Yes, the BAKFlip HFC Hard Folding Cover (part #318S0020) is designed for the Ford Maverick.
Yes. If your vehicle is equipped with a drop-in bedliner, you must remove the liner before proceeding with installation. After removing the liner, follow the included Routing Guidelines to drill access holes for the drain tubes. The bedliner can be reinstalled after the cover is mounted.
Required tools: 9/16" wrench or socket, Phillips screwdriver, and scissors or utility knife. Recommended tools: torque wrench, 1.0" drill (if equipped with a bedliner), and blow dryer or heat gun. Do not use a screw gun when installing the buckle end machine screws—tighten by hand only.
The kit includes: 1 hard folding cover assembly, 1 passenger side rail, 1 driver side rail, 4 nutserts, 4 machine screws, 2 drain adapters, 2 drain hoses, 1 bulkhead seal, 3 foam bumpers, 6 clamps, 2 elevator bolts, 2 large flat washers, 4 rubber washers, 2 lock washers, 2 star knobs, and 2 buckle ends. A hardware bag is also included.
Place each rail on the truck bed rail with the slotted bracket positioned all the way forward and on the inside. The rail should be completely level. Apply downward pressure when tightening clamps to ensure the rail sets flush and seals properly.
Position three clamps on each rail: the first clamp 4–6 inches (100–150 mm) from the bulkhead at the cab end, the second clamp near the center of the rail, and the third clamp approximately 6.5 inches (165 mm) from the tailgate. Ensure each clamp is inserted all the way up into the rail with clamp teeth aligned to rail slots for a secure grip.
Using a 9/16" wrench, tighten all clamps until snug, then torque an additional 1/2 turn, which is approximately 10 ft-lbs (13.5 Nm).
Clean the top of the bulkhead thoroughly. Peel the backing off the bulkhead seal and adhere it from one bedrail edge to the other. Remove any excess with scissors or a utility knife. Note: if your truck has a drop-in bedliner, no seal is needed.
Set the cover in the folded position on the rails toward the front of the cab. The cover's small panel faces forward toward the cab and folds down over the rail with the seal resting on top. Fold the panel down and align it squarely on the rails so the mounting holes align with the slotted brackets on the rails.
Position the buckle ends so the open side faces the bed. Use a Phillips screwdriver to install the two buckles into the pre-drilled holes on the front header panel using the provided machine screws and nutserts. Do not use a screw gun—tighten securely by hand only.
Insert the elevator bolt with a rubber washer through the front panel and through the slotted rail bracket underneath on both sides. From underneath the cover, assemble washers in this order: rubber washer first, then large flat stainless washer, then lock washer, and finally the star finger knob. Loosely tighten the knob initially. Do not over tighten. Once the cover is positioned, tighten the knobs on both sides until the lock washer flattens and holds the knob securely.
The cover's aluminum frame should fit just inside the tailgate with approximately 1/4 inch (6 mm) clearance when adjustment is made correctly.
Attach the drain adapter and drain hose to the cover rail drain cap. Remove the body plug and route the drain hose out through the hole in the truck bed. If the truck has a bedliner, refer to the Bedliner & Drain Tube Routing Guidelines section for proper routing through the drilled bedliner access holes.
Install the three foam bumpers along the top edge of the cover where it meets the truck cab. Position them 1.0 inch (25.4 mm) from the edge of the panel. The bumpers must touch the glass surface only and should not touch any painted surface. Improperly locating the foam blocks could cause paint damage.
Check to see that the cover panel latches make proper contact with the side rails. Adjust the cover fit as necessary. Ensure all panels are closed and fully latched to the tonneau side rail before operating the vehicle.
Yes. If your truck has a drop-in bedliner, you must remove the liner and drill a 1.0 inch (25.4 mm) diameter hole through the bedliner to allow drain tube routing. For an official Ford bedliner, there is a centering shape molded into the bedliner as a guide. For non-Ford bedliners, measure approximately 8 11/32 inches (212 mm) down from the top of the bulkhead and 5 1/16 inches (128.6 mm) from the front of the bulkhead, then drill at that point. Do this for both sides of the bed.
The cover has three safe operating positions: (1) Closed Position—all panels must be closed and fully latched to the tonneau side rail; (2) Folded Up Position—use the tie down straps and buckles provided; ensure both buckle clips are fully inserted into the buckle ends and adjust straps to keep the cover secure during vehicle operation; (3) Flipped Up Position—fold the cover open, lift it vertical or past 90 degrees toward the cab, fold the prop rod over and position it firmly against the vertical plate on the underside of the cover, then slide the prop rod locks downward and tighten the knobs on both sides. Do not attempt to drive with the tail panel in the partially open position.
No. Do not tow your vehicle from the rear with the bed cover on your truck. This is a critical safety restriction.
The bed cover must be free of foreign material including snow and ice before opening panels. Remove any snow or foreign matter before folding the cover. Failure to do so may result in severe damage and void your warranty.
No. Do not operate your vehicle with objects on top of the cover. This may result in severe damage and will void your warranty.
After installation, check that the cover panel latches make proper contact with the side rails and adjust the cover fit as necessary. Verify that all panels are closed and fully latched before operating the vehicle. Ensure the cover is securely attached to the truck bed by inspecting the clamps and front mounting bolts.
Use standard automotive soap and water with a soft sponge or cloth for cleaning. Shammy dry to keep the finish polished and brilliant. Do not use harsh cleaners or abrasives. Wax is not recommended as it tends to fill in cracks and crevices, which may affect the textured panel finish. For vinyl tops, 3M 303 Aerospace Protectant may be used to keep the vinyl surface clean and protected from the elements, remove water spots, protect against fading and UV damage, and repel dust and stains.
It is recommended that you periodically inspect and service the latches on each panel. Clean away any excess dirt or grime and lubricate with silicone spray. Ensure the latches move freely in and out to properly engage the side rail and provide proper performance with optimum security. Be careful not to overspray the cover and wipe away any excess around the latch location.
It is recommended that you periodically check that your cover is securely attached to your truck bed. Inspect the clamps and front mounting bolts to ensure they were properly installed and have not come loose or knocked out of adjustment during operation. Covers that are used with high frequency or that are subject to vibrations and impact from rough roadways can cause the cover to require adjustment.
The BAKFlip HFC Hard Folding Cover comes with a 3-year limited warranty from the retail date of purchase. Warranty registration must be on file and/or proof of original purchase (detailed and dated receipt) is required for warranty service. The warranty is non-transferable and applies to the original purchaser only. Warranty is void if the product has been damaged by accident, unreasonable use, neglect, improper installation, modifications, acts of God, or normal wear and tear.
Yes. The tailgate can be closed with the bed cover either up or down for universal operation.
Side seals may appear wrinkled shortly after initial installation. To assist seals in laying flat, you can leave your truck in the sun, or to expedite the process, apply heat with a hair dryer or heat gun.
