Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Nissan D21 (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 5,000 lbs. GTW and 500 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 6,000 lbs. WD and 600 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

Yes, Curt part number 13092 is designed for 1987-1997 Nissan Pickup trucks in both 2WD and 4WD configurations. The installation process varies slightly depending on whether your vehicle has a bumper and whether it has an enclosed frame.
The kit includes: 2× .313 brackets (CM-13092-B), 1× exhaust bracket (CM-13092-EB), 4× .250 × 1.50 × 2.00" square hole spacers (CM-SP1), 2× 1/2-13 UNC 1-3/4" grade 8 hex head cap screws (10-10370), 12× 1/2-13 UNC grade 8 serrated flange nuts (20-00062), 6× 1/2-13 UNC 1-3/4" grade 8 carriage bolts (10-10272), 6× 1/2-13 UNC 1-1/4" grade 8 hex head cap screws (10-10470), and 1× 1/2" fishwire (1_2 FISHWIRE).
The manual specifies that drilling is required. You will need a 1/2" drill bit to either create new holes or enlarge existing holes in the vehicle frame. A socket set or wrench set for 1/2" fasteners is needed for assembly and torquing. The manual does not list other specific tools required.
Yes, drilling is required. The manual specifies that if your vehicle does not have 1/2" holes on the bottom of the frame just forward of the spring shackle and rearward of the shock absorber, you must drill them using the hitch arm as a template. On some models, it may be necessary to enlarge existing holes using a 1/2" drill bit.
On some models, particularly regular cab short box configurations on the right side, interference with the shock absorber mount requires the forward attachment fasteners to be installed with a modified flat washer. The flat washer must be modified by the installer to ensure the bolt is installed straight and will not bend after tightening. This modification is required only if your vehicle experiences shock absorber interference.
The installation instructions are specifically for vehicles with a bumper. You must remove one bolt attaching the bumper bracket and reinforcement angle to the end of the frame as part of the installation process (Step 2). The bumper does not need to be fully removed, but this fastener must be accessed and removed.
Yes. The first installation step is to remove the existing hex nut from the exhaust bracket to lower the exhaust. After the hitch is installed, you must replace the exhaust system. On some models, it may be necessary to install a spacer between the muffler bracket and exhaust pipe bracket for proper clearance.
1. Remove the hex nut from the exhaust bracket and lower the exhaust. 2. Remove one bolt from the bumper bracket and reinforcement angle at the frame end. 3. Locate or drill 1/2" holes on the frame bottom forward of the spring shackle and rearward of the shock absorber. 4. For enclosed frames, use fishwire to thread the carriage bolt through the frame to the forward attachment hole. 5. Loosely install the forward angle bracket and fasteners. 6. Position the hitch arm and loosely install the forward carriage bolts and fasteners through both arms. 7. Loosely install center and rearward fasteners through the frame and hitch brackets. 8. Install forward angle bracket fasteners through the 1/2" holes. 9. Raise the crossmember assembly between the hitch arms and install three 1/2" × 1-1/4" fasteners per side. 10. Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb.-ft. 11. Replace the exhaust system with spacers if needed.
On vehicles with enclosed frames, fishwire is used to thread the 1/2" × 1-3/4" carriage bolt and block through the end of the frame to the forward attachment hole. This technique allows the fastener to be installed through a frame that cannot be accessed from the inside. The kit includes 1/2" fishwire for this purpose.
All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 lb.-ft. This torque is applied after the entire crossmember assembly is raised into position and all fasteners are loosely installed. Torque is the final step in the installation process.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify the interval for these checks, but regular inspection is essential for safe operation.
Curt Manufacturing warrants the hitch to be free of defects in material and workmanship at the time of retail purchase by the original purchaser. If defective, Curt may repair or replace the product at their option when returned prepaid with proof of purchase. The warranty is voided by alteration, misuse, or improper installation. Curt's liability is limited to repair or replacement and excludes incidental or consequential loss or damage.
No. The manual explicitly states: "DO NOT EXCEED VEHICLE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED TOWING CAPACITY." Even if the hitch has a higher capacity rating, you must not tow more than your vehicle manufacturer specifies.
Yes, the Curt 13092 is designed for 1987-1997 Nissan Pickup in both 2WD and 4WD.
