A CURT front trailer hitch allows you to use the front end of your vehicle for a variety of towing applications. They can be used for mounting a winch, a snow plow, a number of towing accessories and can even be used for some trailering applications. When space is limited, a front trailer hitch is commonly used to hold a cargo carrier, freeing up space inside the vehicle for extra cargo and making the rear mount receiver available to pull a trailer. At the boat ramp, your boat trailer can be hitched up to the front receiver hitch, giving you better control over the trailer as you launch. Some of the other accessories that can be used with a front tow hitch are the CURT winch mount, step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, skid shield and tow hooks. All CURT front trailer hitches provide a useful receiver tube to accept a 2" x 2" shank, and they are commonly used on trucks, vans and SUVs. This front trailer hitch is rated for 5,000 lbs. GTW and 500 lbs. TW. It also has a straight-line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD and 3500 HD and GMC Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware for a complete installation and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Yes, the CURT 31091 2-Inch Front Receiver Hitch, Select Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra 2500, 3500 HD (Part #BKDK31091) is designed to fit the 2020-2026 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD.
The CURT 31091 2-Inch Front Receiver Hitch, Select Chevrolet Silverado, GMC Sierra 2500, 3500 HD (Part #BKDK31091) Drilling is not required for installation. Typical installation time is 60-90 minutes. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The CURT 31091 has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 5,000 lbs and a tongue weight (TW) capacity of 500 lbs. The straight line pull capacity is 9,000 lbs. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity.
The installation may require lower air dam trimming. During Step 5, temporarily raise the hitch into position to determine if trimming is needed or desired. If required, locate the vehicle centerline and mark a notch approximately 3-1/4" wide by 1" tall from the lower edge of the lower plastic fascia, then cut using a reciprocating saw or cutoff wheel.
Required tools include: ratchet, 18mm socket, 3/4" socket, 18mm boxed end wrench, socket extensions, reciprocating saw, torque wrench, tape, tape measure, paint marker, pry bar, and safety glasses. A tools reference guide is available at curtmfg.com/trailer-hitch-installation.
The kit includes: 2 serrated-flange nuts (1/2"), 2 square hole spacers (1/4" x 1-1/2" x 3"), 2 round hole spacers (.188 x 1-1/2" x 2"), 2 fishwires (1/2"), 2 hex bolts (M12), 2 carriage bolts (1/2"), and 2 conical-toothed washers (1/2").
No, you do not remove the tow hooks entirely. In Step 1, remove only the rearmost M12 bolts and hex flange nuts securing the tow hooks on each side. Do not remove the forwardmost bolts. Save the M12 flange nuts for reuse during final assembly.
The fishwire is a tool that guides bolts and spacers through the vehicle frame rails. Insert the coiled end of the fishwire through the hitch mounting hole in the frame rail and out the access hole. Pass the coiled end through the spacer and thread the bolt into the coil. Kink the wire to keep the spacer separate from the bolt, then pull the fishwire, spacer, and bolt through the frame. This prevents loss of bolts or spacers inside the frame rail.
Yes. Before installation, remove debris from the weldnuts in the frame by spraying lubricant or compressed air into the hole. For heavy debris, use a wire brush. Take care not to damage the threads.
1. Remove rearmost factory tow hook bolts (Step 1). 2. Remove rearmost wire harness clip on driver side (Step 2). 3. Insert fishwire through frame hole and attach carriage bolt and square hole spacer (Step 3). 4. Tape round hole spacer to frame bottom and fishwire the bolt through it (Step 4). 5. Temporarily raise hitch to check for trimming needs (Step 5). 6. Raise hitch into final position, insert M12 hex bolts and conical-toothed washers, loosely install fasteners (Step 6). 7. Torque all fasteners (Step 7).
Leave all fasteners loose during assembly. In Step 6, loosely install the factory M12 flange nuts and the 1/2" serrated-flange nuts. Only in Step 7, after the hitch is fully positioned, torque all fasteners to their final specifications.
No drilling is required. The hitch uses existing holes in the vehicle frame and tow hook mounting points. However, trimming of the lower air dam may be required or desired (see Step 5).
If trimming is needed, mark a notch approximately 3-1/4" wide by 1" tall from the lower edge of the lower plastic fascia, centered on the vehicle centerline. Use a reciprocating saw or cutoff wheel to make the cut.
Torque all 1/2" fasteners (carriage bolts and serrated-flange nuts) to 110 ft-lbs. Torque all M12 fasteners (hex bolts and factory flange nuts) to 79 ft-lbs. Apply torque in Step 7 after the hitch is fully positioned.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Proper tools will improve installation quality and reduce time required.
Periodic inspection of the trailer hitch should be performed to ensure all mounting hardware remains tight and structural components are secure. This helps prevent damage to the product or vehicle.
Vehicle applications are not specified in this manual. Contact CURT Manufacturing at 877.287.8634 or consult a fitment database to confirm compatibility with your specific vehicle make, model, and year.
The tongue weight capacity is 500 lbs. The gross trailer weight capacity is 5,000 lbs.
No. Remove only the rearmost bolts and nuts from each tow hook in Step 1. The forwardmost bolts remain in place.
Possibly. The installation may require lower air dam trimming. In Step 5, temporarily raise the hitch to determine if a 3-1/4" wide by 1" tall notch is needed.
Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 ft-lbs in Step 7.
Torque all M12 fasteners to 79 ft-lbs in Step 7.
