The CURT 22802 is a wheel chock mounting system designed for trailers. It includes a mounting bracket, two wheel chocks, hardware, and clamp brackets. The system can be installed using either a drill-based method (with pilot holes) or a clamp-on method (no drilling required). Both methods secure the wheel chocks to the trailer frame.
The manual does not specify which trailer models or types are compatible with the 22802. Before purchasing, contact CURT Product Support at 877.287.8634 or consult your trailer manufacturer to confirm fitment.
For drill installation: socket set, drill, ratchet, 11/32" drill bit, torque wrench, paint marker, and box-end wrench set. For clamp-on installation: socket set, ratchet, torque wrench, and box-end wrench set (drill and drill bit not required).
The kit includes: 1 mounting bracket, 2 wheel chocks, 4 self-tapping screws (3/8"-16 x 1"), 2 carriage bolts (3/8"-16 x 1"), 2 carriage bolts (3/8"-16 x 5"), 2 flat washers (3/8"), 4 nylock nuts (3/8"-16), and 2 clamp brackets.
No, the 22802 offers two installation methods: drill installation (which requires drilling 11/32" pilot holes) or clamp-on installation (which requires no drilling). Choose the method that suits your trailer and preference.
Yes. Before drilling, always consult your trailer manufacturer to ensure your desired location is safe and will not affect the trailer capacity. You should also check for wiring, plumbing, brake lines, or other obstructions inside and outside the mounting location before drilling or clamping.
1. Choose the desired location and orientation of the mounting bracket on the trailer. 2. Using the mounting bracket as a template, mark and drill 11/32" pilot holes. 3. Secure the mounting bracket with the provided 3/8" self-tapping screws and torque to 10 ft-lbs. 4. Remove the lynch pin to allow wheel chock installation on each support arm. 5. Re-install the lynch pins to secure the chocks on the support arms.
1. Choose the desired location and orientation with adequate clearance to install clamp brackets in front and behind the frame. 2. Loosely secure the mounting bracket to the outside clamp bracket with two short carriage bolts (3/8"-16 x 1") and two nylock nuts, rotate to desired orientation, and torque to 10 ft-lbs. 3. Position the assembly in your desired location and secure by installing two long carriage bolts (3/8"-16 x 5") above and below the frame through the second clamp bracket, then secure with flat washers and nylock nuts torqued to 10 ft-lbs. 4. Remove the lynch pin to allow wheel chock installation on each support arm. 5. Re-install the lynch pins to secure the chocks on the support arms.
Drill 11/32" pilot holes using the mounting bracket as a template to mark the desired location.
Torque the 3/8" self-tapping screws to 10 ft-lbs.
Torque all nylock nuts to 10 ft-lbs. This applies to both the short carriage bolts (3/8"-16 x 1") used in clamp-on installation Step 2 and the long carriage bolts (3/8"-16 x 5") used in clamp-on installation Step 3.
Wheel chocks must always be used in pairs (multiple pairs may be required in extreme situations). Apply chocks on the downhill side of the tires. On a level grade, use chocks in front and rear of the tires. Chocks must be installed flush and centered on the tires to function effectively. Always ensure the parking brake is applied and functioning before installing wheel chocks. Do not use wheel chocks if there are any visual signs of damage.
Improper wheel chock use may result in property damage, serious injury, or death. Damaged wheel chocks may not work effectively and should not be used. The end user is responsible for validating that the chock is acceptable for their specific application, including placement, wheel size, grade, ground/surface conditions, and vehicle weight.
Yes. Periodic inspection of your product should be performed to ensure all hardware and/or components remain secure.
