However you define adventure -- whether it's climbing onto the back of a mountain bike, hunting from the top of a tree stand or camping with the family a long way from nowhere -- CURT class 1 hitches provide a light-duty towing receiver to help you Bring It. Each is made to fit a specific vehicle, providing easier installation, a better fit and optimal towing capacity. Custom class 1 trailer hitches are available for a variety of smaller vehicle types, including the compact car, crossover, minivan and small SUV. This particular class 1 hitch is designed to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Toyota Prius C (to verify vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). Tested in accordance with SAE J684, it offers a weight carrying capacity of 2,000 lbs. GTW and 200 lbs. TW. It is equipped with 1-1/4" receiver tube opening to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch mount. This class 1 hitch also comes with all necessary mounting hardware. With its lightweight design and smaller receiver tube size, a class 1 hitch is especially useful for adding cargo space with a hitch-mounted bike rack or cargo carrier. They can also typically be used to tow small trailers such as a utility trailer, kayak trailer or teardrop camper (never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component; i.e. the vehicle, hitch, trailer, etc). Though CURT class 1 trailer hitches are only intended for light-duty towing, we apply the same principles of quality as we do to the rest of our rear mount hitches. Each class 1 hitch is made with hands-on engineering, high-strength steel and precise welding. We use a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat, inside and out, and durable black powder coat to provide a lasting defense against rust, chips and UV rays.

Yes, CURT part number 11484 is designed for 2012-Present Toyota Prius C Hatchback models. Before purchasing, verify your vehicle matches this specification and confirm your vehicle's manufacturer towing capacity, as you must never exceed it.
The CURT 11484 is rated for a maximum trailer weight of 2,000 lbs and a tongue weight of 200 lbs when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
The CURT 11484 is designed for use with CURT ballmount #45521. Euro mount options are also available: #45571 (1-7/8" ball) and #45572 (2" ball).
You will need: a ratchet, torque wrench, 12mm socket, 13mm socket, screwdriver, and safety glasses. A torque wrench is essential because all M8 hardware must be torqued to exactly 23 ft-lbs.
No, the CURT 11484 requires no drilling. It uses existing M8 weldnuts on the frame rails and existing bolt holes on the bumper supports.
You must remove the center underbody panel (5 plunger-style fasteners) and the fascia tabs from the trunk pan (2 plunger-style fasteners). You must also remove 6 bolts that secure the bumper supports to the frame. Save the fascia tab fasteners for reinstallation; return the underbody panel fasteners and bumper support bolts to the owner.
Two people may be required to ease installation. The manual recommends reading all instructions thoroughly and using proper tools to improve installation quality and reduce time.
1. Remove the center underbody panel (5 plunger fasteners); return fasteners and panel to owner. 2. Remove 2 plunger fasteners securing fascia tabs to trunk pan; save these fasteners. 3. Remove 6 bolts securing bumper supports to frame (support bumper while removing). 4. Gently flex fascia tabs back and raise hitch into position. 5. Secure hitch to frame rail using supplied M8 hex bolts and 3/8" conical washers. 6. Torque all M8 hardware to 23 ft-lbs. 7. Secure fascia tabs using fasteners removed in step 2.
All M8 hex bolts must be torqued to 23 ft-lbs. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightness, as under- or over-torquing can affect hitch performance and safety.
The CURT 11484 includes 6 M8×1.25×30 hex cap screws (HHCS), class 10.9, zinc-plated (part number 10-10440) and 6 3/8" conical washers (part number 30-00148). These are used to secure the hitch to the frame rail weldnuts.
All non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to the hitch must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads will void the product warranty. See the CURT catalog or www.curtmfg.com for further information on stabilizing straps.
Wear safety glasses at all times during installation. Support the bumper when removing the 6 fasteners that secure the bumper supports to the frame to prevent the bumper from falling. Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection helps maintain safe operation and prevents loosening due to vibration and use.
Yes, the CURT 11484 complies with safety specifications and requirements for connecting devices and towing systems of the state of New York, V.E.S.C. Regulation V-5 and SAE J684.
