The B&W Turnoverball underbed gooseneck trailer hitch offers the best of both worlds. It provides a sturdy, dependable connection with your gooseneck trailer for towing, and when you're done, you can stow the ball upside down in the hitch for full bed access and a clean appearance.
The durable steel hitch ball secures in the hitch with a sturdy, 5/8" thick steel pin incorporated into the end of the operating handle. To lock the ball in place, drop it into the hitch hole in the bed of your truck, then rotate the handle counterclockwise until the latch engages. When you're done towing, simply pull the handle out, rotate it clockwise until it unlatches, remove the ball, flip it upside down, and drop it back into the ball hole of the hitch. Then reengage the latch to secure the stowed ball in place.

The B&W Turnoverball Gooseneck Hitch Model 1320 (part number 1320-1-1021) is a gooseneck hitch designed specifically for 2019–2026 RAM 2500 and 3500 trucks. It comes equipped with a 2-5/16" ball and is designed to fit vehicles in their original, "as manufactured" condition. Compatibility with vehicles having replacement parts or other modifications is not guaranteed.
The Turnoverball hitch comes equipped with a 2-5/16" ball. Trailers towed with this ball must have a 2-5/16" coupler. Towing with a larger coupler could cause loss of attachment between the trailer and the tow vehicle.
The hitch is designed for both 2019–2026 RAM 2500 and 3500 trucks, but the installation procedures differ slightly. The latch pin handle assembly uses different hole locations: the holes at the end of the handle are for RAM 2500 installations (handle flipped up), while holes about 4 inches from the end are for RAM 3500 installations (handle flipped down). No. If your truck's suspension has a stabilizer between the top of the differential housing and the frame, you should not turn the ball over and stow it in the socket. The stowed ball could hit the stabilizer and damage the truck's suspension. Inspect your truck for this component before installation. If present, you must keep the ball in the raised position when not towing.
The Model 1320 can be used with the Companion 5th Wheel RV Hitch Model 3000, but an adapter kit is required to fill voids in the truck bed rib pattern. Call B&W at 800-248-6564 for the adapter kit, or upgrade to a hitch base that does not require the adapter kit (models 3500, 3400, or 3405). Using the Model 3000 without the adapter kit could result in damage to the truck bed. B&W recommends placing the coupler of the Companion 5th Wheel Hitch as close to the cab as possible while still maintaining adequate turning clearance.
Required tools include: impact wrench or ratchet with 10mm, 9/16", and 15/16" sockets; marking tool (pencil or permanent marker); 3.5-inch hole saw; drill with 11/16" and 1/4" bits; flashlight; eye protection; ear protection; torque wrench; lifting device; tape measure; center punch; C-clamp; pry bar; soap and water; ratchet strap; socket extensions; and swivel socket.
The kit (GNRK1320) includes: 1 center section, 1 latch pin handle bracket, 1 latch pin handle, 1 2-5/16" ball, 1 hole template, 2 fastener blocks, 1 safety chain U-bolt guide, 2 5/8" x 2.5" x 4" U-bolts, 4 conical springs, 4 5/8" center lock nuts, 8 5/8" x 1.5" locking cap screws, 4 3/8" x 1" carriage bolts, and 4 3/8" locking flange nuts.
A lifting device is optional but recommended. The manual states that lifting the vehicle makes the installation area more accessible and improves the installation process. A simple mechanical lifting device is available for purchase from B&W. If you choose to lift the vehicle, you must use only equipment designed for lifting and positioning vehicles for service.
Removing the spare tire is optional. The manual states that removing the spare tire will provide easier access to the area where the hitch will be installed. If you choose to remove it, follow the vehicle manufacturer's instructions.
Removing the heat shield is optional. If present, you may remove the bolts connecting the heat shield to the frame and set it aside to improve access during installation. You will reinstall it after the hitch installation is complete.
Cab clearance is critical because short-bed trucks have very limited clearance when towing certain trailers. The manual requires you to measure the distance from the center of the 2-5/16" ball location to the cab, and compare it to the distance from the center of the trailer's coupler to its farthest forward corner point. This ensures you will have adequate clearance between the cab and trailer while towing and turning. Failure to ensure adequate clearance may result in significant property damage or serious injury.
Measure Length A: the distance from the rear-most vertical face of the C-channel frame cross member (over the axle) to the end of the bed, measured from under the truck. Measure Length B: the length of the bed from the rear edge to the front, measured inside the bed. Subtract Length A from Length B, then subtract an additional 5.75 inches. The result is the measurement from the center of the 2-5/16" ball location to the cab. Compare this to the distance from the center of the trailer's coupler to its farthest forward corner point.
Yes. You must disconnect the exhaust hanger located in the rear passenger portion of the truck to provide improved mounting access to the center section. The manual recommends using a pry bar to aid in disconnection. Using soap and water to lubricate the pin and rubber hanger may help. On gas trucks, the exhaust will need to be pulled over towards the driver side. On diesel trucks, the exhaust will need to be pulled straight down to allow the center to fit over the exhaust. You will re-attach the exhaust bracket after installation.
