Founded in 1931 to supply electrical connection products to the United States military, Bargman is now the RV industry's most widely recognised lighting brand. The line covers tail light assemblies, clearance and marker lamps, licence plate lights, wiring harnesses, plugs, sockets and over-moulded cordsets for light-duty trailers, recreational vehicles and commercial trucks.
Bargman was founded in 1931 to provide electrical connection products for the United States military, and it carried that background into civilian markets after the war. The brand has since become the reference name in light-duty trailer and recreational vehicle lighting, and its products are equally familiar to commercial truck and trailer manufacturers and their aftermarkets. It is part of the Horizon Global towing family alongside Reese, Draw-Tite, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha and Wesbar.
Complete tail light assemblies are the products most owners recognise. Bargman lamps are fitted as original equipment across a large share of the RV industry, which means a replacement usually drops straight into the existing cut-out and wiring rather than requiring a redesign of the rear panel. The wider trailer light range covers stop, turn, tail, reverse and interior functions in both incandescent and LED technology, and clearance and marker lamps handle the outline lighting that longer and wider units require by law.
The electrical side of the business is where the manufacturing capability shows. In-house over-moulding and custom mould capability, combined with design and engineering, lets the brand build harnesses and connectors to specification rather than assembling from stock parts. Bargman specialises in assemblies with multiple connections, varying wire lengths and mixed technologies, which is exactly what a modern RV needs when a single harness has to serve lighting, brakes, charge lines and accessory circuits.
That capability supports a full range of plugs and sockets and pre-made cordsets, including the seven-way connectors used for trailers with electric brakes and battery charging. For RV manufacturers, trailer builders and owners alike, the appeal is the same: connections that seal properly, resist corrosion and keep passing signal after years outdoors.

The Bargman Fifth Wheel Harness, 7-Way BM50-97-410 (Part #BM50-97-410) Drilling is required for installation. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The Trailer Tow Harness is designed for tow vehicles with a 7-way factory harness located on or near the rear bumper. Dodge versions have a rectangular connector. If your vehicle has a 7-way factory harness, this product should be compatible. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual or contact the manufacturer if you are unsure whether your vehicle has a 7-way harness.
Yes, but installation requires modification. If your vehicle has a bedliner, you will need to either notch the bedliner or use longer screws (not provided) and mount directly into both the bedliner and body panel. Plan your installation approach before drilling.
You will need: a drill with 3/32" and 1/4" drill bits, a 2" hole saw, a 5/16" socket, a center punch, and safety glasses. You should also have rust-proof coating available (not provided) to treat drilled areas and prevent rusting.
The harness includes four self-tapping screws for mounting the 7-way connector, a spacer (for use when the 90-degree bend corner is too close to the truck bed wall), and the harness assembly itself with OE wire connectors.
Mount the harness on the driver's side of the vehicle, typically between the rear cab post and in front of the wheel well area. Ensure there is adequate clearance for mounting by checking the cut-away view of the truck rail. Verify wire lengths and mounting location before drilling the final hole.
Yes. You must drill a 1/4" pilot hole first, then use a 2" hole saw to create the main mounting hole. After routing the OE wire connectors through this hole, you will drill four 3/32" holes for the self-tapping screws. Before drilling any hole, verify what is behind the surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into exposed surfaces.
Drill a 1/4" pilot hole first to verify mounting location. Then use a 2" hole saw to cut the main mounting hole. Finally, drill four 3/32" holes for the self-tapping screws that secure the 7-way connector to the vehicle surface.
Yes. Use rust-proof coating in all drilled areas to prevent future rusting. This coating is not provided with the harness, so you will need to obtain it separately.
Route the OE wire connectors through the 2" hole carefully to avoid scraping or damaging the wires against the sharp edges of the sheet metal. Use the 7-way connector end as a guide when marking mounting hole locations.
Use the spacer provided between the 7-way plug and the truck bed if the 90-degree bend corner is too close to the outside wall of the truck bed. This prevents the connector from being forced against the bed wall.
Locate the vehicle's 7-way factory harness on or near the rear bumper. Separate the factory connector carefully without breaking the locking tabs. Ensure all connector surfaces are clean and free of dirt. Install the Trailer Tow Harness between the mating plugs. Note that Dodge versions have a rectangular connector.
Route the wire carefully to avoid hot pipes, heat shields, the fuel tank, or any other points that may pinch or break the wire. After installation, secure all loose wiring to prevent movement and potential damage.
On some vehicles, you may need to add a fuse or relay (not provided) to complete all functions going to the 7-way connector. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual for the specific locations and specifications required for your vehicle.
Test and verify the installation with a test light or by connecting an actual trailer once installed. All connections must be complete for the Trailer Tow Harness to function properly. If any function does not work, check that all connectors are fully seated and clean.
Wear safety glasses during the entire installation. Before drilling any hole, verify what is behind the surface to avoid damage to the vehicle or personal injury. Do not drill into exposed surfaces. Ensure the work area is clear and you have adequate lighting. Read and follow all vehicle warnings and installation instructions before beginning.
The harness fits vehicles with a 7-way factory connector on or near the rear bumper. Dodge versions are rectangular. Check your owner's manual to confirm your vehicle has a 7-way harness.
Drill with 3/32" and 1/4" bits, 2" hole saw, 5/16" socket, center punch, and safety glasses. You'll also need rust-proof coating (not included).
Yes. You must drill a 1/4" pilot hole, a 2" main hole, and four 3/32" holes for mounting screws. Always verify what is behind the surface before drilling.
Some vehicles require an additional fuse or relay (not provided) to complete all 7-way functions. Check your vehicle's owner's manual for locations and specifications.
Test with a test light or by connecting a trailer. All connections must be complete and fully seated for proper function.
