Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Toyota RAV4 (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 4,500 lbs. GTW and 675 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 4,500 lbs. WD and 675 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

The CURT 13652 has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 4,500 lbs. and a tongue weight (TW) capacity of 675 lbs. In weight distribution mode, the capacity remains 4,500 lbs. GTW with a weight distribution tongue weight (WDTW) of 675 lbs. Always verify that your vehicle's manufacturer-recommended towing capacity is not exceeded.
No, the CURT 13652 requires no drilling. Installation uses existing weldnuts in the vehicle frame.
You will need: a ratchet, an 8-inch socket extension, a 12mm socket, a 19mm socket, a torque wrench, and a 19mm torque adapter. A tools reference guide is available at curtmfg.com/trailer-hitch-installation.
The kit includes: one trailer hitch (item 1), four hex bolts M12 – 1.25 x 35mm, CL 10.9 (item 2), and four conical-toothed washers, 1/2" (item 3).
Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning. Remove stickers covering the mounting holes on the outside of the frame rails. Clean any debris from the weldnuts in the frame using spray lubricant or compressed air; for heavy debris, use a wire brush. Take care not to damage the weldnut threads.
1. Remove stickers covering holes on the outside of frame rails. 2. Raise the hitch into position and loosely secure with the supplied M12 hex bolts and conical-toothed washers. 3. Torque the M12 hardware to 86 ft-lbs. If the heat shield contacts the hitch, bend it up to prevent rattling. On some models, lowering the exhaust using a 12mm socket may ease installation; if you do this, support the exhaust.
Torque the M12 hex bolts to 86 ft-lbs.
The conical-toothed washers should be oriented with the conical teeth facing the hitch side plate, as shown in the weldnut cleaning diagram on page 2.
Exhaust lowering is not required on all vehicles. On some models, lowering the exhaust using a 12mm socket may ease installation. If you lower the exhaust, you must support it to prevent damage.
If the heat shield is contacting the hitch, bend it up to prevent rattling.
Periodic inspection of the trailer hitch should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight and structural components are secure.
