Equip your vehicle with this robust hitch to safely tow your gooseneck trailer. The removable ball can be stored upside down in the hitch when not in use, providing complete bed access. The square ball base is designed to stay put in the hitch.
The B&W Turnoverball under-bed gooseneck trailer hitch offers the best of both worlds. It provides a sturdy, reliable connection with your gooseneck trailer for towing, and when not in use, the ball can be stowed upside down in the hitch for full bed access and a clean look.
The durable steel hitch ball included with the Turnoverball system is secured in the hitch with a sturdy, 5/8" thick steel pin integrated into the end of the operating handle. To lock the ball in place, drop it into the hitch hole in your truck bed. Then rotate the handle in your driver's-side wheel well counterclockwise until the latch engages. When the latch is engaged, the spring-loaded pin on the end of the handle will be inserted all the way through the base of the hitch ball, forming a strong, solid connection for secure towing.
When you're done towing, remove the hitch ball by pulling the handle out as far as it will go and then rotating it clockwise until it unlatches. Flip the ball upside down and drop it back into the ball hole of the hitch. Then reengage the latch to secure the stowed ball in place.
The Turnoverball hitch ball is designed with a square base, unlike typical gooseneck balls with round bases. This design makes latching the ball in the hitch easier as the base won't rotate inside of the hitch, making pin alignment a breeze. The base of the ball also fits tightly within the ball hole during storage, preventing any dirt or grime buildup that could cause the ball to seize up in the hitch.
This hitch is custom designed for your vehicle. The included mounting brackets bolt to existing holes in your truck's frame. While some modification is required - you will need to cut a 4" diameter hole in your bed for the hitch ball and drill holes for the built-in safety chain loops - there is no need to weld onto or to drill into your frame.
Once you have the hitch brackets and body installed, set up the operating handle. This handle is designed to be accessed from the rear driver's-side wheel well. On the end of the handle is the heavy-duty steel pin that secures the hitch ball.
B&W makes it easy to tow just about anything. With the many adapters and accessories available, the Turnoverball can be made to work with almost any gooseneck trailer. Hitch balls are available that have a built-in rise, an offset, and even a different connection type. Add on the Companion fifth-wheel hitch - which attaches directly to the Turnoverball with no other parts required - and you can tow your fifth-wheel trailer.

B&W Trailer Hitches is an American manufacturer known for building innovative, dependable towing products designed to make hitching easier and towing more comfortable. The company began in 1987 in Humboldt, Kansas, when founders Roger Baker and Joe Works combined their fabrication experience to build custom truck beds and solve common problems faced by truck owners.
B&W changed the gooseneck hitch industry with the introduction of the Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch. Its under-bed mounting system and reversible hitch ball allowed truck owners to quickly store the ball beneath the bed, leaving a clean and unobstructed surface when the hitch was not in use. B&W later applied the same practical approach to the Companion Fifth Wheel Hitch, creating a removable fifth-wheel hitch engineered for a quiet, smooth, and secure towing experience.
Today, B&W manufactures gooseneck hitches, fifth-wheel hitches, receiver hitches, ball mounts, and towing accessories at its nearly 600,000-square-foot facility. The company is owned by approximately 500 employee-owners who remain committed to American manufacturing, trusted materials, skilled craftsmanship, and long-lasting product quality.
Whether you are towing a work trailer, livestock trailer, camper, or fifth wheel, B&W Trailer Hitches offers thoughtfully engineered towing equipment built to perform mile after mile.

The 1007R is designed for 2007–2018 Chevrolet and GMC 1500 trucks with long beds and fully boxed frames only. The hitch is designed to fit vehicles in their original, as-manufactured condition. If your truck has replacement parts or other modifications, compatibility is not guaranteed. Inspect your vehicle for modifications before purchasing. Short bed trucks are not listed as compatible; the manual warns that cab clearance on short bed trucks is very limited when towing certain trailers.
The 1007R is designed for long bed trucks only. The manual specifically warns that cab clearance on short bed trucks is very limited when towing certain trailers and recommends measuring your trailer to ensure adequate turning clearance between the trailer nose and the truck cab before installation. Short bed trucks are not listed as compatible applications.
The 1007R comes equipped with a 2–5/16" ball. Trailers towed with this ball must have a 2–5/16" coupler. Towing with a larger coupler could cause loss of attachment between the trailer and the tow vehicle.
No. The 1007R comes equipped with a 2–5/16" ball and is designed for trailers with a 2–5/16" coupler only. The manual states that towing with a larger coupler could cause loss of attachment between the trailer and the tow vehicle. Do not modify this product in any manner, as doing so could alter its integrity.
