This particular kit fits certain years of the Toyota Highlander and Lexus RX300 (see application info to verify vehicle compatibility). It provides a weight carrying capacity of 3,500 lbs. GTW and 350 lbs. TW. CURT class 3 trailer hitches are typically used to attach and haul utility trailers, boat trailers, campers, snowmobile or ATV haulers and more (NOTE: Never exceed the lowest-rated towing component). Each class 3 hitch has a 2" receiver tube and is tested in accordance with SAE J684 for safety. The kit includes 6 hex tap bolts (part number 10-10298) and 6 washers (part number 30-00148, S-CON 3/8 YZ). These fasteners attach the hitch to the frame rails at three threaded holes on each side.
You will need a torque wrench capable of tightening to 48 lb.-ft., a socket set to fit 10mm fasteners, and a jack or lift to raise the vehicle safely to access the frame rails underneath.
You must remove the tie-down brackets on both the left and right frame rails under the rear of the vehicle and return them to the customer. You also need to remove the plastic caps in the forward threaded holes. These holes will be used to mount the hitch.
Raise the hitch into position under the vehicle frames and over the exhaust. Then attach it at three threaded holes in each frame rail using the provided fasteners.
All M10 hardware must be torqued to 48 lb.-ft.
