Typically used on full-size cars, crossovers, compact SUVs, minivans or even compact pickup trucks, a CURT class 2 trailer hitch complements the design of smaller vehicles. This particular class 2 hitch is made to be a custom hitch for certain years of the Buick Regal TourX (to verify vehicle compatibility, see application info). It offers a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 350 lbs. TW. Class 2 trailer hitches can typically be used to tow a variety of lightweight trailers, such as a small utility trailer, small fishing boat trailer or popup camper (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest weight capacity of any towing component). They are also perfect for adding cargo space to your vehicle with a bike rack or cargo carrier. This class 2 hitch features a 1-1/4" receiver tube to accept a ball mount shank or other hitch-mounted accessory. For safety, it is tested in accordance with SAE J684. A custom trailer hitch design requires extra care, and as such, CURT class 2 hitches are engineered using real vehicles and hands-on research. We use high-strength steel, robotic welding and rigorous testing to produce hitches that are built to fit your lifestyle. To ensure that each hitch will be a reliable extension of your vehicle, we also finish our hitches in a co-curing of liquid A-coat and black powder coat, giving them long-lasting rust and wear resistance.

Required tools are: ratchet, torque wrench, 8" socket extension, 7mm socket, 13mm socket, 15mm socket, 11/16" socket, masking tape, aviation shears, needle nose pliers, and safety glasses. Using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce installation time.
The hitch includes: (4) M10x1.5 flange nuts (20-00164), (4) 7/16" fishwire (7_16 FISHWIRE), (4) 7/16-14 UNC 1-1/2" carriage bolts grade 8 (10-10282), (4) 7/16-14 UNC grade 8 serrated flange nuts (20-00103), (4) .250 x .88 x 2.25" square hole spacers (CM-SP2), (2) .250 x 1.50 x 2.00" square hole spacers (CM-SP1), and (4) M10x1.5 65mm hex head cap screws class 8.8 (10-10125).

No, drilling is not required. The installation uses existing mounting holes on the frame rails.
Two trimming tasks are required: (1) Trim the heat shield using aviation shears as shown in the Heat Shield Trim Diagram (approximately 12.00" x 2.50" area). (2) Optionally trim the center fascia tab as shown in the Fascia Tab Trim Diagram (approximately .250" cut line) to ease installation. All dimensions are approximate; confirm fit prior to trimming.
Installation sequence: (1) Lower exhaust by removing 2 bolts on each side using 15mm socket; support exhaust to avoid damage. (2) Remove heat shield using needle nose pliers to loosen speed nuts, trim using aviation shears, and reinstall. (3) Fishwire 2 carriage bolts and 2 CM-SP2 spacers through access hole and out mounting holes on each side. (4) Remove 1 screw on each side using 7mm socket from rear fascia. (5) Raise hitch into position and secure using 2 flange nuts on each side. (6) Reinstall exhaust bracket on hitch mounting plate using 2 M10x70 bolts and 1 CM-SP1 spacer on each side. (7) Torque all hardware.
Fishwire is a technique used to thread fasteners through tight spaces. For this hitch, you use the 7/16" fishwire (included) to thread 2 carriage bolts and 2 CM-SP2 spacers through the access hole and out the mounting holes on each side of the frame rail. Refer to the Fishwire Technique Diagram in the manual for the detailed procedure.
No, you only need to lower the exhaust. Remove the 2 bolts attaching the exhaust bracket to the rear of the vehicle on each side using a 15mm socket. Support the exhaust to avoid damage. After installing the hitch, reinstall the exhaust bracket on the hitch mounting plate.
Torque all 7/16" hardware to 59 ft-lbs and all M10 hardware to 45 ft-lbs. This includes the 7/16" carriage bolts and flange nuts, and the M10x1.5 hex head cap screws.
Wear safety glasses at all times while installing this product. Support the exhaust to avoid damage when lowering it. Before beginning installation, read all instructions thoroughly.
