A CURT custom wiring harness (also called a T-connector) is a simple, plug-and-play electrical device that eliminates the need for cutting, splicing and soldering when installing vehicle-to-trailer wiring. Most vehicles do not come ready to tow. Unless your vehicle has a towing package, it is probably not equipped with a trailer wiring connector. This is where CURT's custom wiring harnesses come into play. Custom wiring harnesses plug into your vehicle's electrical system using original equipment (OEM) connectors. Our custom wiring harnesses use two or more OEM connectors to plug in at the taillight assembly and provide a standard trailer socket to allow a trailer to be plugged into your vehicle's power system. This harness provides a 5-way flat connector socket and is designed to be a custom wiring harness for certain years of the GMC Terrain or Chevrolet Equinox (to verify your vehicle compatibility, see the CURT application guide at curtmfg.com). CURT custom wiring harnesses are long-lasting and quick to install. They come with dust covers to keep your connector clean when not in use and feature a one-year limited warranty to give you peace of mind.

Yes, Curt part number 56594 is designed for Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain vehicles. The manual does not specify model years or body styles, so contact Curt or your retailer to confirm your specific vehicle year and configuration are supported.
You will need a drill with a 3/32" bit (if you need to create a grounding point), a screwdriver, and basic hand tools. The manual provides cable ties and an eyelet with screw for grounding. If an existing grounding point with a screw and nut is available on the vehicle's frame, drilling may not be necessary.
Open the rear hatch. On each side of the vehicle, remove the two fasteners (marked A and B in the manual) holding each taillight assembly in place. Keep these fasteners for reinstallation.
The vehicle's taillight wiring harness is located behind the driver side taillight. It will have connectors similar to those on the T-Connector harness.
Locate the vehicle's taillight wiring harness behind the driver side taillight. Carefully separate the connectors without damaging the locking tabs. Insert the T-Connector end with the yellow wire between the separated connectors. Ensure the connectors are fully inserted with locking tabs in place. Repeat this process on the passenger side using the green wire connector.
Route the T-Connector end with the green wire down through the opening under the driver side taillight. Under the vehicle, route it across the backside of the bumper and up through the opening under the passenger side taillight. This routing ensures the 5-flat connector ends up near the center of the vehicle.
The T-Connector has a yellow wire, a green wire, and a white wire. The yellow and green wires connect to the taillight harness connectors. The white wire is used for grounding.
Locate a suitable grounding point near the connector, such as an existing screw with nut in the vehicle's frame. If no suitable point exists, drill a 3/32" hole and secure the white wire using the eyelet and screw provided with the kit.
Drilling is required only if a suitable existing grounding point (a screw with nut in the vehicle's frame) is not available near the connector. If you must drill, use a 3/32" bit to create a hole for the white wire grounding eyelet.
Drill a 3/32" hole for the grounding eyelet if an existing screw with nut is not available on the vehicle's frame.
Before drilling, verify that miscellaneous items hidden behind or under any surface will not be damaged. This precaution avoids damage to vehicle components and personal injury.
Secure the 4-flat to the center of the vehicle in a convenient out-of-the-way location. Use the cable ties provided to secure any loose wires.