Possibly. Some vehicles are equipped with plastic liners inside the rear wheel wells. If the liner in the driver side wheel well prevents access to the opening between the bed and the frame just over the axle, it may need to be temporarily removed for handle installation. If removed, you will reinstall it after the hitch installation is complete.
Yes. You must drill a 3.5-inch diameter hole in the truck bed floor and four 11/16-inch holes for the safety chain U-bolts. The 3.5-inch hole is drilled from the top side of the bed using a hole saw or saber saw with a metal cutting blade. The 11/16-inch holes are drilled from the top of the bed using the Safety Chain U-bolt Guide to mark locations. Two of these holes will go through both the frame cross member and the bed. You must remove any burrs created while cutting, especially on the bottom side of the 3.5-inch hole.
Use the hole marking template provided. Position the template above the frame cross member, push it up against the bottom of the truck bed, and move it back until the formed flange is flat against the forward flange of the cross member. Slide the template so the oval hole in the flange aligns with the hole in the cross member. Clamp the template in place. Mark the center using either the small round hole (for trucks with one material thickness on the cross member) or the small square hole (for RAM 3500 trucks with reinforcement plates welded to the frame cross member). Use a center punch to place an indentation, then drill a 1/4-inch pilot hole through the bed at this location.
RAM 3500 trucks with reinforcement plates welded to the frame cross member should use the small square hole in the hole template. Trucks with only one material thickness on the cross member (all other trucks) should use the small round hole. The reinforcement plates add one thickness of material to the cross member, which affects the drilling depth.
Most trucks have fuel lines, brake lines, electrical wires, or other vehicle systems located along the frame rails or in the general area where the hitch installs. You must carefully examine the locations of these systems before drilling holes or tightening fasteners. Damage to these systems may result in property damage, serious injury, or death.
Possibly. If a fender liner is present that restricts the movement of the latch pin handle, it is recommended that you modify it by cutting a relief slot or hole to allow the handle to move freely. If the liner was removed for installation, you will reinstall it after the hitch installation is complete.
1. Remove plastic fasteners from the rear flange of the frame cross member. 2. Cut the 3.5-inch diameter hole in the truck bed floor using the pilot hole and hole saw. 3. Position the center section with the latch pin mechanism on the driver side, lifting it into place at an angle over the exhaust, then positioning it directly under the frame cross member. Start 5/8-inch flange head bolts through the forward and rear flanges into the threaded bushings. Install 5/8-inch flange head bolts into the four holes under the fastener blocks until snug but not fully tight. 4. Check that the hitch socket is centered in the hole and parallel to the frame cross member flanges. 5. Tighten and torque all 5/8-inch bolts to 150 ft-lbs. 6. Secure the plastic fasteners back into the rear flange.
The two fastener blocks must be installed between the bed and the top of the frame cross member so that the flanges of the nuts are down against the cross member and centered over the hitch mounting holes. They may be installed from the front or rear of the frame cross member. The space between the bed and frame cross member is very limited. The nuts must pass over the frame cross member while each is in a different high rib of the truck bed. There is a slight depression in the frame cross member that allows more room for the nuts once they are on top of the cross member. Once the nuts are on top of the cross member, rotate the fastener block so the nuts line up with the holes.
Check the location of the hitch socket inside the 3.5-inch hole in the bed. The socket should be aligned directly in the center of the hole. Rotate the hitch so that it is parallel to the flanges in the frame cross member. When the hitch is parallel to the cross member, the gaps between the threaded bushings and the flanges of the frame cross member will be the same on the passenger and driver sides. The hitch must not be touching the brake lines that are anchored to the frame cross member.
1. Move any wiring that may contact the handle by pulling it down beside the frame on the inside of the truck. 2. Assemble the handle with the bracket using two 3/8-inch carriage bolts and 3/8-inch locking flange nuts, torqued to 30 ft-lbs. Use the holes at the end of the handle for RAM 2500 trucks (handle flipped up) or holes about 4 inches from the end for RAM 3500 trucks (handle flipped down). 3. Retract the latching mechanism by pulling the tab with square holes toward the cab, then insert a 3/8-inch carriage bolt in each square hole from the top down. 4. Thread the handle end in front of the brake lines and over the frame on the driver side. 5. Attach the handle to the latching mechanism with two 3/8-inch locking flange nuts, torqued to 30 ft-lbs. 6. Secure any sensor wires with a wire tie to avoid damage.
For RAM 2500 trucks, use the holes at the end of the handle (the handle will be flipped up). Once the handle is past the bed flange, move to the outside of the truck. The handle will need to be pulled under the plastic fender liner. Pull up on the bottom edge of the liner until it is possible to pull the handle out past the fender liner.
