The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. Yes, fascia trimming is required. You must mark and trim the rear fascia according to the Fascia Trim Diagram. The trim dimensions are approximate (2.50 in, 2.75 in, and 2.19 in); confirm fit prior to trimming. A rotary tool is recommended for this task.
Two people may be required to ease installation. The manual recommends having a second person available to help, though it may be possible for one person to complete the installation.
The kit includes: 4 spacers (CM-SP16, .250 x 1.50 x 2.00" round hole), 1 carriage bolt (1/2-13 x 1 3/4, GR8), 2 carriage bolts (7/16-14 x 1 1/2), 1 hex flange nut (HFN 1213, GR8), and 2 hex flange nuts (7/16-14). The three fascia fasteners removed during installation must be retained and reinstalled.
1. Remove and retain three fascia fasteners. 2. Mark and trim rear fascia per the Fascia Trim Diagram. 3. Flex the bottom of the rear fascia back and raise the hitch into position. Insert 7/16"-14 x 1 1/2" carriage bolts through both driver and passenger side plates into existing holes; the passenger side bolt passes through an SP16 spacer. Secure both sides with SP16 spacers and 7/16"-14 hex flange nuts. 4. Insert the 1/2"-13 x 1 3/4" carriage bolt through the tow loop plate and out the tow loop. Secure with an SP16 spacer and 1/2"-13 hex flange nut. 5. Torque all fasteners. 6. Reinstall the three fascia fasteners.
Torque all 7/16" hardware to 70 ft-lbs. Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs.
Four SP16 spacers are included. On the passenger side, one SP16 spacer is sandwiched between the end of the vehicle and the passenger side plate when the 7/16"-14 x 1 1/2" carriage bolt is inserted. An additional SP16 spacer secures the passenger side bolt on the outside. One SP16 spacer secures the driver side bolt on the outside. One SP16 spacer secures the tow loop bolt on the outside.
