Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Fiat 500X (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 525 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. Required tools are: 10mm socket, 13mm socket, 21mm socket, 3/4" socket, 3" socket extension, ratchet, torque wrench, die grinder, safety glasses, and a utility knife. A fishwire is also needed for the bolt insertion technique.

Professional installation takes approximately 90 minutes. Novice (DIY) installation takes approximately 45 minutes. Actual time may vary depending on experience and vehicle condition.
No drilling is required. However, the rearmost hole on each frame rail must be enlarged using a die grinder to 1.125 inches in diameter to allow the carriage bolts and spacers to be inserted. This is a permanent modification to the frame rail.
Yes. In Step 3, clear away caulk as necessary near the mounting holes using a utility knife. This ensures proper fitment of the hitch to the frame.
Fishwire is used to guide the carriage bolts through the frame rail holes. In Step 4, fishwire two 1/2" carriage bolts and CM-SP10 spacers into the forwardmost holes on the outside of each frame rail. Reverse fishwire two 1/2" carriage bolts and CM-SP10 spacers into the rearmost hole on the bottom of each frame rail. Keep the wires attached until the hitch is raised into position. In Step 5, pull the fishwires through the mounting locations on the hitch to guide the bolts into place.
The hitch includes: four 1/2"-13 UNC carriage bolts, 1-3/4" long, Grade 8, zinc-plated (part 10-10272); four 0.250 x 1.00 x 2.50" square hole spacers (CM-SP10); four 1/2"-13 UNC serrated flange nuts, Grade 8, zinc-plated (part 20-00062); and four 1/2" fishwires.
Yes. In Step 1, remove the rearmost rubber plugs on the bottom of each frame rail and the forwardmost rubber plugs on the outside of each frame rail. If your vehicle has a factory tow hook, remove the M14 bolts in these locations using a 21mm socket instead, and skip to Step 3.
Yes. In Step 3, remove one plastic nut from each wheel well near the frame rail using a 10mm socket. After torquing the hitch in Step 6, reinstall these plastic nuts.
All 1/2" hardware must be torqued to 110 ft.-lbs. If your vehicle has a factory tow hook and you are reusing the factory M14 hardware, torque those bolts to 135 ft.-lbs. instead.
After pulling the fishwires through the mounting locations on the hitch and raising it into position, carefully remove the fishwires and loosely secure the hitch with hex flange nuts using a 3/4" socket. If your vehicle has a factory tow hook, loosely install the factory M14 hardware instead. Do not fully tighten until Step 6.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify a retorque interval, so inspect before each towing use.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Read all instructions thoroughly before beginning installation. Using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce the time required.

Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