The manual does not specify a tow rating for the hitch itself. You must not exceed the tow or tongue rating of the coupler, the tow or tongue rating of the hitch, or the tow or weight ratings of your truck or trailer. See your vehicle and trailer manufacturer information for specific ratings.
Required tools include: impact wrench or ratchet with 3/4" socket; 1/2" and 3/4" box end wrenches; marking tool (pencil or permanent marker); 4" hole saw; drill with 1/2" bit; flashlight; ear protection; eye protection; torque wrench; pry bar; tape measure; lifting device; and pilot hole bit. A lifting device is optional but recommended to safely hold the hitch in position during installation.
The mounting kit (GNRM1007) includes: driver and passenger side plates, front and rear cross members, side plate clamp, one 5–1/2" × 4–1/4" × 1/2" U-bolt, two 1/2" retainers, two 1/2" frame bushings, two 1/2" locking straps, two 1/2" × 2" carriage bolts, eleven 1/2" × 1–1/2" cap screws, eleven 1/2" finish nuts, seventeen 1/2" lock washers, thirteen 1/2" flat washers, and one O-ring. The center box (GNRC959N) includes the center section, 2–5/16" ball, and latch pin handle. The safety chain kit includes two 1/2" U-bolts, four conical springs, four 1/2" lock nuts, one 5/16" × 3/4" carriage bolt, one 5/16" × 3/4" cap screw, and one 5/16" lock nut.
Yes. You must remove the spare tire following the vehicle manufacturer's instructions before beginning installation. The spare tire is removed to provide access to the area where the hitch is installed.
Yes. A section of the exhaust heat shield must be removed. Locate the bed cross member directly over the axle and the next one forward toward the front of the truck. The section of heat shield between these two cross members must be removed by cutting along the cross members with tin snips or an air chisel. Make sure no heat shield protrudes past the front of the bed cross member that is directly over the axle.
On trucks equipped with gas engines beginning in 2004, a fuel valve is mounted on the rear of the fuel tank and makes it more difficult to install the center section. The manual provides instructions to remove and replace this fuel valve to ease installation. The fuel valve can be easily removed by disengaging the locking pin and sliding it from the bracket, then replaced after the center section is installed.
Yes, lifting the vehicle is recommended. Installation requires the installer to work under the truck bed in the area of the rear axle. Lifting the vehicle makes this area more accessible and improves the installation process. Use only equipment designed for lifting and positioning vehicles for service. Failure to use proper lifting equipment may result in property damage, serious injury, or death.
Using a tape measure hooked over the rear edge of the bed at the tailgate end, measure 49 inches from the rear for an 8-foot long bed. Locate the center of the bed by measuring the distance between the wheel wells and dividing by two. The center of the hole will be at the intersection of the center of the bed and the distance measured from the rear. If your truck has a spray-in bed liner, add the thickness of the liner to your measurement. If the bed has a plastic bed liner, the hole may be cut through both the liner and the bed, but the mark may be harder to hit if the liner moves.
Cut the hole in the marked location using a 4-inch hole saw or by marking out the 4-inch hole and using a saber saw equipped with a metal cutting blade. Remove any burrs created while cutting the hole.
Yes. A small notch must be made in the sheet metal flange that hangs down from the bottom of the truck bed floor on the passenger side. Locate the truck bed cross member over the axle in the wheel well on the passenger side. Measure from the front of the cross member and mark 6–1/2 inches. This is the center point for the notch. Mark and cut a 1-inch wide by 1/2-inch tall notch. This allows the front cross member to be installed between the truck frame and bed.
If a fender liner is present that restricts the movement of the latch pin handle, it is recommended that you modify it by cutting a relief slot or hole to allow the handle to move freely. If the liner was removed for installation, reinstall it after the hitch is installed.
Yes. To ease installation of the center section, remove the tail pipe hanger from the rubber mount by prying the pin out of the rubber mount. Once this is done, a spacer can be placed between the frame and tail pipe to add clearance between the tail pipe and the bottom of the truck bed. Re-attach the exhaust bracket after installation is complete.
The tightening sequence is critical. First, tighten the center section bolts to 110 ft-lbs. Next, tighten the side plate clamps alternating slowly between the top and bottom legs of the U-bolt so they are equally tightened to 40 ft-lbs. Then tighten the bolts holding the side plates to the front and rear hitch cross members to 110 ft-lbs. Finally, tighten the rear side plate studs to 110 ft-lbs.
The center section bolts must be tightened to 110 ft-lbs. These are the 1/2" × 1–1/2" bolts that attach the front cross member to the center section and the four 1/2" × 1–1/2" bolts that attach the rear leg of the center section to the rear cross member.
The side plate clamps must be tightened to 40 ft-lbs. Tighten them by alternating slowly between the top and bottom legs of the U-bolt so they are equally tightened.
