However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Dodge Caliber (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.

The CURT 11006 Class 1 Trailer Hitch, 1-1/4-Inch Receiver, Fits Select Dodge Caliber (Part #BKDK11006) Drilling is not required for installation. Typical installation time is 30-60 minutes. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The Curt 11006 receiver hitch is designed for the Dodge Caliber (except SRT). If your vehicle is a Caliber SRT model, this hitch is not compatible.
The Curt 11006 is designed for use with ball mount #45016. Euro ball mount options are also available: #45561 (1 7/8" ball) and #45562 (2" ball).
The manual states a gross load capacity of 2,000 lbs. trailer weight and 200 lbs. tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
No. The installation notes state 'NO DRILLING REQUIRED' for this hitch.
Fishwiring is required for this installation. You will use a 7/16" fishwire (included, part number 7_16 FISHWIRE) to guide 7/16" carriage bolts and spacers into position through the bumper beam channel. The bolt must be inserted through the spacer when fishwiring into position.
The kit includes: 4× 1/2-13 UNC Grade 8 serrated flange nuts (part 20-00062), 4× 1/2-13 UNC Grade 8 hex cap screws 4" long (part 10-10407), 4× 1/2" flat washers (part 30-00133), 2× 7/16-14 UNC Grade 8 serrated flange nuts (part 20-00103), 2× 0.250 x 1.00 x 2.00" square hole spacers (part CM-SP7), 2× 7/16-14 UNC Grade 8 carriage bolts 1-1/4" long (part 10-10281), and 1× 7/16" fishwire (part 7_16 FISHWIRE).
1. Lower exhaust hangers on both driver and passenger sides. 2. Insert 4" hex bolts with washers into the frame rails from the outside. Raise the hitch into position between the frame rails, tilting the driver side into position first. Push bolts through mounting plates and loosely install 1/2" hex nuts. 3. Fishwire 7/16" carriage bolts and spacers into position through the bumper beam channel, ensuring the bolt is inserted through the spacer. Install remaining fasteners as shown. 4. Torque all 7/16" fasteners to 59 lb-ft and all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft.
Lowering the exhaust hangers on both the driver and passenger sides is the first installation step. This is necessary to provide clearance for positioning the hitch between the frame rails.
Leave fasteners loose initially. After inserting the 4" hex bolts and raising the hitch into position, loosely install the 1/2" hex nuts. Only after all fasteners are in place should you torque them to their final specifications: 7/16" fasteners to 59 lb-ft and 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft.
Torque all 7/16" fasteners to 59 lb-ft and all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft.
All non-trailer loads applied to this product must be supported by auxiliary stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty.
Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. While the Curt 11006 has a gross load capacity of 2,000 lbs. trailer weight and 200 lbs. tongue weight, your Dodge Caliber's manufacturer specifications may be lower and must be followed.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but regular inspection is recommended.
Yes, the Curt 11006 is designed for the Dodge Caliber (except SRT models).
No, drilling is not required. Fishwiring of carriage bolts through the bumper beam channel is required instead.
Torque 7/16" fasteners to 59 lb-ft and 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft.
The hitch is rated for 2,000 lbs. trailer weight and 200 lbs. tongue weight, but you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Non-trailer loads must be supported by auxiliary stabilizing straps. Failure to do so voids the warranty.
