Connect to your lifestyle with a custom hitch receiver from CURT. All of our custom hitches are designed for a vehicle-specific fit, manufactured with pride, finished for industry-leading rust resistance and tested to rigorous SAE J684 standards for safety. This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Subaru Impreza, WRX and WRX STI (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you?re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

Yes. CURT part number 11408 is designed for 2015-present Subaru WRX/WRX STI sedans. The hitch is rated for a maximum trailer weight of 2,000 lbs and tongue weight of 200 lbs. Always verify that your vehicle's towing capacity meets or exceeds these limits before towing.
Yes. CURT part number 11408 fits 2012-2014 Subaru Impreza sedans (excluding WRX models). It is also compatible with 2015-present Impreza sedans. The hitch is rated for 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight.
Yes. CURT 11408 is designed for use with ballmount #45521. Euro mount options are available: #45571 (1 7/8" ball) or #45572 (2" ball). You will need to purchase the ballmount separately; it is not included with the hitch.
CURT 11408 is rated for a maximum trailer weight of 2,000 lbs and tongue weight of 200 lbs when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower. Always verify your vehicle's specifications before towing.
You will need: aviator shears, 3/4" socket, 10mm socket, ratchet, torque wrench, and die grinder. Safety glasses must be worn at all times during installation. Using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce installation time.
The hitch includes: (4) carriage bolts 1/2-13 x 1 1/2, (4) hex flange nuts HFN 1213, (4) square hole spacers .250 x 1.00 x 3.00" (CM-SP6), and (4) pieces of 1/2" fishwire. All fasteners and spacers needed for installation are included.
Two people may be required to ease installation. While one person may be able to complete the installation, having a second person will help, particularly when lowering the exhaust, fishwiring hardware, and raising the hitch into position.
Professional installation takes approximately 70 minutes. Novice (DIY) installation takes approximately 35 minutes. Actual time may vary depending on your experience level, familiarity with your vehicle, and access to tools.
You do not need to fully remove the exhaust, but you must lower it. The first installation step is to lower the exhaust by removing (5) rear rubber isolators. Support the exhaust as required during this process. If needed to access outside hangers, remove plastic underbody panels by removing plastic fittings (7 per side). The exhaust is reinstalled in the final step.
No drilling is required. However, trimming and enlargement are required: you must cut a 1-inch hole in the heat shield on the dimple on both the right and left sides, and enlarge the access holes on both sides of the frame to allow 1/2" fasteners to pass through. A die grinder is required for these modifications.
You must remove the heat shield by removing 4 small screws with a 10mm socket, then cut a 1-inch hole in the heat shield on the dimple on both the right and left sides. After fishwiring the hardware, the heat shield is reinstalled with (3) of the original fasteners, leaving out the one between the mounting holes. The heat shield will be sandwiched between the hitch and vehicle frame rails.
Yes. You must remove (6) rubber plugs from the frame: (1) large and (2) small from each frame rail. Do not remove the rubber plugs marked 'DO NOT REMOVE' on both sides. After removing the plugs, enlarge the access holes on both sides to allow the 1/2" fasteners to pass into the frame rail.
Fishwiring is a technique using 1/2" fishwire (included with the hitch) to thread the 1/2" carriage bolts and spacers through the access holes into position on both sides of the frame before raising the hitch. This allows you to position the fasteners without having to reach inside the frame rails. Four pieces of fishwire are included in the parts kit.
All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 lb-ft. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightness. This is the final step before reinstalling the exhaust and underbody panels.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Support the exhaust as required when lowering it. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance. You can reach CURT technical support at 800.798.0813.
All non-trailer loads (wheel-less loads) applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. CURT recommends the use of 18050 stabilizing straps for all non-trailer loads. For further information, see the CURT catalog or visit www.curtmfg.com.
After installation, verify that all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners remain tight and all structural components remain sound during the life of the product. This ongoing maintenance is important for safe operation.
You should periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but regular inspection before towing is recommended to maintain safe operation and preserve the warranty.
