For a little extra towing power and stability, this multi-fit hitch can also be used in combination with a weight distribution system, bringing its gross trailer weight capacity up to 16,000 lbs. and its tongue weight capacity up to 1,600 lbs. Equip your vehicle for towing and hitch-mounted accessories with a dependable CURT 2" trailer hitch. Designed for a vehicle-specific fit, CURT receiver hitches provide a strong and secure connection point for towing trailers, carrying bikes, transporting cargo and using other compatible 2-inch hitch accessories.
Our selection of CURT 2-inch receiver hitches includes options for trucks, SUVs, crossovers, vans and passenger vehicles. Each hitch is engineered to match specific vehicle mounting points, helping provide a clean installation and dependable performance. Depending on the vehicle application, available options may include Class 3, Class 4 and heavy-duty receiver hitches with different gross trailer weight and tongue weight capacities.
A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.
CURT trailer hitches feature a durable black finish designed to help protect against rust, scratches and exposure to road conditions. Many models install using existing holes in the vehicle frame, although drilling, trimming or temporary removal of vehicle components may be required for certain applications.
Use our vehicle fitment tools to find the correct CURT 2" trailer hitch for your year, make and model. Always compare the hitch rating with your vehicle’s towing capacity and the ratings of every component in your towing setup. The maximum towing capacity is determined by the lowest-rated component.
Shop CURT 2-inch trailer hitches at TowUniverse for vehicle-specific fitment, trusted towing performance and access to the accessories needed to complete your towing setup.

Yes, part number 15510 fits 1967-2015 Ford pickups in the full-size, old body style (excluding F-150 New Body). Your 1985 F-250 is within this range and is compatible.
Yes, but only if it is 2WD. The 15510 is compatible with 1999 Ford F-450 Cab & Chassis in 2WD configuration only. 4WD versions are not supported.
Yes, the 15510 is compatible with full-size Dodge pickups. However, the installation procedure depends on the model year. For 1972-1993 vehicles, you must remove the spare tire and hanger bolt. For 1994-1996 vehicles, you must remove the rear exhaust hanger bracket instead.
No. The 15510 is designed for full-size Chevrolet/GMC pickups that are not short box. Short-box models are explicitly excluded from compatibility.
Yes, the 15510 is compatible with 1988-1999 Chevrolet/GMC Long and Short Cab & Chassis models that have a 34" frame.
For Ford pickups, the side plate flanges point outwards for 37 1/2" frames and inwards for 34" frames. This orientation difference affects how the hitch is positioned relative to the frame rails during installation.
Yes, the spare tire must be removed for all applications. For Ford and Chevrolet/GMC models, it is temporarily removed during installation. For Dodge 1972-1993 models, the spare tire and hanger bolt must be removed. For Dodge 1994-1996 models, the rear exhaust hanger bracket must be removed instead.
Only if your Dodge is a 1994-1996 model. For these years, you must remove the rear exhaust hanger bracket before installation and reinstall it afterward. For 1972-1993 Dodge models, you remove the spare tire and hanger bolt instead, not the exhaust.
Yes, drilling is required for Ford applications. You must drill six 1/2" holes through the frame rails using the hitch as a template. The holes are positioned so that the rivet head in the frame rails is located just forward of the rearmost side plate flange.
Yes, drilling is required for Dodge applications. After installing one 1/2" carriage bolt into an existing hole, you use the hitch as a template to drill 1/2" holes for the remaining hardware.
No, drilling is not required for Chevrolet/GMC applications. All mounting holes already exist in the frame, and the hitch bolts directly to the frame using existing holes.
You must drill 1/2" holes through the frame rails. For Ford applications, you drill six holes. For Dodge applications, you drill additional holes after installing one bolt into an existing hole.
Yes, for Chevrolet/GMC applications, the bumper reinforcement brackets must be removed and discarded as part of the installation process.
The parts list varies by vehicle application. All versions include 1/2-13 UNC carriage bolts (part 10-10272), 1/2-13 UNC hex flange nuts (part 20-00062), 7/16-14 UNC carriage bolts (part 10-10281), 7/16-14 UNC hex flange nuts (part 20-00172), and CM-SP1 spacers (.250 x 1.50 x 2.00"). Ford and Dodge applications also include CM-SP4 spacers (.250 x 1.50 x 3.00"). Chevrolet/GMC applications include a CM-SP141 spare tire "L" bracket and one 1/2-13 UNC hex cap screw (part 10-10334).
Six 1/2-13 UNC carriage bolts (part 10-10272, 1-3/4" long) are included in all applications.
These are square hole spacers that are installed between the hitch side plate and frame rail to ensure proper alignment and spacing. CM-SP4 spacers (.250 x 1.50 x 3.00") are used on Ford and Dodge applications. CM-SP1 spacers (.250 x 1.50 x 2.00") are used on all applications. The spacers are installed with the carriage bolts and hex flange nuts.
No, the manual does not indicate reuse of factory fasteners. All fasteners are provided in the kit. However, for Chevrolet/GMC applications, you must remove and discard the bumper reinforcement brackets.
All 1/2" hardware (carriage bolts and hex flange nuts) must be torqued to 110 lb-ft. This applies to all vehicle applications.
All 7/16" hardware (carriage bolts and hex flange nuts) must be torqued to 59 lb-ft. This applies to Ford and Dodge applications.
The hitch weight specification is not provided in the manual.
The gross load capacity specifications for trailer weight and tongue weight are not provided in the manual.
The gross load capacity specifications for trailer weight and tongue weight are not provided in the manual.
Do not exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The hitch itself does not set the limit; your vehicle's capacity does. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual for the maximum towing weight.
The hitch can be installed on a Dodge 1 ton dually, but the spare tire cannot be replaced. This is a permanent limitation of this hitch on that vehicle.
Periodically check the receiver hitch to ensure that all fasteners are tight and that all structural components are sound. The manual does not specify a retorque interval or other maintenance procedures.

All applications include 1/2" and 7/16" carriage bolts, hex flange nuts, and spacers. Chevrolet/GMC applications also include a spare tire bracket. All fasteners are Grade 8 and provided in the kit.
Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used.