For RAM 3500 trucks, use the holes about 4 inches from the end of the handle (the handle will be flipped down). The handle may be difficult to locate under the plastic fender liner. Making a small cut out in the area above the handle may improve handle visibility.
1. Use the Safety Chain U-bolt Guide to mark the four hole locations in the truck bed. 2. From the top of the bed, drill each hole with an 11/16-inch drill bit, perpendicular to the surface. Two holes will go through both the frame cross member and the bed. A small pilot hole will aid in drilling. 3. From the top side of the truck bed, drop a U-bolt in each set of holes. 4. Place a conical spring over each leg of the U-bolts and secure with a 5/8-inch lock nut. Tighten the lock nut until the nut is flush with the end of the U-bolt.
All 5/8-inch bolts must be torqued to 150 ft-lbs. This includes the four 5/8-inch bolts threaded into the fastener blocks, and the four 5/8-inch bolts in the forward and rear cross member flanges.
All 3/8-inch carriage bolts and 3/8-inch locking flange nuts must be torqued to 30 ft-lbs. This applies to both the latch pin handle bracket assembly and the latch pin handle attachment to the latching mechanism.
The manual does not provide a torque specification in ft-lbs for the 5/8-inch lock nuts on the safety chain U-bolts. It states only to "tighten the lock nut until the nut is flush with the end of the U-bolt."
Yes. The latch pin handle may come into contact with the wiring harness running over the driver side of the frame. You must move the wire from this area by pulling the wiring down beside the frame on the inside of the truck. In some cases, fasteners may be present that will need to be pulled out of the frame. A wire tie may be needed to keep the wire down out of the way of the handle. Additionally, the handle mechanism may contact sensor wires that run along the brake lines in the area above the differential. Tie these wires down to the brake lines with a wire tie or other secure method to avoid damage. When correctly installed, no moving part of the handle should rub on any wires in your truck.
Do not exceed the tow or tongue rating of the coupler, hitch, or truck/trailer. Exceeding these ratings may cause damage to towing components or loss of attachment between the trailer and truck. Trailers must have a 2-5/16" coupler to match the ball provided. Towing with a larger coupler could cause loss of attachment. Without proper knowledge, towing can be dangerous. Understand all risks involved with towing before proceeding. Additional caution must be used when towing a wedge car trailer. Towing stability greatly depends on keeping the center of gravity as low as possible. Load heavy cars over the axles. Never tow with a single car on the front of the trailer. When towing a wedge car trailer, never exceed speeds that are reasonable for the roadway conditions (e.g., turns, going around a curve, etc.). Failure to account for proper trailer center of gravity and speeds that are reasonable for the roadway conditions may cause damage to the truck, trailer, towing components, and loss of attachment between the truck and trailer.
Serious injury can occur due to the pinch point located at the intersection of the latching mechanism and the center section. Keep hands and fingers clear of this area during installation and operation.
Operating the tow vehicle while the latch is in the open position may allow the handle to come into contact with the rear tire. This may damage the tire or the handle and could lead to serious injury or death. The latch should only be put in the open position when inverting the 2-5/16" ball or installing a B&W towing accessory.
Inverting the ball while hauling heavy loads may cause the ball to strike the truck's differential, drive line, or other components. You must inspect the relationship between the ball and truck components to ensure proper clearance. Failure to remove the ball when hauling heavy loads may result in property damage, injury, or death. A cover to prevent debris from entering the socket while operating without the ball in place is available from B&W.
Do not modify this product in any manner. Doing so could alter its integrity and lead to a loss of attachment between the trailer and the tow vehicle.
When installed properly, the latch pin should pass through both sides of the ball socket. With the ball removed, push the handle toward the rear of the truck until the handle retracts and the latch pin engages. Visually inspect the ball socket and verify the latch pin has passed completely through both walls of the socket. Make a mark on the latching mechanism where indicated in the manual to show where the latching mechanism should be when the pin is correctly positioned. Retract the pin, replace the ball, and re-engage the pin. Check the marked location on the latching mechanism. If the mark is in the same location as when the mark was made, then the latch pin has gone completely through the ball socket.
A visual inspection of the hitch should be performed before each time you tow. Regularly check that all pinned connections are secure, and that all bolted connections are at the correct torque specification. Check for cracks or damage to the hitch. Do not tow with the hitch if cracks or damage outside of normal wear is found. Towing with a hitch that has cracks or damage could result in damage to the tow vehicle, trailer, towing components, and loss of attachment between the tow vehicle and trailer.
Apply a light coating of grease to the corners on the square shank of the 2-5/16" ball.
Pull the exhaust back up to the exhaust bracket and re-attach. The manual recommends using soap and water to lubricate the "pin" and the rubber hanger which attach the exhaust hanger to aid in re-attachment.
Pull the handle out all the way until it stops, then slide it toward the cab. The handle should stay in this position. The latch should only be put in this open position when inverting the 2-5/16" ball or installing a B&W towing accessory.
