The fascia and windshield washer fluid reservoir must be removed for baseplate installation and then reinstalled after the baseplate is installed. Additionally, the wheel well trim, wheel well liner, foam pieces, and belly pan must be removed or loosened during installation. All removed items should be placed on a flat, sturdy surface and reinstalled unless otherwise noted.
Yes, drilling is required. You must drill out the bottom hole on the side of the frame using a 3/8-inch drill bit and the baseplate as a guide on both sides of the vehicle. When using a power drill, be aware of the dangers of torque and drill bit length.
Trimming and cutting required includes: using a utility knife to trim the plastic shroud on both sides of the vehicle; notching plastic on the passenger side for baseplate clearance; notching plastic on the driver side for baseplate clearance; unsnapping and cutting a plastic piece from the back of the fascia; removing two horizontal slats between white marks on the grille to allow room for removable tabs and convenience links; and trimming indicated areas on the back of the fascia on both sides for baseplate clearance (cutting only through the first layer of plastic, not all the way through the fascia). When cutting, be aware of objects behind the cutting surface.
