Whatever your task at hand -- whether it's launching that boat before daybreak, setting up your camper before the rush or getting a final load to the dump before close -- CURT class 3 trailer hitches offer the strength needed for serious towing. They make it easy to hitch up and Bring It, offering a vehicle-specific fit and the weight capacity to handle a variety of trailers. Custom class 3 hitches are the most common type of receiver hitch for pickup trucks and SUVs. Because of their weight range, they are also found on full-size cars, crossovers and minivans. Each custom-fit class 3 hitch package is made for vehicle-specific mounting. This particular kit fits certain years of the Mercedes-Benz GLK250 (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 525 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. To ensure that CURT class 3 receiver hitches have what it takes for serious trailering, they are designed using a hands-on approach and are constructed with rugged, high-strength steel and precise welding. We also protect our class 3 hitches in a co-cured finish of liquid A-coat and black powder coat for superior resistance to rust, chipping and UV damage.

Yes. Curt part number 13155 is designed specifically for the 2013 Mercedes-Benz GLK250 BLUETEC SUV. Before purchasing, verify your vehicle's year, make, model, and body style match exactly.
The hitch is rated for a maximum of 3,500 lbs trailer weight and 525 lbs tongue weight when used as a weight-carrying hitch. However, you must never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity, which may be lower.
Non-trailer loads (wheel-less loads) can be applied to this hitch only if they are supported by auxiliary stabilizing straps. Curt recommends part number 18050 stabilizing straps for all non-trailer loads. Failure to properly support non-trailer loads with stabilizing straps will void the product warranty.
Required tools include: flat head screwdriver, power drill with 1/2" drill bit, die grinder, ratchet, T40 short torx bit, 11/16" and 3/4" sockets, 6" socket extension, wire brush, and a torque wrench. Using proper tools will greatly improve installation quality and reduce installation time.
Two people may be required to ease installation. The manual recommends that if you are hesitant to undertake this task on your own, you should contact an authorized Curt installer for additional assistance. The installation is rated as moderate difficulty.
Yes. You must drill out the center inboard section of the plastic fascia support webbing and enlarge it to accommodate a 3/4" socket for tightening the hitch to the nut plates over the bumper beam. A power drill with a 1/2" drill bit and a die grinder are required for this step.
Yes. The exhaust must be lowered during installation. You must remove (2) isolators on the driver side muffler, (2) isolators on the passenger side muffler, and (2) isolators forward of the mufflers. The exhaust can pivot on the driver side at the ball joint location for increased access to the rear vehicle mounting location. The exhaust is raised back into position in step 14 after the hitch is secured.
Yes. Remove the exhaust tips by removing T40 torx screws from 3 locations on each side of the vehicle using a short torx bit and ratchet extension. The tips are reinstalled when hitch installation is complete, in step 16.
Yes. Remove 3 fascia clips from each side of the vehicle using a flat head screwdriver. This allows the fascia to flex slightly for socket access during installation. The fascia clips are reattached in step 15 after the hitch is secured.
The hitch includes: 3 nut plate weldments (CM-NP1W), 8 hex head cap screws 1/2-13 UNC x 5" (part 10-10294), 2 serrated flange nuts 7/16-14 UNC (part 20-00103), 4 hex head cap screws 1/2-13 UNC x 2-3/4" (part 10-10551), 12 conical toothed washers 1/2" (part 30-00149), and 2 carriage bolts 7/16-14 UNC x 1" (part 10-10311).
No. All fasteners are initially finger-tightened during assembly (steps 8, 10, and 12). Final torquing occurs only after the hitch is fully positioned and all mounting points are secured. Do not fully tighten fasteners until step 13.
Torque all 1/2-13 x 5" hex bolts to 75 lb-ft. Torque all remaining 1/2" hardware to 110 lb-ft. Torque all 7/16" hardware to 70 lb-ft. These torque values are applied in step 13 after all fasteners have been finger-tightened and the hitch is properly positioned.
Slide the hitch as far forward as possible, but do not let it rest on the weld seam on the vehicle bumper beams. This positioning is critical and must be done before finger-tightening the bolts in step 8.
Yes. The nut plate weldnut threads may need to be cleaned with a wire brush before assembly. A wire brush is included in the required tools list. This cleaning step is performed in step 5 before placing the nut plates over the bumper beam.
After installation is complete, periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. This ongoing inspection is essential for safe operation and to maintain warranty coverage.
The manual states you should periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure all fasteners are tight and all structural components are sound. While a specific interval is not provided, regular inspection before towing is recommended as part of vehicle maintenance.
Safety glasses must be worn at all times while installing this product. Before beginning installation, read all instructions thoroughly. Using proper tools will greatly improve the quality of the install and reduce the time required.
