Blue Ox is known internationally for recreational and commercial towing products, manufacturing in Pender, Nebraska since 1925. The line covers tow bars and vehicle-specific baseplates for flat towing behind a motorhome, sway control and weight distributing hitches, supplemental braking accessories and towing wiring, backed by patented designs and long-standing customer service.
Blue Ox has manufactured since 1925 and is recognised internationally for towing products and customer service. The company operates from Pender, Nebraska, where it grew out of Automatic Manufacturing Co., a business that started with cattle oilers and developed into agricultural equipment, tractor accessories and trailer towing hardware. That agricultural engineering heritage still shows in how the towing products are built, and the company holds patents across weight distribution, fifth wheel and tow bar designs.
Flat towing is the discipline Blue Ox is best known for. Towing a car with all four wheels on the ground behind a motorhome demands a system that stays rigid under braking, articulates properly over uneven ground, and connects to the towed vehicle at points strong enough to take the load. Blue Ox tow bars handle the first two, with self-aligning arms that latch under tension and release without a struggle when the load is off them. Vehicle-specific baseplates handle the third, engineered per make and model to tie into structural mounting points behind the fascia.
The wider flat towing range covers supplemental braking systems, safety cables and the accessories that make a complete legal setup, along with baseplate wiring and dinghy towing harnesses that pass lighting signals to the towed vehicle without back-feeding its electrical system.
For conventional trailer towing, Blue Ox weight distributing hitches with integrated sway control transfer tongue load onto the tow vehicle's front axle and resist the yaw that crosswinds and passing trucks induce.
The company describes its foundation as customer service, designing around what owners actually ask for, and it runs an RV park adjacent to the factory where customers can stay. Sister operations at the same Nebraska site include Automatic grain roller mills and MAD-RAMPS pivoting ramp systems.

Equip your vehicle for towing and hitch-mounted accessories with a dependable CURT 2" trailer hitch. Designed for a vehicle-specific fit, CURT receiver hitches provide a strong and secure connection point for towing trailers, carrying bikes, transporting cargo and using other compatible 2-inch hitch accessories.
Our selection of CURT 2-inch receiver hitches includes options for trucks, SUVs, crossovers, vans and passenger vehicles. Each hitch is engineered to match specific vehicle mounting points, helping provide a clean installation and dependable performance. Depending on the vehicle application, available options may include Class 3, Class 4 and heavy-duty receiver hitches with different gross trailer weight and tongue weight capacities.
A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.
CURT trailer hitches feature a durable black finish designed to help protect against rust, scratches and exposure to road conditions. Many models install using existing holes in the vehicle frame, although drilling, trimming or temporary removal of vehicle components may be required for certain applications.
Use our vehicle fitment tools to find the correct CURT 2" trailer hitch for your year, make and model. Always compare the hitch rating with your vehicle’s towing capacity and the ratings of every component in your towing setup. The maximum towing capacity is determined by the lowest-rated component.
Shop CURT 2-inch trailer hitches at TowUniverse for vehicle-specific fitment, trusted towing performance and access to the accessories needed to complete your towing setup.

