Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Ram 1500, 2500 or 3500 and Dodge Ram 1500, 2500 or 3500 (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 6,000 lbs. GTW and 600 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 10,000 lbs. WD and 1,000 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

The gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity is 6,000 lbs with a tongue weight (TW) of 600 lbs. For weight distribution use, the capacity is 10,000 lbs GTW with 1,000 lbs tongue weight (WDTW).
No. The installation requires the use of fishwire to install hardware through the frame rails. No drilling is required.
You will need a ratchet, torque wrench, 3/4" socket, and 1/2" hex bit socket. A tools reference guide is available at curtmfg.com/trailer-hitch-installation.
Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 lb-ft and all 3/4" hardware to 250 lb-ft.
Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Safety glasses should be worn at all times during installation.
Periodic inspection of the trailer hitch should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight and structural components are secure.
The kit includes 2 carriage bolts (1/2"-13 x 1-1/2", grade 8), 2 square-hole spacers (1/4" x 1-1/2" x 3"), 2 serrated-flange nuts (1/2"-13), 2 fishwire tools (1/2" x 30"), and 1 flat-head socket bolt (3/4"-10 x 3-1/4", grade 8). A black circle sticker is also provided to mark the top of the 3/4" bolt after installation if desired.
Remove the existing trailer ball hole cap from the center of the bumper and return it to the vehicle owner. Then raise the trailer hitch into position.
Insert the coiled end of the fishwire tool through the hitch mounting hole in the vehicle frame rail and out the access hole. Pass the coiled end through the square-hole spacer and thread the 1/2" carriage bolt into the coil. Kink the wire to keep the spacer separate from the bolt. Pull the fishwire, spacer, and bolt through the frame and out the mounting hole. The fishwire guides the hitch during mounting and prevents loss of the bolt or spacer inside the frame rail.
Use fishwire (#4) to thread 1/2" carriage bolts (#1) and square-hole spacers (#2) through the end of the bumper support tube and into each mounting hole of the hitch, following the fishwire technique described in the manual.
Secure the trailer hitch to the bumper support with 1/2" serrated-flange nuts (#3). Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 lb-ft and all 3/4" hardware to 250 lb-ft.
The 3/4"-10 x 3-1/4" flat-head socket bolt (#5) is installed through the bumper and bumper support into the hitch to raise and secure the trailer hitch into position. After installation, a black circle sticker may be applied to the top of this bolt if desired.
Torque all 1/2" hardware, including the carriage bolts and serrated-flange nuts, to 110 lb-ft.
Torque the 3/4" flat-head socket bolt to 250 lb-ft.
Safety glasses should be worn at all times while installing this product.
Never exceed the vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. For information on safely towing your trailer, visit curtmfg.com/understanding-towing.
