This particular kit fits certain years of the Subaru Crosstrek and XV Crosstrek (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 525 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. Use 1.50" x 2.00" round hole spacers to level the hitch as necessary. 5. Install the remaining supplied hardware (nuts). 6. Torque all fasteners.
Fishwire is a tool used to guide bolts and spacers through the frame rail access holes into position. The 7/16" fishwire is used first to position the 7/16" carriage bolts and spacers. The 1/2" reverse fishwire is then used to position the 1/2" carriage bolts and spacers from the opposite direction. These tools help you thread the fasteners into the frame without pushing them out of alignment.
Torque all 7/16" fasteners to 70 lb-ft and all 1/2" fasteners to 110 lb-ft. Use a 3/8" drive torque wrench to ensure proper tightness. After installation, periodically check all fasteners to ensure they remain tight.
After fishwiring the bolts and spacers into position, raise the hitch to the frame and align the holes in the hitch with the bolts. Use the .250 x 1.50 x 2.00" round hole spacers (CM-SP16) to level the hitch as necessary. The manual notes to be careful not to push the bolts in the frame during this process.
