CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. The fishwire tool is used to guide the hitch during mounting and prevent loss of bolts or spacers inside the frame rail. Insert the coiled end of the fishwire through the hitch mounting hole in the vehicle frame rail and out the access hole. Pass the coiled end through the spacer and thread the bolt into the coil. Kink the wire to keep the spacer separate from the bolt, then pull the fishwire, spacer, and bolt through the frame and out the mounting hole.
1. Remove underbody panel (5 bolts with 8mm socket from bottom, 2 bolts from rear of each wheel well liner with 8mm socket, 3 bolts from middle with 10mm socket). 2. Remove bumper cover bolts (2 from bottom with 8mm socket, 4 from rear of each wheel well liner with 8mm socket, 1 push fastener from behind each wheel well). 3. Remove wheel trim bolts (1 bolt per side with 7mm socket). 4. Disconnect electrical connectors behind bumper cover. 5. Remove taillight cover bolts (T-30 Torx bit). 6. Remove bumper cover. 7. Remove rear bumper beam (3 bolts per end with 13mm socket). Set all removed components aside for reinstallation.
Insert hitch side plates into the end of the frame rails and loosely secure with the supplied 1/2" carriage bolts and serrated flange nuts. Reach in the end of the frame rail to install the bottom bolts, using fishwires if required. Do not fully tighten at this stage.
Torque all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs.
After the hitch side plates are loosely secured with carriage bolts and serrated flange nuts, tighten all 1/2" hardware to 110 ft-lbs. This is done in Step 9, after the bumper cover has been reinstalled.
Reinstall the bumper cover and all removed components by following Steps 1-6 in reverse order. This includes: reinstalling the taillight covers, electrical connectors, wheel trim, bumper cover bolts, underbody panel bolts, and wheel well liner bolts. Ensure all hardware is properly secured before completing installation.
