A CURT front trailer hitch allows you to use the front end of your vehicle for a variety of towing applications. They can be used for mounting a winch, a snow plow, a number of towing accessories and can even be used for some trailering applications. When space is limited, a front trailer hitch is commonly used to hold a cargo carrier, freeing up space inside the vehicle for extra cargo and making the rear mount receiver available to pull a trailer. At the boat ramp, your boat trailer can be hitched up to the front receiver hitch, giving you better control over the trailer as you launch. Some of the other accessories that can be used with a front tow hitch are the CURT winch mount, step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, skid shield and tow hooks. All CURT front trailer hitches provide a useful receiver tube to accept a 2" x 2" shank, and they are commonly used on trucks, vans and SUVs. This front trailer hitch is rated for 5,000 lbs. GTW and 500 lbs. TW. It also has a straight-line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Chevy Silverado 2500 HD or 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500 HD or 3500 HD (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware for a complete installation and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, 4 inch extension, 21mm deep socket, 18mm deep socket, and 18mm wrench.
No drilling is required. The hitch uses existing factory bolt holes and fasteners.
Torque all 14mm bolts to 126 lb-ft and all 12mm fasteners to 79 lb-ft.
The lower bumper fascia strip may need to be trimmed or removed to allow clearance for the receiver tube. The bumper itself must be removed and reinstalled during the hitch installation process.

Yes. Remove the tow loops by removing the one long bolt through both sides of the frame and the one short bolt in the bottom of the frame on both sides. 1. Remove tow loops by removing the long bolt through both frame sides and short bolt in the bottom of the frame (both sides). Support the bumper. 2. Raise hitch into position between frame rails. Reinstall bumper bolts pointing toward vehicle center and through hitch side plates; loosely install original flange nuts. 3. Reinstall tow loops and original bolts; loosely reinstall original hex flange nuts. 4. Torque all 14mm bolts to 126 lb-ft and all 12mm fasteners to 79 lb-ft.
Yes. When removing the bumper bolts in step 1, you must support the bumper to keep it from coming off the vehicle.
The lower bumper fascia strip may need to be trimmed or removed to allow clearance for the receiver tube. The trim diagram shows the fascia is 2.750 inches wide and 0.875 inches tall. Whether trimming is required depends on your specific vehicle configuration.
The installation uses 14mm and 12mm fasteners. The 14mm bolts are torqued to 126 lb-ft and the 12mm fasteners are torqued to 79 lb-ft. The installation also reuses the original factory bolts and hex flange nuts.
Do not exceed your vehicle's front axle Gross Weight Rating (GAWR). Exceeding GAWR may overload the front axle and/or suspension, which could result in accident, property damage, and personal injury. Consult your owner's manual or the specification plate on the driver's door frame. Measure gross front axle weight by placing the front wheels of your loaded vehicle on a scale.
Use OEM tow hooks, recovery eyes, or a clevis mount for attachment of a tow strap or winch cable. Never use a ball and/or ball mount as an anchor point for tow strap or winch cable, as severe personal injury or death could result.
For maximum line pull rating, the winch cable must not exceed 15 degrees angle up or down from horizontal, and must not exceed 45 degrees angle left or right from straight ahead. Exceeding these angles may overload the winch, winch mount, and/or front mounted receiver.
Attach the return cable to the tow hook or recovery eye when using a snatch block. Do not attach the return cable to the winch mount, as this may overload the winch mount and/or front mounted receiver.
Do not obstruct vehicle lights or driver view. Reposition the front-mounted license plate if obstructed. Allow free air flow into the grille opening. Rear wheel traction may be reduced, which could affect handling; reduce speed and drive with caution. Accessories extend the front of the vehicle and may reduce approach angle; use caution when parking and maneuvering.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound.
