This particular kit fits certain years of the Volkswagen Atlas (excluding Cross Sport; see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 6,000 lbs. GTW and 900 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. The kit includes: 4 bolts (part 10-10287, 1/2-13 UNC, 1-1/2", Grade 8, yellow zinc), 4 square hole spacers (CM-SP6, .250 x 1.00 x 3.00"), 4 serrated flange nuts (part 20-00062, 1/2-13 UNC, Grade 8, yellow zinc), and 1/2" x 30" fishwire (qty 4). All fasteners are Grade 8 yellow zinc plated.

1. Use fishwire to thread 2 of the 1/2" carriage bolts and CM-SP6 spacers into the existing holes in each frame rail (both driver and passenger sides). Note: removal of underbody coating from the access hole may be required. 2. Raise the hitch into position and loosely secure it with the 1/2" hex flange nuts. 3. Torque all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft using a torque wrench.
Fishwire is a flexible wire tool used to thread the carriage bolts and spacers through the existing holes in the vehicle's frame rails. It is required because the holes are not directly accessible and the fishwire allows you to guide the bolts into position from the access holes on both sides of the frame. The kit includes 1/2" x 30" fishwire for this purpose.
Removal of underbody coating from the access hole may be required. This depends on your specific vehicle and how much coating is present around the access holes on both sides of the frame rails.
All 1/2" fasteners must be torqued to 110 lb-ft. This includes the 1/2-13 UNC carriage bolts and the 1/2-13 UNC hex flange nuts. Use a torque wrench to ensure proper tightness.
All non-trailer (wheel-less) loads applied to this hitch must be supported by CURT 18050 stabilizing straps. Non-trailer loads include cargo carriers, bike racks, or other equipment that does not have wheels. Do not apply such loads without the stabilizing straps. Although the CURT 13366 is rated for 6,000 lbs trailer weight and 900 lbs tongue weight, your Volkswagen Atlas may have a lower maximum towing capacity.
