Towing your vehicle behind your RV is a great way to experience more of the adventure on your cross-country excursions. Whether you're towing a compact car or a full-size truck, CURT has the perfect solution to help you Bring It! CURT towed-vehicle RV harnesses are a vehicle-specific, plug-and-play solution to wiring your vehicle for dinghy towing. They use original-equipment-compatible connectors to plug into your vehicle's wiring system without any cutting, splicing or soldering required. They provide a standard 4-way flat connector to plug into the RV socket and synchronize the vehicle's tail lights, turn signals and brake lights with the RV's. Because each towed-vehicle RV harness has a vehicle-specific design, installation is fast and easy. This particular RV dinghy towing wiring harness is designed for specific years of the Chevy Equinox with LED taillights. CURT RV harnesses are also built to provide long-lasting operation. They feature integrated block diodes that protect the vehicle's circuits from the RV signals. They isolate the sensitive vehicle electronics, keeping them from overheating and short circuiting. Every CURT towed-vehicle RV harness comes ready to install with all necessary hardware included. They also come with a 4-way flat extension to provide plenty of length to plug into the RV socket, as well as a connector mounting bracket to mount the connector on the vehicle.

The CURT Custom Towed-Vehicle RV Wiring, Select Chevrolet Equinox with LED Taillights Trailer Connector Kit (Part #BKDK58974) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The CURT 58974 is an RV wiring harness designed for SUVs and vans. It allows your RV harness to also function as a trailer light harness, enabling your vehicle's taillights to work with trailer lights when connected via a 4-flat connector.
The CURT 58974 is designed for SUVs and Vans (designated as S-type vehicles). The manual does not provide a specific list of vehicle models or years. Contact CURT or consult a fitment database for your specific vehicle.
Required tools are: ratchet, small flathead screwdriver, socket extension, fish wire, Torx bit T-15, and electrical tape. Fish wire can be made from a cut-up wire hanger, stiff wire, rope or string depending on what is needed for the installation.
Yes. Step 1 requires you to locate the vehicle battery in your owner's manual, disconnect the negative battery terminal, and fasten this wire down and away from the battery during installation. Reconnect it after all installation steps are complete.
Remove the taillight by pulling it straight back. At the rear of the light are alignment tabs that are pressure-fit into the vehicle body. Loosen these tabs by wiggling them side to side. Separate the connectors carefully, taking care not to damage the locking tabs. Repeat on the other side of the vehicle.
Fish wire is used to push or pull electrical wire through blind holes. Insert the fish wire through the blind hole and locate it on the other side. Use tape to secure the harness to the fish wire and pull back up. If the wire gets hung up, you may need to push back down, wiggle it around, or twist it to loosen it. Fish wire can be made from a cut-up wire hanger, stiff wire, rope or string.
Starting on the driver side, run a fish wire down between the body and the bumper cover. From under the vehicle, locate the side of the custom RV harness with the yellow wire. Attach the yellow wire to the fish wire and pull the harness up to the factory harness. Once connected, reconnect the taillight. Repeat on the passenger side using the green wire of the RV harness.
You may need to drill a 3/32" pilot hole for the ground wire, but only if an existing screw or bolt is not available near the grounding point in the vehicle frame. The area should be free from rust, dirt, and paint—use an abrasive pad or paper to clean it. Before drilling, check for hidden items behind or under any surface to avoid damage and personal injury.
Two fasteners are removed from the taillight area using a T-15 Torx bit. Use a small flathead screwdriver to pry off the two fastener covers first. The manual does not provide torque specifications for reinstallation.
The custom RV harness includes a yellow wire (driver side), a green wire (passenger side), and a white ground wire. The yellow wire is attached to the fish wire and pulled up to the factory harness on the driver side. The green wire is routed along the backside of the bumper on the passenger side. The white ground wire is secured to a grounding point with a ring terminal.
Route the 4-flat wire above the rear drive line, suspension mounts and the body, securing it with zip ties. Route it along the fuel tank between the tank and the driver-side sub frame to the rear of the front tire. From the driver-side engine compartment, use fish wire to route the 4-flat up between the inner fender and exterior fender. Route it along the driver-side inner fender and mount it next to the vehicle ground lug on the driver side. Keep wiring away from hot spots, pinch points and moving objects.
Do not exceed the product rating or tow vehicle lamp load rating, whichever is lower. Additionally, keep all wiring away from hot spots, pinch points and moving objects. Do not over-tighten zip ties, as this can cause wire breakage over time.
Once the custom wiring harness is installed, verify that it is functioning by attaching the 4-flat to any vehicle with functioning trailer lights. The taillights on the tow vehicle should function along with the taillights on the towing vehicle. After the function tests are complete, reinstall the taillight fasteners.
Periodic inspection of all wires and connections should be performed to ensure there is no visible damage or loose connections. Install the provided 4-flat dust cover to help prevent corrosion.
