The BAK Revolver Roll-Up Hard Cover X4ts 15-22 Colorado/Canyon 5' 80126RK (Part #BKDA80126RK) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes. The manual specifies that 8-foot trucks require 8 clamps instead of the standard 6 clamps. Confirm your truck bed length before ordering.
Required tools: 1/8" Allen wrench, 1/2" wrench or socket, 9/16" wrench or socket, and a torque wrench. A second person is recommended to apply downward pressure while tightening clamps.
The manual does not mention drilling. Installation uses clamps that attach to existing truck bed rails and mounting bolts that insert into slotted brackets on the cover rails.
All clamps and the strap clamp assembly are hand-tightened to 10 ft/lbs of torque using a 9/16" wrench or socket. Lock knobs (H) are hand-tightened only after final alignment—do not overtighten.
Yes, but only if the cover is rolled toward the cab and secured with BOTH strap clamps. The strap clamps must be fully inserted into the cover clasps and pulled tight.
Use mild automotive soap and water only. Avoid abrasive cleaners and chemicals such as insect repellents, oils, solvents, and lubricants, as they damage rubber hinges and seals and void the warranty.
Check all clamps and retention mechanisms for tightness after one week of driving following installation, and periodically thereafter. Covers used frequently or on rough roads may require adjustment.
No. Do not tow your vehicle from the rear with the cover on. If rear towing is required, the cover must be removed and properly stored.
The kit includes: 1 rolled cover (E), 2 cover rails (passenger and driver side), 6 clamps (8 for 8' trucks), 2 strap clamp assemblies, 4 lock knobs, 4 large flat washers, 4 rubber washers, 4 mounting bolts, 4 end caps, 1 bulkhead seal, and 4 D-shaped bumpers. If installing to an existing Revolver system, you receive only the rails, clamps, strap clamp assemblies, and hardware.
No. The cover and rails mount directly to your existing truck bed using clamps that attach to the truck bed rails. If you are installing a complete new system (not upgrading an existing Revolver), you will remove the old cover rails and install the new ones in their place.
The order is: 1) rubber washer (J), 2) large flat washer (I), 3) lock knob (H). Install this assembly underneath the slotted bracket on both the passenger and driver side cover rails. Leave the knobs loose until final alignment is complete.
The first clamp should be placed approximately 6 to 9 inches back from the front of the rail, starting at the front and working toward the rear. Make sure the cover rail is clamped square and level. Hand tighten to 10 ft/lbs of torque.
Place the first clamp 6 to 9 inches from the front. For 8-foot beds, place two clamps evenly spaced in the center section of the cover rail. Place the third clamp approximately 12 inches from the tailgate. All clamps are hand-tightened to 10 ft/lbs of torque.
Applying downward pressure to the cover rail while tightening the clamps ensures that the rail sits flush and the seals are properly set. This is critical for proper operation and water sealing.
Clean the top of the bulkhead with soap and water to remove dirt and debris. Then clean with isopropyl alcohol to remove wax or grease and allow to dry. Place the seal flush with the front edge of the bulkhead, snug between the truck bed rails. Peel the backing paper and apply pressure to the entire seal to ensure good adhesion.
Install one end cap on the forward portion only of each cover rail (passenger and driver side) during the early installation steps. Install a second end cap on the rearward portion only of each rail after the cover is rolled open. Tighten the set screw on each end cap with the provided 1/8" Allen wrench.
Align the front vinyl edge of the rolled cover with the front edge of the side rails (not the rubber seal). Verify that a gap of approximately 1/8" (3.2 mm) remains on both sides of the cover between the edge of the cover rail and the rolling cover. If side gaps are not even, loosen the knobs (H) and adjust the cover side to side at the front and/or back. Firmly hand tighten the knobs after alignment.
With the cover rolled open, install the four D-shaped bumpers to the cover slats. Clean the surface where each seal will go with soap and water, then with isopropyl alcohol, and allow to dry. Position the bumpers so they prevent the cover from contacting the cab. Peel the backing paper and apply pressure to ensure good adhesion.
Fold the front panel of the cover back and insert the two mounting bolts (K) into the slotted bracket on each side. The bolts will align with the slotted bracket of the cover rail. Fold the panel back down.
Open and close the rolled cover several times to verify that it rolls freely. The cover should be square with the cover rail and roll freely between the rails. After alignment and final tightening, roll the cover open and recheck that it operates correctly. Close the cover and check that the locking levers are engaged on both sides and prevent the cover from being lifted.
Roll the cover toward the tailgate and rotate the tail rail downwards towards the rotating locking levers. The latch will click when fully engaged. The slam latch must hit the locking levers squarely on both sides.
Pull down on the latch release cable located on either side of the cover and rotate the tail rail forward into a rolling motion. When driving with the cover open, the cover must be rolled toward the cab and secured with both strap clamps.
Roll the cover forward, twist and insert the strap clamp clips into the cover clasps. Ensure that both strap clamps are fully inserted into the clasps. Pull on the end of each strap to tighten. Always hook the straps on both sides.
Before opening the cover, it must be free of all foreign materials including snow and ice. Failure to do so may damage the cover or prevent proper operation.
Do not place objects on or against the cover or framework. Do not tie cargo to the cover or framework. Do not operate the vehicle with objects on top of the cover. Never allow children or pets to occupy the truck bed with the cover in the fully closed position. The cover is not airtight, so special care is required to keep cargo clean and dry. The cover will not prevent theft of contents.
Periodically check that the cover is securely attached and working as intended. Inspect all hardware such as clamps and cover retainer clamps to ensure they are properly installed. Covers used at high frequency or on rough roadways may require adjustment. Regularly inspect and service each cover attachment and clean away excess dirt or grime.
The REVOLVER X4ts carries a limited 5-year warranty from the original date of purchase against defects in materials or workmanship. The warranty is not transferable and applies only to the original owner. Warranty registration and proof of purchase are required. The warranty is void if the product has been damaged by accident, neglect, unforeseeable use, improper installation, improper servicing, or failure to follow care and use instructions.
Warranty conditions include: clean with mild automotive soap and water only; secure the cover at all points when the vehicle is in motion; check all clamps and retention mechanisms for tightness after one week of driving and periodically thereafter; ensure the cover is free of snow and ice before opening; do not tow the vehicle from the rear with the cover installed; and follow all care and use instructions.
Have one person stand on the outside of the bed and slightly roll the rails upward while another person slowly snugs the clamps up. If the clamps are tightened too quickly or overtightened, it will cause the rails to lean down. Loosen the clamps and retighten slowly with proper downward pressure.
Check the following: 1) Make sure the retaining clamps are tight and properly engaged to the side rails. 2) Check that the bulkhead seal is in place and the cover is resting on it. 3) Make sure that all latches are engaged to the side rails and adjust if needed. 4) Check that the side rails are installed flush with the top of the bed rail.
The cable could be pinched in or under the cable guide extrusion. Loosen the three screws on the center cable cover (bar) located in the middle of the panel. Slightly lift up on the cable guide extrusion. Pull on both sides of the cable to free it.
Yes, the seal may be wavy when removed from the box. Allow ample sunlight for the seal to lay flat and relax. This is normal and will resolve over time.
Loosen the lock knobs (H) and make a side-to-side adjustment as described in the alignment steps. Verify that the vinyl edges of the cover align squarely with the side rails in all four corners and that the latch assembly aligns with the side rail locking levers at the tailgate on both sides. Firmly hand tighten the knobs after adjustment.
