A CURT front trailer hitch allows you to use the front end of your vehicle for a variety of towing applications. They can be used for mounting a winch, a snow plow, a number of towing accessories and can even be used for some trailering applications. When space is limited, a front trailer hitch is commonly used to hold a cargo carrier, freeing up space inside the vehicle for extra cargo and making the rear mount receiver available to pull a trailer. At the boat ramp, your boat trailer can be hitched up to the front receiver hitch, giving you better control over the trailer as you launch. Some of the other accessories that can be used with a front tow hitch are the CURT winch mount, step pad, license plate holder, spare tire mount, skid shield and tow hooks. All CURT front trailer hitches provide a useful receiver tube to accept a 2" x 2" shank, and they are commonly used on trucks, vans and SUVs. This front trailer hitch is rated for 5,000 lbs. GTW and 500 lbs. TW. It also has a straight-line pull rating of 9,000 lbs. It is designed to be a custom trailer hitch for certain years of the Cadillac Escalade, Chevy Avalanche, Chevy Silverado, Chevy Suburban, Chevy Tahoe, GMC Sierra and GMC Yukon (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see application info). It comes with all necessary hardware for a complete installation and is backed by a limited lifetime warranty.

Yes, Curt part number 31302 is designed for GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado models. However, the manual does not specify which model years are compatible. Contact Curt Technical Support at 1-877-287-8634 to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle year, cab style, and bed length.
The Curt 31302 has a gross load capacity of 5,000 lbs. trailer weight and 500 lbs. tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch, or 9,000 lbs. maximum line pull when used as a straight-line pull hitch. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower than these ratings.
The hitch weight is 120 lbs.
Only if your vehicle has tow hooks. Models with tow hooks require removal of the factory bolt from the underside of the frame at the forward attachment point before installation begins.
The kit includes: 4× 1/2"-13 UNC 2-1/2" grade 8 carriage bolts (part 10-10306); 6× 1/2"-13 UNC 1-1/4" grade 8 hex cap screws (part 10-10470); 10× 1/2"-13 UNC grade 8 serrated flange nuts (part 20-00062); 4× 0.250" × 1.00" × 2.00" square hole spacers (part CM-SP12); and 4× 1/2" × 30" fishwire (part 1_2 x 30 FISHWIRE). The fishwire may require cutting.
Only if you choose the through-bumper configuration. The through-bumper configuration requires cutting a 3" square hole into the plastic fascia, positioned on the vehicle centerline 3.5" below the top edge of the plastic fascia. Alternatively, the hitch can be installed in a below-bumper configuration by reversing the cross member, which does not require cutting the bumper.
1. If your vehicle has tow hooks, remove the factory bolt from the underside of the frame at the forward attachment point. 2. Use fishwire to thread the 1/2" carriage bolts and spacers through the frame as shown in the diagram. 3. Fasten the frame brackets to the frame using 1/2" flange nuts, leaving them loosely installed to allow adjustment. Reinstall factory fasteners if they were removed. 4. Install the cross member between the brackets and secure with the hex bolts and flange nuts provided. 5. Tighten all bolts to the proper torque specification of 110 lb-ft for 1/2" fasteners.
All 1/2" fasteners must be tightened to 110 lb-ft.
The manual does not specify which tools are required. Contact Curt Technical Support at 1-877-287-8634 for a complete tool list. At minimum, you will need a torque wrench capable of measuring 110 lb-ft, and if choosing the through-bumper configuration, a tool to cut a 3" square hole in the plastic fascia.
Periodically check the hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify a maintenance interval. Contact Curt Technical Support at 1-877-287-8634 for recommended inspection intervals.
