not cut through the front or back edge of the air dam. The manual specifically warns: 'Do not cut through the front or back edge of the air dam.' This preserves the structural integrity of the splash guard.
After the grille guard is fully installed, line up the top plastic cover over the two top support brackets and mark their locations on the cover. Cut slots to clear the top support brackets. The manual emphasizes: 'Slowly close the hood to check for clearance.' This ensures the hood closes properly without interference.
Only loosen the large frame bolt enough to slide the frame bracket under the head of the bolt. The manual emphasizes twice: 'Only loosen the frame bolt enough to slide the Bracket under the head of the bolt. Do not fully loosen or remove the rear frame bolt.' This maintains the structural integrity of the frame while allowing bracket installation.
Use a small flat blade screwdriver to pry the center pin of each two-piece push-in clip up, then remove the entire clip. The manual notes: 'There may be several two-piece push-in clips holding the splash guard up to the vehicle. Pry the center pin of the clip up with a small flat blade screwdriver and remove the entire clip.' Pay close attention to the type and location of all factory hardware for reinstallation.
Wax the product after installing to protect your investment. Regular waxing is recommended to add a protective layer over the finish. For stainless steel finishes, aluminum polish may be used to polish small scratches and scuffs, and mild soap may be used to clean. For gloss black finishes, use only mild soap to clean. Do not use any type of polish or wax that may contain abrasives, as these could damage the finish.
Do periodic inspections to ensure that all hardware is secure and tight. The manual states: 'Do periodic inspections to the installation to make sure that all hardware is secure and tight.' This helps maintain the structural integrity and safety of the installation.
