However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Chevy Sonic (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.

Yes, model 11258 is designed for 2012-Present Chevrolet Sonic Hatchback only. It is not compatible with other Chevrolet models or body styles.
Maximum trailer weight is 2000 lbs and maximum tongue weight is 200 lbs. Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
No, drilling is not required. The hitch uses fishwire hardware to attach through existing vehicle frame access holes.
You will need a ratchet, 11/16" socket, and a torque wrench. All fasteners must be torqued to 70 ft.-lbs.
Two people may be required to ease installation, though it may be possible for one person to complete the task.
Safety glasses should be worn at all times while installing this product.
All 7/16-14 fasteners must be torqued to 70 ft.-lbs.
The kit includes 4 carriage bolts (7/16-14 UNC, 1-1/2", Grade 8, yellow zinc), 4 square hole spacers (CM-SP2, .250 x .88 x 2.25"), 4 serrated flange hex nuts (7/16-14 UNC, Grade 8, yellow zinc), and 4 pieces of 7/16" fishwire hardware.
Yes. The hitch is designed for use with ballmount D-55001/45501. Euro mount options are available: #45571 (1 7/8" ball) and #45572 (2" ball).
Fishwire is a temporary fastening method that allows you to attach the hitch without drilling. Thread the 7/16" fishwire through the CM-SP2 spacers and carriage bolts, then pass them through the vehicle frame access holes into the attaching holes. Leave the fishwires attached while raising the hitch into position. Once the hitch is positioned, remove the fishwires and secure the bolts with flange hex nuts.
There are two access holes: one on the driver frame rail and one on the passenger frame rail. The hitch diagram shows these holes are positioned to allow the fishwire and bolts to pass through into the frame attaching points.
The driver side rearmost fastener requires reverse fishwire due to the vehicle frame geometry and the position of the muffler. Reversing the fishwire direction allows the bolt to be properly threaded through the access hole and into the attaching hole on the driver side.
1. Thread the 7/16" fishwire through the CM-SP2 spacers and 7/16-14 carriage bolts, then pass them through the frame access holes into the attaching holes. Leave fishwires attached. Note: driver side requires reverse fishwire for the rearmost fastener. 2. Raise the hitch into position, being careful not to push bolts back into the frame. 3. Remove the fishwires. 4. Secure all bolts with 7/16-14 flange hex nuts. 5. Torque all 7/16-14 fasteners to 70 ft.-lbs.
All non-trailer loads (wheel-less loads) applied to this hitch must be supported by 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. Curt recommends the use of 18050 stabilizing straps for all non-trailer loads.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This should be done regularly to maintain the integrity and safety of the installation.

The hitch includes four carriage bolts (part number 10-10282) with the following specifications: 7/16-14 UNC thread, 1-1/2" length, Grade 8 strength, yellow zinc plating.
The hitch includes four square hole spacers (part number CM-SP2) with dimensions of .250 x .88 x 2.25 inches. These spacers are used with the carriage bolts during the fishwire installation method.
The hitch includes four serrated flange hex nuts (part number 20-00103) with the following specifications: 7/16-14 UNC thread, Grade 8 strength, yellow zinc plating.
Be careful not to push the bolts back into the frame when raising the hitch into position. The fishwire hardware is designed to hold the bolts in place temporarily. If bolts are being pushed back, reduce the force applied when raising the hitch and ensure the fishwires are properly threaded through the spacers and bolts before lifting.
Periodically check all fasteners to ensure they remain tight. If fasteners have loosened, retorque all 7/16-14 fasteners to 70 ft.-lbs using a torque wrench and 11/16" socket. Check the hitch regularly during the first few uses and then periodically thereafter to maintain proper tightness.
