The Revolver X4ts Replacement Rail Set is a replacement component for a truck bed cover system. The kit includes a passenger side cover rail (A), driver side cover rail (B), end caps (C), clamps (G), strap clamp assembly (F), mounting bolts (K), rudder washers (J), large flat washers (I), and lock knobs (H). The manual does not specify whether the rolled cover (E) is included or sold separately.
The manual does not specify which truck makes, models, years, bed lengths, or cab styles this rail set is designed for. Contact RealTruck customer service at 818-365-9000 (Mon-Fri 8:30 am–6:00 pm EST) or support@bakindustries.com to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle.
Yes. The manual references 8-foot beds and specifies that for 8' beds, two clamps will be evenly spaced in the center section of the cover rail. The manual does not confirm compatibility with other bed lengths.
You will need a 9/16" wrench or socket to torque the clamps and an Allen wrench (size not specified in manual) to tighten the set screws on the end caps. The manual does not specify other tools required for removal of the existing rails or general installation.
Yes. The manual states: 'Prior to new rail installation take cover off truck and remove current rails.' You must remove the cover and the existing rails before beginning installation of the replacement rail set.
Position the first clamp (G) approximately 6 to 9 inches back from the front of the rail. Make sure the cover rail is clamped square and level. Apply downward pressure to the cover rail when tightening to ensure the rail sits flush and the seals are set.
Push the slotted bracket all the way toward the front/cab and the bulkhead before clamping the rail in place.
Place the second clamp (G) near the center of the cover rail. For 8' beds, two clamps will be evenly spaced in the center section. Place the third clamp near the rear of the rail, approximately 12 inches from the tailgate.
Clamps must be inserted as far up onto the rail as possible so that the clamp teeth fit squarely and fully engage the ribs of the cover rail. When properly engaged, an audible click will be heard. Improper engagement can cause the rails to appear tilted inward. Both sections 1 and 2 of the clamp must be fully engaged.
Install the mounting hardware loosely underneath the slotted bracket on the cover rail. The order is: rudder washer (J), then large flat washer (I), then hand tighten the lock knobs (H). Leave the knobs loose until the cover has been properly aligned. Repeat on both the passenger and driver sides.
Align the front vinyl edge of the rolled cover (E) with the front edge of the side rails, not the rubber seal. The vinyl edges should align squarely with the side rails in all four corners when correctly installed.
A gap of approximately 1/8 inch (3.2 mm) should remain on both sides of the cover between the edge of the cover rail and the rolling cover. This spacing is necessary to ensure that the locking rail secures to the cover.
Open and close the rolled cover several times to verify that it rolls freely. The cover should be square with the cover rail and roll freely between the rails. If it does not roll freely, loosen the lock knobs and adjust the side-to-side alignment.
After the cover has been properly aligned, firmly hand tighten the lock knobs (H). Do not overtighten. Hand tighten only. Recheck that the cover operates correctly after tightening.
Install one end cap (C) on the rearward portion only of the new passenger side cover rail (A). Tighten the set screw with the provided Allen wrench. Repeat on the driver side cover rail (B).
With the cover rolled open, install the four D-shaped bumpers (O) to the cover slats. First, clean the surface where the seal will go with soap and water to remove dirt and debris. Then clean the same area with isopropyl alcohol to remove wax or grease and allow it to dry. Position the bumpers so they prevent the cover from contacting the cab. Peel the backing paper from the seal and apply pressure to the entire seal to ensure good adhesion.
Roll the cover forward, twist and insert the clips into the cover clasps. Ensure that both strap clamps are fully inserted into the clasps. Pull on the end of the strap to tighten. Always hook the straps on both sides. When driving with the cover open, the cover must be rolled toward the cab and secured with both strap clamps.
Pull down on the latch release cable located on either side of the cover (E) and rotate the tail rail forward and into the rolling motion. When driving with the cover open, the cover must be rolled toward the cab and secured with both strap clamps.
Roll the cover (E) toward the tailgate and rotate the tail rail downwards towards the rotating locking levers.
Torque all clamps to 10 ft/lbs (13 N/m) using a 9/16" wrench or socket. Hand tighten all clamps first, then torque them to this specification. Do not over-torque, as this can contribute to tilted rails and warping of the bed cap.
No. Do not place objects on or against the cover or framework. Do not tie cargo to the truck bed cover or framework. Do not operate the vehicle with objects on top of the cover.
No. Never allow children or pets to occupy the truck bed with the cover in the fully closed position.
No. Do not tow your vehicle from the rear with the cover on your vehicle. If towing from the rear is required, the cover must be removed from the vehicle and properly stored.
No. The cover is not airtight. Special care is required to keep cargo clean and dry.
No. Truck bed covers will not prevent theft of contents inside the truck bed.
Clean the truck bed cover with mild automotive soap and water only. Avoid using abrasive cleaners as they may dull the finish. Do not use products containing insect repellents, oils, solvents, or lubricants, as these could damage the rubber hinges and seals and void the warranty. Always read the ingredients of any cleaning product to ensure it is safe for use with rubber.
Check all clamps and retention mechanisms for tightness after a week of driving following installation and periodically thereafter. Periodically inspect all hardware such as clamps and cover retainer clamps to ensure they are properly installed and working as intended. Regularly inspect and service each panel latch by cleaning away excess dirt or grime and ensuring all latches move freely and properly engage the side rail. Covers used at high frequency or subject to rough roadways and heavy vibration may require adjustment.
Improper engagement of the clamps can cause the rails to appear tilted inward. To fix this, loosen the nut and adjust the clamp(s) until you have full engagement of sections 1 and 2. When the clamp and rail are properly engaged, an audible click will be heard. Overtightening the bolt can also contribute to tilted rails—do not over-torque. Clamps may need to be installed in the bed flange cutouts to assist with rail installation.
Water intrusion can result from several issues. Make sure the retaining clamps are tight and properly engaged to the side rails. Check that the bulkhead seal is in place and the cover is resting on it. Make sure that all latches are engaged to the side rails and adjust if needed. Check that the side rails are installed flush with the top of the bed rail.
The cable could be pinched in or under the cable guide extrusion. To fix this, loosen the three screws on the center cable cover (bar), located in the middle of the panel. Slightly lift up on the cable guide extrusion and pull on both sides of the cable.
The seal may be wavy when removed from the box. Allow ample sunlight for the seal to lay flat and relax.
Check that the latches on both sides at the tailgate fully engage the cover rails. If they do not, loosen the lock knobs (H) and make a side-to-side adjustment as described in the alignment steps. The slam latch must hit the locking levers squarely on both sides.
The manual does not specify vehicle makes, models, years, or bed lengths beyond a reference to 8-foot beds. Contact RealTruck at 818-365-9000 or support@bakindustries.com to confirm fitment.
