Choosing the right gooseneck hitch is only half the battle in preparing your pickup truck for towing a gooseneck trailer. CURT gooseneck hitches are a premium option in the heavy-duty towing industry, but they are only one of the members in the heavyweight tag team that is CURT gooseneck towing. While a gooseneck hitch gets all the glory above the floor of your truck bed, gooseneck installation brackets provide sure footing and a solid foundation for that oversized gooseneck trailer. Gooseneck installation brackets work by bolting onto the frame of your truck, typically using pre-existing holes. With a set of brackets firmly bolted on, a gooseneck hitch is able to be attached and is given the strength it needs to manage the massive amount of weight of a gooseneck trailer. With so many gooseneck hitch options available from CURT, we wanted to make sure we offered the gooseneck installation products needed to give you a complete towing package. Our installation brackets fit multiple vehicles and hitch heads. This particular set of gooseneck installation brackets is able to work with certain CURT Double Lock gooseneck hitches. It is rated to the vehicle's maximum gross trailer weight capacity and provides a custom fit for certain years of the Toyota Tundra with 6.5' bed (see application info to verify fitment). With each gooseneck installation bracket sub kit, we provide the necessary hardware for an easier installation, and we coat our gooseneck brackets in a liquid A-coat to make sure rust and other potential damages are not a problem.

The installation sequence is: (1) Mark and drill the 4-inch hole in the truck bed floor. (2) Lower the spare tire and remove the rear-most heat shield; disconnect the electrical wire harness and bend the weld nut tabs straight down. (3) Remove the rear exhaust hanger bracket and disconnect the fuel pump control box. (4) Install the rear cross arm (one set of notches) and front cross arm (two sets of notches) from beneath the truck. (5) Raise the center section into position between the cross arms with the receiver tube facing the front of the truck. (6) Install the blocker plate to the inside flange of the center section. (7) Install the mounting plates (sideplates) to the inside of the frame rails. (8) Torque all fasteners in the specified order. (9) Re-attach the exhaust hanger and fuel pump control box; raise the spare tire back into position.
From under the truck, lift the passenger side of the rear cross arm (the one with only one set of notches) over the exhaust and onto the top of the frame. Push it above the frame as far in as possible and rotate the driver side of the arm up onto the driver side frame rail. When the arm spans the frame, push it back against the bed frame rail. Repeat this process for the front cross arm (two sets of notches), keeping the second set of notches facing the front of the truck. Once the front arm spans the frame, push it forward to the front bed frame rail.
Raise the center section into position between the cross arms from beneath the truck. The round receiver tube that protrudes from the center section must face towards the front of the truck and fit through the hole in the truck bed floor. If using an overhead lifting device, attach it to the receiver tube to help support the center section. Align the middle four threaded holes in the cross arms with the center section slots, and fasten the center section to the cross arms using (8) 1/2-inch x 1 1/2-inch bolts, with a flat washer and 1/2-inch lock washer on each. Install the blocker plate to the inside flange of the center section. Use the overhead lifting device to put some upward pressure on the center section if necessary to aid alignment.
Slide the angles up between the cross arms with the slotted holes toward the top. Push them towards the frame of the truck. When properly fit, the two flanges of the sideplates will fit in between the C-channel of the frame. Attach them to the cross arms using 5/8-11 x 1 1/2-inch hex bolts, 5/8-inch washers, and 5/8-inch lock washers. Then attach the plates to the frame using 5/8-11 x 1 1/2-inch carriage bolts and flange nuts. Make sure to install the carriage bolts correctly, or the handle to the center section will not install properly.
Torque all 1/2-inch fasteners to 110 ft.-lbs and all 5/8-inch fasteners to 210 ft.-lbs. Torque in the following order: (1) First, torque the sideplates to the frame. (2) Second, torque the sideplates to the cross arms. (3) Third, torque the center section to the cross arms.

Brake lines must be cable tied to prevent pinching or cutting of the brake lines when the truck is loaded. The manual emphasizes this with a warning: "Brake lines MUST be cable tied as shown to prevent pinching of or cutting of brake lines when truck is loaded!" Failure to properly secure brake lines can result in brake system failure and safety hazards.
The ball cannot be turned over with this kit. If the ball is turned over and a heavy load is applied, the ball will interfere with the rear axle, causing damage. The manual states: "Ball can not be turned over with this kit! Ball will interfere with rear axle if turned over and heavy load is applied!" On two-wheel drive trucks, a clearance check must be performed when the truck is both loaded and unloaded to verify that the inverted ball will not interfere with the top of the differential. This check is necessary because the suspension geometry of two-wheel drive trucks may differ from four-wheel drive models, and the hitch ball position relative to the differential may change with load.
On short bed models, you must check for adequate turning clearance between the front of all trailers and the truck cab. Before towing, perform the maintenance checks listed below.
Maintenance is required every 30 days or prior to use: (1) Keep the hitch ball lubricated regularly using silicone spray or equivalent to prevent wear and rust. (2) Keep the hitch assembly free of dirt and other foreign debris. (3) Check for proper torque on all nuts and bolts before each use and check for excessive wear. (4) Check for ball wear before each use. Do not tow a trailer with worn or damaged parts.
