It begins with a one-piece frame of 1/4" thick welded plates and 1-1/2" mandrel-bent tubing for a solid build. Each one is made with a vehicle-specific design for a better fit, easier install and more secure mounting. The side brush guards are custom-bent to contour to the profile of your vehicle, while the mounting brackets are positioned for a no-drill application. This means pre-existing factory holes are used to ensure optimum fitment and less vibration. This particular custom grille guard fits specific years of the Toyota Tacoma (see application info to verify). The ARIES grille guard also makes it easy to customize the look of your vehicle. Not only does the crossbar have two pre-drilled holes for mounting aftermarket LED lights, but many of our grille guards are also available in two finish options -- polished stainless steel or semi-gloss black steel. The stainless steel grille guard is made with 304 stainless, being high in nickel content and truly resistant to rust and corrosion. This option comes with a mirror-like polished finish for a definitive shine. The semi-gloss black grille guard is made with high-strength carbon steel for added strength. It features a tough, dual-layer E-coat and black powder coat finish to protect against rust, scratches and the elements. All ARIES grille guards also come with rubber stripping along the risers to protect the frame against scuffs and scratches.

Additionally, the plastic cover between the top of the radiator and the grille must be removed to access the steel cross-member. The air dam is reinstalled after cutting slots to clear the mounting brackets.
Yes, cutting is required. The plastic front lower air dam must be cut to clear the frame mounting brackets and grille guard. Use a sharp knife or hacksaw blade to carefully cut slots in the air dam. The manual recommends starting with a small opening and cutting as little as possible to clear the brackets. Use masking tape or a marker to trace the bracket locations on the back of the air dam before cutting.

The factory hex bolt removed from the bottom of the frame cross-member in Step 2 is reused to attach the lower mounting tab of the frame mounting bracket to the threaded hole in the bottom of the cross-member. Installation follows this sequence: (1) Remove the plastic air dam and factory hex bolt from the passenger side frame cross-member. (2) Install the passenger side frame mounting bracket using a bolt plate and plastic retainer. (3) Repeat for the driver side. (4) Install the passenger side top bracket to the radiator cross-member using a bolt plate. (5) Repeat for the driver side. (6) Position the grille guard and attach it to the mounting brackets. (7) Attach the top brackets to the grille guard. (8) Align the grille guard and tighten all frame bracket hardware. (9) Cut the air dam to clear the brackets and reinstall it. (10) Fully tighten all hardware.
Hardware tightening is staged: (1) In Step 4, the passenger side frame bracket top tab is left loose. (2) In Step 7, the passenger side top bracket hardware is not tightened. (3) In Step 10, the top bracket to grille guard hardware is not tightened. (4) In Step 11, only the frame bracket to frame hardware is tightened after aligning the grille guard. (5) In Step 12, after cutting and reinstalling the air dam, all hardware is fully tightened. This staged approach ensures proper alignment before final tightening.
