Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Jeep Gladiator (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 7,500 lbs. GTW and 750 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 8,000 lbs. WD and 800 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

Designed for a vehicle-specific fit, CURT receiver hitches provide a strong and secure connection point for towing trailers, carrying bikes, transporting cargo and using other compatible 2-inch hitch accessories.
Our selection of CURT 2-inch receiver hitches includes options for trucks, SUVs, crossovers, vans and passenger vehicles. Each hitch is engineered to match specific vehicle mounting points, helping provide a clean installation and dependable performance. Depending on the vehicle application, available options may include Class 3, Class 4 and heavy-duty receiver hitches with different gross trailer weight and tongue weight capacities.
A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.
CURT trailer hitches feature a durable black finish designed to help protect against rust, scratches and exposure to road conditions. Many models install using existing holes in the vehicle frame, although drilling, trimming or temporary removal of vehicle components may be required for certain applications.
Use our vehicle fitment tools to find the correct CURT 2" trailer hitch for your year, make and model. Always compare the hitch rating with your vehicle’s towing capacity and the ratings of every component in your towing setup. The maximum towing capacity is determined by the lowest-rated component.
Shop CURT 2-inch trailer hitches at TowUniverse for vehicle-specific fitment, trusted towing performance and access to the accessories needed to complete your towing setup.

You will need a 3/4" socket, 21mm socket, torque wrench, and ratchet. A tools reference guide is available at curtmfg.com/trailer-hitch-installation.
The manual recommends having a second person or using a jack to assist in lifting the hitch into position during Step 3. This is not strictly required but is recommended to make installation easier and safer.
Torque all M14 factory fasteners to 126 ft-lbs. and all 1/2" supplied fasteners to 110 ft-lbs. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightening.
Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The 13503 has a maximum GTW of 7,500 lbs. (or 8,000 lbs. with weight distribution), but your vehicle's capacity may be lower. Always follow your vehicle manufacturer's limits.

The kit includes two carriage bolts (1/2"-13 UNC, 1-3/4", grade 8), two serrated flange nuts (1/2"-13 UNC, grade 8), two round hole spacers (.188" x 1.50" x 2.00"), two square hole spacers (.250" x 1.00" x 3.00"), and two fishwire tools (1/2"). The factory M14 bolts securing the rear crossbeam are reused as part of the installation.
The manual does not specify which vehicle year, make, model or body style the 13503 is compatible with. The hitch is designed to mount to vehicles with rear crossbeams secured by M14 factory bolts. Contact CURT product support at 877.287.8634 or visit curtmfg.com to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle.
The fishwire is a tool used to guide the carriage bolt and spacer through the vehicle frame rail. Insert the coiled end of the fishwire through the hitch mounting hole and out the access hole. Pass the coiled end through the spacer and thread the bolt into the coil. Kink the wire to keep the spacer separate from the bolt. Pull the fishwire, spacer, and bolt through the frame and out the mounting hole. This technique prevents loss of the bolt or spacer inside the frame rail during installation.
1. Remove the four factory M14 bolts securing the rear crossbeam using a 21mm socket. 2. Use the fishwire technique to insert the square hole spacers (#4) and carriage bolts (#1) into the forward mounting hole of both frame rails. 3. Slide the round hole spacers (#3) onto the fishwired bolts and raise the hitch into position. Loosely reinstall the four factory M14 bolts. 4. Loosely install the supplied serrated flange nuts (#2) onto the fishwired bolts. 5. Torque all M14 fasteners to 126 ft-lbs. and all 1/2" fasteners to 110 ft-lbs.
During installation, loosely reinstall the four factory M14 bolts in Step 3 and loosely install the supplied 1/2" serrated flange nuts in Step 4. All fasteners are tightened to final torque specifications in Step 5: M14 fasteners to 126 ft-lbs. and 1/2" fasteners to 110 ft-lbs.
Torque all M14 factory fasteners to 126 ft-lbs. using a torque wrench. These are the four bolts that secure the rear crossbeam to the frame.
Torque all 1/2" fasteners (the supplied carriage bolts and serrated flange nuts) to 110 ft-lbs. using a torque wrench.
Yes. The four factory M14 bolts that secure the rear crossbeam to the frame are removed in Step 1 and then loosely reinstalled in Step 3 as part of the hitch mounting. These factory bolts are reused and do not need to be replaced.
You will need a 21mm socket to remove the four factory M14 bolts that secure the rear crossbeam to the frame.
The manual does not mention disconnecting the vehicle battery. This is a mechanical hitch installation with no electrical components, so battery disconnection is not required.

Safety glasses should be worn at all times while installing this product. The manual recommends having a second person or using a jack to assist in lifting the hitch into position to prevent injury. Proper tools will improve the quality of installation and reduce the time required.

The square hole spacers (.250" x 1.00" x 3.00") are fishwired into the forward mounting hole of both frame rails along with the carriage bolts. The round hole spacers (.188" x 1.50" x 2.00") are then slid onto the fishwired bolts before raising the hitch into position. These spacers help position and support the hitch during mounting.
The access hole is used with the fishwire technique to guide the carriage bolt and spacer through the frame rail. The fishwire is inserted through the hitch mounting hole and out the access hole (the next hole forward), allowing you to thread the bolt into the coil and pull the spacer and bolt through the frame without losing them inside the rail.
Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
