However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It.
Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV.
This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Toyota Camry (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount.
This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc).
Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.

CURT offers a variety of high-quality trailer hitches and accessories for select vehicle models. Find the perfect fit for your towing needs at TowUniverse.

Yes, the hitch is designed to work with both FWD and AWD vehicles. The exhaust removal procedure differs slightly: FWD vehicles have 2 rubber isolators, while AWD vehicles have 1 rubber isolator.
Installation involves 8 main steps: removing underbody panel trim and fasteners, lowering the exhaust, relocating the backup alarm, removing access hole plugs, enlarging access holes with a die grinder, trimming and reinstalling the heat shield, raising the hitch into position and securing it, and trimming and reinstalling the underbody panel. The process requires lowering the exhaust, trimming the underbody panel, and hole enlargement.
Yes. The manual states: "Support the exhaust during removal to prevent damage." This is necessary when removing the rubber isolators and muffler bracket bolts in Step 2.
The reverse fishwire technique is used to install carriage bolts through the frame rails. Attach the fishwire to the carriage bolt, slide the spacer onto the fishwire, push the bolt through the hole followed by the spacer, then pull the bolt back into position so it protrudes from the frame. This technique is used in Step 5 to install one 1/2" carriage bolt and square-hole spacer into each enlarged access hole.
To remove debris from weldnuts in the frame, spray lubricant or compressed air into the hole. For heavy debris, use a wire brush. Take care not to damage threads.
Remove eight (8) trim clips, two (2) plastic retainers using a 12mm socket, three (3) more plastic retainers using a 10mm socket, and one (1) bolt using a 10mm socket. Set the underbody panel aside for trimming and reinstallation in Step 8.
In Step 2, remove the rubber isolators (2 for FWD vehicles, 1 for AWD vehicles). Use a 12mm socket to remove the two (2) bolts securing the rearmost muffler bracket and return them to the customer. Using a 10mm socket, remove the two (2) nuts securing the heat shield to the vehicle body and set the heat shield aside for trimming and reinstallation. Support the exhaust during removal to prevent damage.
In Step 3, use a 10mm socket to remove the backup alarm. Unclip the wiring harness from the bracket before removing it.
Using a flathead screwdriver, remove one (1) access hole plug per side and two (2) thread plugs on the passenger side. Return these to the customer.
In Step 5, use a die grinder to enlarge the access holes in both frame rails. After enlargement, reverse fishwire one (1) 1/2" carriage bolt (#1) and square-hole spacer (#4) into each enlarged access hole.
In Step 6, trim the heat shield as shown in the diagram on page 5. The diagram indicates trim dimensions of 4-1/2", 3-1/4", 3", and 1-1/2". Reinstall the trimmed heat shield.
In Step 8, trim the underbody panel as shown in the diagram on page 5. The diagram indicates trim dimensions of 4-1/2", 3-1/4", 3", and 1-1/2". Reinstall the trimmed underbody panel using the fasteners set aside in Step 1.
Raise the hitch into position and secure it using the serrated-flange nuts (#3) on both frame rails. Reinstall the removed exhaust hanger using the supplied M8 flange bolts (#2). Reinstall the exhaust isolator(s). Torque M8 fasteners to 23 lb-ft and 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft.