Yes, the BXH8502 is designed for 2007-2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van 2500/3500 models with a standard bumper. If the rear of your vehicle looks different than shown in the manual, contact Blue Ox at (402) 385-3051 before proceeding with installation.
The BXH8502 has a maximum Gross Trailer Weight (GTW) of 8000 lb. (3629 kg) and a maximum Tongue Weight (TW) of 800 lb. (363 kg). However, you must verify your vehicle's tow rating in your owner's manual and use whichever is less. Do not exceed your vehicle's maximum towing capacity, as exceeding this weight will void the manufacturer's warranty and could result in damage to your vehicle or personal injury.
You will need: a torque wrench, 18MM socket, 18MM wrench, 5/8" socket, and 11/16" wrench. These tools are required to remove the factory tow hook bracket and install the receiver hitch with proper torque specifications.
The kit includes: one Receiver Hitch with Mounted Step, 2" (62-4404); one Bolt Bag & Manual Package (63-5148); one 5" Electrical Mounting Plate with Bolt Holes (101-11257); eight 1/2"-13 x 4" Hex Head Bolts, Grade 8 (201-0454); two 1/4"-20 x 1/2" Hex Head Thread Forming Screws (201-1189); eight 1/2" Flat Washers (203-0005); and eight 1/2"-13 Whiz Flange Nuts, Grade 8, ZP (202-0267).
No. The installation instructions state that no drilling or trimming is required for the BXH8502. The receiver hitch is designed to use existing holes and hardware on the vehicle frame.
You must remove the tow hook bracket from the passenger side of the vehicle using an 18MM socket and wrench. The bracket is held by three bolts. Remove the bracket and bolts and return them to the customer—they will not be reinstalled. All other removed components will be reinstalled after the receiver hitch is installed.
1. Remove the three bolts from the tow hook bracket on the passenger side using an 18MM socket and wrench. Remove and return the bracket and bolts to the customer. 2. Raise the receiver hitch into place and start one 1/2" x 4" bolt with a flat washer and whiz flange nut into the top rear hole of the frame on both sides. Leave loose. 3. Install the remaining three 1/2" x 4" bolts with flat washers and whiz flange nuts on both sides. 4. Tighten all bolts to 119 ft-lbs.
All 1/2"-13 bolts must be torqued to 119 ft-lbs. This applies to the eight bolts (four on each side) that secure the receiver hitch to the vehicle frame.
Before each towing trip, complete a visual inspection of the hitch and verify that all bolted connections are at the correct torque specification (119 ft-lbs for the 1/2" bolts). Check for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts. Ensure all electrical connections are plugged in and accessories are functioning properly. Do not tow if the hitch is damaged or missing parts.
If the receiver hitch is involved in an accident, it must be replaced immediately. Do not use it again. An accident can cause unseen damage, and using a damaged hitch could result in more damage or serious injury. Do not use the hitch if it is damaged or missing parts.
Check that all bolted connections are at the correct torque specification on a regular basis. Complete a visual inspection before towing each time. The owner is responsible for inspecting all towing equipment for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and loose bolts before each towing trip.
No. Do not alter this product in any way. Modifying the hitch could change its integrity and lead to a loss of connection between the towed item and the tow vehicle. Modifying the product will void the manufacturer's warranty. The hitch was designed for easy installation and may be tailored slightly to compensate for vehicle manufacturer's tolerances, but only as described in the installation instructions.

Yes. You should register your product online at www.blueox.com. Registration is crucial so that you may be alerted of product offerings, updates, upgrades, maintenance and safety bulletins, and/or recalls. Additionally, the customer warranty card must be returned within 30 days of purchase to activate warranty coverage.
Always use the hardware supplied in the hardware kit as specified in the installation instructions. Even though factory bolts may be present, do not assume they are adequate for receiver hitch mounting. The kit includes eight Grade 8 bolts (1/2"-13 x 4") which are the correct specification for this hitch. If a bolt is lost or needs replacement, use a replacement bolt of the same grade (Grade 8).
Blue Ox towing products are intended to be installed by Blue Ox Dealers who are familiar with the products and have the equipment and knowledge necessary to do fit work. Installation should be performed by someone who is aware of the risks and has knowledge of hazards and proper safety procedures involved with adding components to the chassis of a vehicle and the tools needed for installation. Blue Ox Dealers can be found at www.blueox.com or by contacting the Customer Care Department at (402) 385-3051.
Watch for electrical wires and hoses during installation. If the hitch receiver is improperly installed and is against a wire or hose, it could cause fluid leaks or electrical shorts some time after the actual hitch installation. Also be aware of the dangers of torque and drill bit length when using power drills, and of objects behind the cutting surface when using a reciprocating saw. Use protective covers, rags, and specialty tools as needed to prevent damage to cosmetic parts.
Use a good quality paint to spray cut edges of frame to prevent rusting. This protects the exposed metal from corrosion.
Yes, the BXH8502 is designed for 2007-2025 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter Van 2500/3500 with standard bumper. Verify your vehicle's rear appearance matches the manual before installation.
Maximum Gross Trailer Weight is 8000 lb. (3629 kg) and maximum Tongue Weight is 800 lb. (363 kg). Verify your vehicle's tow rating and use whichever is less.

Torque wrench, 18MM socket, 18MM wrench, 5/8" socket, and 11/16" wrench.
All 1/2"-13 bolts must be torqued to 119 ft-lbs. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightness.
Complete a visual inspection before each towing trip. Verify all bolts are at 119 ft-lbs torque, check for cracked welds, missing or worn parts, and ensure all electrical connections are plugged in and functioning.
Always use the Grade 8 bolts supplied in the hardware kit. Do not assume factory bolts are adequate for hitch mounting.
Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
