Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 or GMC Sierra 1500 (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 6,000 lbs. GTW and 600 lbs. TW. It is also compatible with a weight distribution hitch for level towing and a rating of 10,000 lbs. WD and 1,000 lbs. WDTW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

Professional installation time is approximately 110 minutes. Novice (DIY) installation time is approximately 53 minutes for single exhaust models and 60 minutes for dual exhaust models.
For dual exhaust models, the exhaust system may need to be temporarily lowered during installation. You will need to remove the exhaust hanger bracket on the driver side and the three hex bolts securing the driver side exhaust bezel. The exhaust can then be moved out of the way as necessary. After the hitch is installed, the exhaust hanger brackets and bezel are reinstalled.
Some models may require adjustment to the factory safety chain loops to provide clearance for the hitch pin. If needed, use an adjustable wrench to bend the loops upward as needed.
Torque the factory M14 hardware to 126 ft-lbs.
1. Remove the two existing hex bolts from the frame on both sides of the vehicle. 2. Raise the hitch into position and loosely secure the side plates to the frame using the factory hardware. 3. Torque the factory hardware to 126 ft-lbs. 4. Check that all fasteners are tight and structural components are sound.
1. Using a 15mm socket, remove the exhaust hanger bracket on the driver side. Remove the passenger side exhaust hanger bracket hardware but leave the bracket on the exhaust hanger. 2. Using a 10mm socket, remove the three hex bolts securing the driver side exhaust bezel and save them for reinstallation. 3. Remove the two existing hex bolts from the frame on both sides of the vehicle. 4. Raise the hitch into position and loosely secure the side plates to the frame using the factory hardware, moving the exhaust out of the way if necessary. 5. Torque the factory hardware to 126 ft-lbs. 6. Reinstall the exhaust hanger brackets and bezel.
Initially, loosely secure the side plates to the frame using the factory hardware. Only after the hitch is positioned should you torque the factory hardware to 126 ft-lbs.
Periodically check that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. This should be done after installation and at regular intervals during use.
