The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. Yes. The first installation step is to lower the exhaust by disconnecting two rubber isolators. After the hitch is installed and torqued, you must reinstall the exhaust isolators in step 8.
Yes. You must enlarge an existing hole to 7/16 inch using a power drill with a 7/16-inch drill bit. This is performed in step 3 after lowering the module. This is a permanent modification to the vehicle.
Torque all three 8mm bolts to 25 lb-ft. Torque the 1/2-inch carriage bolt nut to 110 lb-ft. These torque values are applied in step 7 after all bolts are lightly tightened in their initial positions.
The kit includes: one 1/2-13 x 1 3/4-inch carriage bolt, one 0.250 x 1.00 x 3.00-inch square hole spacer (part CM-SP6), one hex flange nut (HFN 1213, GR8), three M8-1.25 x 35 hex bolts, and three 3/8-inch conical toothed washers.
1. Lower exhaust by disconnecting two rubber isolators. 2. Remove one nut from the bracket on the rear driver side frame rail using a 12mm socket. 3. Lower the module and enlarge the hole to 7/16 inch. 4. Remove three bolts from the bumper support using a 14mm socket (leave the inner passenger side bolt). 5. Position the hitch and lightly tighten three 8mm bolts with conical washers. 6. Install the 1/2-inch carriage bolt with spacer through the tow hook and hitch, lightly tighten with the flange nut. 7. Torque all 8mm bolts to 25 lb-ft and the 1/2-inch nut to 110 lb-ft. 8. Reinstall exhaust isolators and reinstall the module with the original nut.
Lightly tighten all bolts in their initial positions (steps 5 and 6). Do not fully tighten them until step 7, when you torque all 8mm bolts to 25 lb-ft and the 1/2-inch nut to 110 lb-ft. This ensures proper alignment before final tightening.
After installation is complete, periodically check that all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing maintenance is essential for safe operation. Verify that the exhaust isolators are properly reinstalled and that the module is securely fastened with the original nut.
The CURT 114003 is designed for use with ball mount #45520. Available Euro ball mounts are #45561 (1 7/8-inch ball) and #45562 (2-inch ball). Verify compatibility with your specific towing setup before purchase.
In step 4, when removing three bolts from the bumper support using a 14mm socket, you must leave the inner passenger side bolt in place. This bolt remains and is not removed during installation.
