A CURT bumper hitch mounts onto your vehicle's bumper, rather than the frame, and provides a receiver tube for a ball mount, cargo carrier, bike rack or other hitch-mounted insert. Unlike a bumper mount, which is simply a hole in the vehicle's bumper for installing a trailer ball, a bumper hitch allows for adjustment and flexibility in towing application. This CURT receiver-style bumper mount hitch accepts a 2" x 2" ball mount shank and can tow up to 5,000 lbs. of gross trailer weight and 500 lbs. of tongue weight. This makes the bumper hitch a great choice for hauling many smaller types of trailers, including boat trailers, utility trailers, popup campers and more. It should be noted, however, that the weight carrying capacity is always dependent on the bumper's weight capacity rating. CURT bumper mount hitches come with a gloss black powder coat finish and provide a simple towing solution. They easily bolt onto the bottom of a step bumper on a pickup truck or SUV and offer a lower hitch point to provide level trailer towing. Each model comes complete with mounting hardware and safety chain hookups.

A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.
CURT trailer hitches feature a durable black finish designed to help protect against rust, scratches and exposure to road conditions. Many models install using existing holes in the vehicle frame, although drilling, trimming or temporary removal of vehicle components may be required for certain applications.
Use our vehicle fitment tools to find the correct CURT 2" trailer hitch for your year, make and model. Always compare the hitch rating with your vehicle’s towing capacity and the ratings of every component in your towing setup. The maximum towing capacity is determined by the lowest-rated component.
Shop CURT 2-inch trailer hitches at TowUniverse for vehicle-specific fitment, trusted towing performance and access to the accessories needed to complete your towing setup.

This hitch has a gross trailer weight capacity of 5,000 lbs. and a tongue weight capacity of 500 lbs. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower. Check your vehicle's owner manual or manufacturer specifications to confirm the maximum towing weight your vehicle can safely handle.
This hitch is designed to mount to the underside of the original vehicle step plate. Compatibility depends on your vehicle having an original step plate with either existing mounting holes or the ability to drill new ones. Consult the product documentation or contact CURT Manufacturing at 1.877.287.8634 to confirm fitment for your specific vehicle make, model, and year.
The kit includes: two 3/4" x 3" hex bolts, two 3/4" hex flange nuts, two 1/2" x 2" hex bolts, two 1/2" hex flange nuts, and two 1/4" x 1.5" x 1.5" spacers. The spacers are only used if there is a welded tab on the underside of the bumper.
Only if existing holes are not present. The hitch mounts to the underside of the original vehicle step plate using existing holes if available. If existing holes cannot be used, you will need to mark and drill four new holes: two for 3/4" bolts and two for 1/2" bolts.
1. Position the hitch to the underside of the original vehicle step plate. 2. Use existing holes if present; if not, mark and drill holes for two 3/4" bolts and two 1/2" bolts. 3. Assemble using two 3/4" x 3" bolts and 3/4" flange nuts on the outer holes, and two 1/2" x 2" bolts and 1/2" flange nuts on the inner holes. 4. Use the provided 1/4" x 1.5" x 1.5" spacers under the 3/4" bolts only if there is a welded tab on the underside of the bumper. Tighten all nuts securely.
Use the two 1/4" x 1.5" x 1.5" spacers under the 3/4" bolts only if there is a welded tab on the underside of the bumper. If there is no welded tab, do not use the spacers.
Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. Although this hitch is rated for 5,000 lbs. gross trailer weight and 500 lbs. tongue weight, your vehicle may have a lower maximum towing capacity. Always refer to your vehicle manufacturer's specifications to determine the safe towing limit for your specific vehicle.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify an exact inspection interval, so establish a regular maintenance schedule—for example, before each towing trip or monthly if the hitch is in regular use.

Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
