However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Mazda 3 (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.

The CURT Class 1 Trailer Hitch, 1-1/4" Receiver, Select Mazda 3 Trailer Hitch (Part #BKDK11377) fits the following vehicles: 2014-2018 Mazda 3. Always verify your specific year, make, and model before ordering.
The CURT Class 1 Trailer Hitch, 1-1/4" Receiver, Select Mazda 3 Trailer Hitch (Part #BKDK11377) fits 2014-2018 Mazda 3 models. The 2018 model year is the last year covered by this part number. For newer models, check for an updated version.
The CURT Class 1 Trailer Hitch, 1-1/4" Receiver, Select Mazda 3 Trailer Hitch (Part #BKDK11377) Drilling is not required for installation. Typical installation time is 30-60 minutes. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
Yes, part number 11377 is designed for 2014 Mazda Mazda3 in both sedan and hatchback body styles. The installation procedure differs slightly between the two: hatchback models require temporary exhaust lowering, while sedan models require bumper trim.
The hitch is rated for a maximum of 2,000 lbs trailer weight and 200 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
Non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this hitch must be supported by Curt part number 18050 Stabilizing Straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. Contact Curt or check their website for information on the 18050 straps.
Required tools include: safety glasses, torque wrench, ratchet, 3/4" socket, socket extension (6"), tape measure, masking tape, and aviation shears. A torque wrench is essential because all 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 lb-ft.
No, drilling is not required. The hitch uses existing frame rail attachment points and a fishwire fastening technique to route bolts through the frame.
Two people may be required to ease installation, though the manual does not state this is mandatory. If you are hesitant to undertake the task alone, Curt recommends contacting an authorized installer.
Bumper trimming is required only on sedan models. The lower bumper cover must be trimmed on both sides as shown in the installation diagram. Hatchback models do not require bumper trimming.
Exhaust lowering is required only on hatchback models. Remove the four rubber isolators from the muffler to lower the exhaust temporarily during installation, then raise it back into position and reinstall the isolators after the hitch is mounted. Sedan models do not require this step.
Fishwire is a technique to route bolts through frame rail attachment holes without drilling. Remove masking tape from the forward attachment point and thread the supplied 1/2" fishwire through the frame holes. Attach the two forward carriage bolts and spacers to the fishwire on both sides, then pull them through. Reverse-pull the two rearward bolts and spacers into the rear holes. Leave the wires on temporarily while raising the hitch, then remove them and install the hex flange nuts.
All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 lb-ft. This is the final step after the hitch is raised into position and all nuts are loosely installed.
The kit includes: four 1/2" fishwires, four 0.250 x 1.00 x 3.00" square hole spacers (part CM-SP6), four 1/2-13 UNC carriage bolts, 1-1/2" long, Grade 8 (part 10-10287), and four 1/2-13 UNC serrated flange nuts, Grade 8 (part 20-00062).
After installation, periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This maintenance is important for safe operation.
The hitch is designed for use with Curt Euro mount ball options: part number 45571 (1 7/8" ball) and part number 45572 (2" ball). It is also compatible with part numbers D-21 and 45521.
