The kit includes: (1) Wiring Harness with 4-Flat Connector, (1) 48" 4-Flat Extension, (20) 15" Cable Ties, (1) 4-Flat Bracket, and (3) #8 Self-Tapping Ground Screws.
You will need a drill with a 3/32" bit, a fish tape to route the 4-Flat connector through the wheel well, and a screwdriver. A clean metal surface is required for the ground connection.
The factory wire harness connectors are located underneath the vehicle, mounted on the rear frame rail. The driver side has 6-pin connectors and the passenger side has 5-pin connectors.
Yes. Unplug the factory connectors and inspect them for dirt and debris. Clean them if necessary before connecting the RV harness connectors.
Starting on the driver's side, position the RV harness connectors containing Yellow wires between the separated vehicle harness connectors. Press the connectors firmly into the vehicle connectors until they lock into place. Pull on the connectors to ensure the locks are engaged. Repeat this process on the passenger side with the T-Connector ends containing Green wire.
Yes. You must drill two 3/32" holes: one near the RV harness ends to mount the ground connection, and two more for the 4-Flat bracket in the engine compartment. Take care not to drill through the vehicle body or any exposed surfaces.
Drill a 3/32" hole in a clean, accessible metal surface near the RV harness ends, within reach of the white wire and ring terminal. Remove any debris or undercoating to expose clean metal before drilling.
Drill two 3/32" holes in the engine compartment. Use the 4-Flat bracket as a template to mark the hole locations before drilling.
Attach the ring terminal on the white wire using one of the #8 self-tapping ground screws provided. The screw fastens into the 3/32" hole you drilled in the clean metal surface near the RV harness ends.
Cut the cable ties on the 4-Flat portion of the harness. Starting at the rear of the vehicle, route the harness along the factory wire harness that runs along the rear frame rail until you reach the front driver's side wheel well. Secure it with cable ties as you go.
Avoid areas containing moving parts or where wires could be cut, pinched or burned. Do not route the harness near fuel lines, as this may cause fuel to ignite. Failure to follow these warnings may cause property damage, personal injury or loss of life.
Remove the clips on the driver's side wheel cover. Use a fish tape, starting at the left side of the front driver's side wheel well, route it up and over to the right side. Secure the 4-Flat connector to the fish tape and pull it through the wheel well cover into the engine compartment.
Mount the 4-Flat bracket in the engine compartment along the driver's side wall in a suitable location. Use the bracket as a template to mark two holes, drill two 3/32" holes, and attach the bracket using two of the remaining #8 self-tapping screws.

Plug the 4-Flat extension into the RV harness on one end and the motorhome on the other. Test that the functions work on the Chevrolet Colorado or GMC Canyon. These functions will only work on the brake/tail combination lamp.
Secure any loose wires to the vehicle's crossmember using the cable ties provided in the kit.
Store the 4-Flat extension in the vehicle's glove box when not in use.
The RV harness includes a connection point labeled "FOR TRAILER TOW USE ONLY: 4-FLAT HARNESS REQUIRED." If you want to tow a trailer, you can leave the RV harness on the vehicle and plug in a converter and 4-Flat harness part number 58919 to be ready to tow.
