When your vehicle does not readily provide an electrical connection for hooking up your trailer, CURT electrical converts offer the solution. Working tail lights on your trailer are absolutely essential any time you tow, and a converter provides an effective way to properly equip your vehicle for safe towing. A CURT electrical converter, much like our custom vehicle-to-trailer wiring harnesses, provides a trailer connector on your vehicle by slicing into the vehicle's electrical system. Electrical converters are designed to splice directly into the taillight wiring, rather than plugging into various sockets, giving them the nickname "taillight converters". Though it requires a little extra work compared to a custom wiring harness, a tail light converter offers a reliable, long-term connector solution. This converter wiring kit is intended to be used with various CURT powered taillight converters. Powered converters require a direct connection to the vehicle's battery, and the powered converter wiring kit #55151 provides all of the components needed to establish a secure connection. The kit includes 20 feet of 12 gauge wire, a 10-amp fuse, an in-line fuse holder, a 3/8" ring terminal, a butt connector, a 14-1/2" cable tie and eight 6" cable ties. This wiring kit is rated at 10 amps and comes included with CURT powered electrical converters #59146, #59187, #59190, #59200 and #59201.

It converts and distributes power from the vehicle's battery to trailer brake, taillight, and turn signal circuits. The kit includes a converter module, wiring harness with color-coded wires (red for brake, brown for taillight, yellow for left turn, green for right turn), a white ground wire with ring terminal, butt connectors, a fuse holder with 10 amp fuse, cable ties, double-sided tape, and a mounting screw.
The Curt 55151 converter is designed for use only on 12 volt negative ground systems. It is not compatible with positive ground or 24 volt systems.
