However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Kia Forte (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.

Yes, part number 11368 is designed for Kia Forte Sedan models from 2014 to present. Confirm your vehicle is a sedan and not another body style, as fitment may differ.
The hitch has a gross load capacity of 2000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
Non-trailer (wheel-less) loads can be applied to this hitch, but they must be supported by Curt part number 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads with these straps will void the product warranty.
The hitch is designed for use with ballmount part number 45521 (D-21) or Euro ballmounts part numbers 45571 (1 7/8" ball) or 45572 (2" ball).
You will need: a torque wrench, ratchet, sockets (9/16", 10mm, and 17mm), a screwdriver, a wire pipe brush (for weld nut cleaning), and safety glasses. Proper tools will improve installation quality and reduce installation time.
The manual does not specify battery disconnection as a requirement for this installation.
Two people may be required to ease installation, though the manual does not state this as a strict requirement. Having a second person will help when raising the hitch into position.
No, drilling is not required. The hitch uses existing weld nuts in the vehicle frame for attachment.
Yes. You must lower the exhaust by disconnecting the rubber isolator from the exhaust hanger before raising the hitch into position. After securing the hitch, the exhaust is raised back to its original position.
Yes. You must remove the underbody panel on the driver side of the vehicle by removing 4 M10 nuts and 3 push fasteners. These fasteners and the panel should be returned to the customer after installation.
1. Remove the driver-side underbody panel (4 M10 nuts and 3 push fasteners). 2. Lower the exhaust by disconnecting the rubber isolator. 3. Raise the hitch by lifting the passenger side first, then the driver side, and loosely secure the tow loop with the U-bolt. 4. Loosely secure the 4 M10 bolts into the vehicle frame weld nuts. 5. Torque the U-bolt to 30 lb-ft, then the M10 bolts to 51 lb-ft. 6. Raise the exhaust back to its original position.
Loosely securing means threading the fasteners by hand or with a ratchet without fully tightening them. This allows for alignment and positioning of the hitch before final torque is applied. The U-bolt and M10 bolts are tightened to their specified torque values only in step 5.
The 3/8" U-bolt must be torqued to 30 lb-ft. This is the first fastener to be torqued; the M10 bolts are torqued to 51 lb-ft immediately after.
The 4 M10 bolts must be torqued to 51 lb-ft. These are torqued after the U-bolt is torqued to 30 lb-ft.
Weld nut cleaning may be required before securing the M10 bolts into the vehicle frame weld nuts. If the weld nuts are dirty or corroded, use a wire brush or lubricant to clean them. This ensures proper bolt engagement and torque.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection helps maintain the integrity and safety of the installation.
Safety glasses should be worn at all times while installing this product.
The kit includes: 4 M10x1.25 hex head cap screws (part 10-10373), 6 S-CON washers 3/8" (part 30-00148), 2 hex nuts 3/8"-16 UNC grade 8 (part 20-00166), and 1 U-bolt 3/8"-16 x 2.25 x 1.00 (part not numbered in parts list).