The bolts holding the side plates to the front and rear hitch cross members must be tightened to 110 ft-lbs. These are the 1/2" × 1–1/2" bolts that attach the front flange of the side plate to the front angle cross member and the 1/2" × 1–1/2" cap screws that attach the side plate to the rear bar.
The rear side plate studs must be tightened to 110 ft-lbs.
Tighten the 1/2" lock nut on each leg of the safety chain U-bolts until the nut is flush with the end of the U-bolt.
Insert the handle through the slot in the end of the center section on the driver side of the truck. Align the handle eyelet with the square hole in the latch pin so the handle is in line with the latch. Secure the handle to the pin with the 5/16" × 3/4" carriage bolt and 5/16" locking flange nut. The included 5/16" cap screw can replace the carriage bolt if wrench access on the cab side of the handle is limited. Tighten the nut until it is secure, but do not over-tighten and deform the handle eyelet. The latch pin will not function properly if the handle is not installed correctly.
Before towing, perform a visual inspection of the hitch. Check that all pinned connections are secure and that all bolted connections are at the correct torque specification. Check for cracks or damage to the hitch. Do not tow with the hitch if cracks or damage outside of normal wear is found. Also verify that the hitch cross members are spaced about the same from side to side on the frame.
After installation is complete: (1) Replace the spare tire if it was removed. (2) Retract the pin by pulling the handle out all the way until it stops, then slide it toward the cab. The handle should stay in this position. (3) Modify the fender liner if necessary by cutting a relief slot or hole to allow the handle to move freely. (4) Apply a light coating of grease to the corners on the square shank of the 2–5/16" ball. (5) Engage the pin by moving the handle toward the rear of the truck until the handle retracts and engages the 2–5/16" ball. (6) Re-read all warnings on the front page of the instructions.
Do not exceed the tow or tongue rating of the coupler, hitch, truck, or trailer. Understand all risks involved with towing before proceeding. For towing safety information, see "The Trailer Handbook: A Guide to Understanding Trailer and Towing Safety" from the National Association of Trailer Manufacturers (www.NATM.com) and your trailer manufacturer's owner's manual. When towing a wedge car trailer, keep the center of gravity as low as possible by loading heavy cars over the axles. Never tow with a single car on the front of the trailer. Never exceed speeds that are reasonable for the roadway conditions. Failure to account for proper trailer center of gravity and speeds may cause damage to the truck, trailer, towing components, and loss of attachment between the truck and trailer.
No. Do not operate the tow vehicle while the latch is in the open position. Operating with the latch open may allow the handle to come into contact with the rear tire, which may damage the tire or the handle and could lead to serious injury or death. The latch should only be put in the open position when inverting the 2–5/16" ball or installing a B&W towing accessory.
No. Inverting the ball while hauling heavy loads may cause the ball to strike the truck's differential, driveline, or other components. Inspect the relationship between the ball and truck components to ensure proper clearance before inverting the ball. Failure to remove the ball when hauling heavy loads may result in property damage, injury, or death. A cover to prevent debris from entering the socket while operating without the ball in place is available from B&W.
Adding the Turnoverball hitch to the chassis of a vehicle can be hazardous. There is potential for unexpected combustion of fuel, electric shock, burns, shifting or falling of an unstable vehicle, damage to the vehicle, injury from tool usage, and many other hazards. Installation must be completed by someone aware of these hazards and knowledgeable of proper safety procedures for vehicle modifications and equipment usage. Most trucks have fuel lines, brake lines, electrical wires, or other vehicle systems located along the frame rails or in the general area where the hitch installs. Carefully examine the locations of these systems before installation and ensure they are not damaged during positioning hitch components, drilling holes, or tightening fasteners. Damage to these systems may result in property damage, serious injury, or death. Turnoverball hitch components are heavy and may be cumbersome to handle. Use proper lifting techniques and caution when handling these items to avoid serious injury.
The handle operates in a very tight space within the wheel well of the truck. Use caution when operating the handle so that your hands and fingers do not get injured on the sharp edges of the truck or by getting pinched against the frame due to the force of the spring-loaded latch pin. When installed properly, the latch pin will pass through the 2–5/16" ball and fully engage through both walls of the hitch receiver. Failure of the pin to engage the ball and hitch properly could result in a loss of attachment between the trailer and the tow vehicle.
A visual inspection of the hitch should be performed before each time you tow. Regularly check that all pinned connections are secure and that all bolted connections are at the correct torque specification. Check for cracks or damage to the hitch. Do not tow with the hitch if cracks or damage outside of normal wear is found. Apply a light coating of grease to the corners on the square shank of the 2–5/16" ball.
