Connect to your lifestyle with a custom hitch receiver from CURT. All of our custom hitches are designed for a vehicle-specific fit, manufactured with pride, finished for industry-leading rust resistance and tested to rigorous SAE J684 standards for safety. This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Hyundai Veloster (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 1,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 100 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you?re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

Yes, part number 112543 is designed for 2012-Current Hyundai Veloster and Veloster Turbo Hatchback models. The hitch is a weight-carrying receiver hitch with a maximum trailer weight capacity of 1,000 lbs and tongue weight capacity of 100 lbs. Always verify your vehicle's manufacturer-recommended towing capacity before towing.
The CURT 112543 is rated for a maximum trailer weight of 1,000 lbs and tongue weight of 100 lbs when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower than the hitch rating.
The CURT 112543 is designed for use with ballmount #D-55001 or #45501. Euro mount options are also available: #45571 (1 7/8" ball) or #45572 (2" ball). Consult the CURT catalog or website at www.curtmfg.com for additional ballmount options.
Required tools are: M10, 11/16", and 3/4" sockets; ratchet; 8" socket extension; 1/2" drill bit; power drill; torque wrench; and safety glasses. Using proper tools will greatly improve installation quality and reduce installation time.
Two people may be required to ease installation. The manual notes that if you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, you should contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance. For technical support, call 1-800-798-0813.
The installation is rated as Moderate difficulty. The manual recommends reading all instructions thoroughly before beginning and notes that professional installation times are approximately 30 minutes, while DIY installation may take up to 60 minutes.
Yes, drilling is required. You must enlarge the rearmost hole on the passenger side frame rail using a 1/2" drill bit. This is a permanent modification to the vehicle frame.
Fishwire is used to route 7/16" carriage bolts with CM-SP2 spacers through the access holes in the frame rails into the enlarged hole. The fishwires serve as guides to position the hitch and prevent loss of hardware inside the frame rail. Leave fishwires attached to all 7/16" hardware during installation to prevent hardware loss.
1. Remove two M8 nuts holding heat shield to frame rail and bend heat shield down slightly. 2. Remove rubber plugs from each frame rail and enlarge rearmost hole on passenger side using 1/2" drill bit. 3. Fishwire 7/16" carriage bolt with CM-SP2 spacer through passenger side access hole. 4. Reverse fishwire 7/16" carriage bolt with CM-SP2 spacer into access hole on both sides. 5. Raise hitch into position using fishwires as guide, remove fishwires, and loosely attach 7/16" flange nuts. 6. Place 1/2" carriage bolt with CM-SP6 spacer through tow loop and secure with 1/2" flange nut. 7. Torque all fasteners and reinstall M8 nuts.
The hitch is placed between the frame rail and heat shield. The heat shield must be bent down slightly in step 1 to accommodate the hitch position.
All 7/16" hardware (carriage bolts and flange nuts) must be torqued to 70 ft-lbs. All 1/2" hardware (carriage bolt and flange nut) must be torqued to 110 ft-lbs. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightness.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. The ballmount may become hot due to the center exhaust, so exercise caution when handling. Electrical wiring must be kept a minimum of 12" away from exhaust tips to prevent damage.
All non-trailer loads (wheel-less loads) applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. See the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com for further information on stabilizing straps.
Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Although the CURT 112543 is rated for 1,000 lbs trailer weight and 100 lbs tongue weight, your vehicle's manufacturer may specify a lower capacity. Always follow the vehicle manufacturer's towing limits.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection helps maintain safe operation and extends the life of the hitch.
The kit includes: 3 carriage bolts (7/16-14 x 1 1/2"), 3 CM-SP2 spacers (.250 x .88 x 2.25"), 3 hex flange nuts (7/16-14), 3 pieces of 7/16" fishwire, 1 carriage bolt (1/2-13 x 2"), 1 CM-SP6 spacer (.250 x 1.00 x 3.00"), and 1 hex flange nut (HFN 1213). Two rubber plugs are removed from the vehicle frame rails during installation and should be returned to the vehicle owner.
Use the fishwires as a guide to raise the hitch into position. Once the hitch is in the correct position between the frame rail and heat shield, remove the fishwires and then loosely attach the 7/16" flange nuts. Leave fishwires attached to all 7/16" hardware during the routing process to prevent loss of hardware inside the frame rail.
The 7/16" flange nuts should be loosely attached after the hitch is positioned using the fishwires as a guide. All fasteners are then torqued to their final specifications in step 7: 7/16" hardware to 70 ft-lbs and 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs.
The spacers are used with the carriage bolts to properly position the hitch relative to the frame rails and tow loop. The CM-SP2 spacers (.250 x .88 x 2.25") are used with the 7/16" carriage bolts (3 required), and the CM-SP6 spacer (.250 x 1.00 x 3.00") is used with the 1/2" carriage bolt through the tow loop.
In step 1, remove the two M8 nuts that hold the heat shield to the frame rail and bend the heat shield down slightly. This allows the hitch to be positioned between the frame rail and heat shield. The M8 nuts are reinstalled in step 7 after all other fasteners are torqued.
