Connect to your lifestyle with a custom hitch receiver from CURT. All of our custom hitches are designed for a vehicle-specific fit, manufactured with pride, finished for industry-leading rust resistance and tested to rigorous SAE J684 standards for safety. This class 1 trailer hitch and ball mount combination is designed for a custom fit on select years of the Audi A6 and A6 Quattro (see application info to verify fitment). The hitch integrates with the vehicle's frame and provides a useful and dependable 1-1/4" x 1-1/4" receiver. The receiver is perfect for attaching the included ball mount and towing a small trailer, or for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted cargo carrier, bike rack or other accessory. This particular class 1 hitch is rated for 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight and 200 pounds tongue weight (never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). The ball mount included with this trailer hitch quickly and easily installs into the hitch receiver and has a 3/4" trailer ball hole (trailer ball not included). It can be mounted in the rise or drop position to promote level towing. Like all CURT custom hitches, this class 1 hitch is protected with our co-cured finishing process. It is descaled for a smooth surface, immersed in liquid A-coat for rust resistance inside and out, covered with a durable black powder coat and finally co-cured for an industry-leading rust, chip and UV-resistant shield. No matter where you're headed or which season of the year you?re towing in, this CURT hitch is equipped for long-lasting resilience to the elements. It features an open-back receiver for easy cleaning, and it comes with all the hardware necessary for the installation.

Yes, CURT hitch 11423 is designed for Audi A6 Sedan models from 2012 to present. Before purchasing, confirm your vehicle matches this specification and that you have not made modifications that would affect fitment.
CURT hitch 11423 has a gross load capacity of 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. You must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
Yes, but all non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads with these straps will void the product warranty.
CURT hitch 11423 is designed for use with ballmount #D-55001 / 45501. Euro mount options are available: #45571 (1-7/8" ball) and #45572 (2" ball).
Yes. Step 2 of the installation requires you to remove the spare tire from inside the trunk. You will reinstall it in Step 9 after the hitch is secured.
No, drilling is not required. However, fascia trimming is required. The manual notes that trim dimensions are approximate, so you must confirm fit prior to trimming.
You must mark and trim the rear plastic fascia to clear the hitch. The fascia trim diagram shows approximate dimensions of 5.00 inches wide by 2.75 inches tall, centered on the vehicle, with a 0.25-inch offset. Dimensions are approximate; confirm fit before trimming. For 2016 models, you must also remove and trim two fascia brackets (one on each side) by removing four bolts using a 10mm socket.
Yes. If your vehicle is equipped with a kick sensor, use caution when trimming the fascia to avoid damaging it. Additionally, for 2016 models, you must remove exhaust tips before trimming; refer to Step 1 note for 2016 models.
Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, 3/4" and 10mm sockets, 9" socket extension, T-25 and T-30 Torx bits, rotary cutting tool, masking tape, tape measure, silicone caulk, and safety glasses.
The hitch includes: (4) 1/2-13 x 5" hex bolts, (4) 1/2" conical toothed washers, (2) 0.250" spacer plates (CM-SP62), (2) 1/2-13 x 1 1/2" carriage bolts, (2) 1/2" hex flange nuts (HFN 1213), and (2) nut plate weldments (11423-NPWA).
Two people may be required to ease installation. The installation is rated as moderate difficulty.
Professional installation time is approximately 90 minutes. Novice (DIY) installation time is approximately 45 minutes.
1. Remove three fascia screws (retain two for reinstallation, return one to owner). For 2016 models, remove exhaust tips. 2. Remove spare tire. 3. Remove two rubber drain plugs from trunk pan (return to owner). Optionally lower exhaust. 4. Mark and trim rear fascia (confirm fit before trimming). For 2016 models, remove and trim fascia brackets. 5. Reattach trimmed fascia brackets and place nut plates on bumper beam supports. 6. Raise hitch into position, aligning slots with nut plate holes. Loosely secure with four 1/2-13 x 5" hex bolts and washers. 7. Seal drain holes with silicone caulk, insert spacers and carriage bolts, secure with hex flange nuts. 8. Torque all 1/2-13 x 5" hex bolts to 75 ft-lbs; torque all remaining 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs. 9. Return spare tire to trunk. 10. Reinstall two outer fascia screws.
In Step 6, you loosely secure the hitch using the four 1/2-13 x 5" hex bolts and washers. Do not fully tighten them at this stage. Final torquing occurs in Step 8 after the drain holes are sealed and the carriage bolts are installed.
Torque all 1/2-13 x 5" hex bolts to 75 ft-lbs. Torque all remaining 1/2" hardware (carriage bolts and hex flange nuts) to 110 ft-lbs.
In Step 7, seal the drain holes in the trunk pan with silicone caulk. Then insert a CM-SP62 spacer plate and a 1/2-13 x 1 1/2" carriage bolt into each drain hole. Secure each bolt from below with a 1/2" hex flange nut (HFN 1213), torqued to 110 ft-lbs in Step 8.
In Step 1, you remove three fascia screws. Retain two of these screws for reinstallation in Step 10 (they are reinstalled through the bumper fascia into the trunk pan). Return the third screw to the vehicle owner.
In Step 3, remove the two rearmost rubber drain plugs from the bottom of the trunk pan and return them to the vehicle owner.
The manual does not specify whether the battery must be disconnected. Contact CURT technical support at 800-798-0813 for guidance on this.
Lowering the exhaust is optional but recommended to ease installation. To lower the exhaust, remove two nuts using a 10mm socket from the exhaust bracket on each side. This is noted as a helpful step in Step 3.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Before beginning installation, read all instructions thoroughly. If you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, contact an authorized CURT installer for additional assistance.
Periodically check the hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. The manual recommends regular inspection but does not specify a particular interval.
