CURT OEM puck system 5th wheel legs allow for faster, easier and more secure installation of your CURT 5th wheel hitch. They utilize the truck bed mounting platform, called the puck system, built into certain pickups today with the towing prep package. Using a set of anchors, the legs quickly and easily drop into the pucks, instantly equipping the truck for 5th wheel towing. This set of 5th wheel legs is designed to fit the puck system in select model years of the Ford F-250, F-350 and F-450 Super Duty with 8-foot bed (see application info to verify fitment). With a gross trailer weight capacity of 24,000 lbs., the legs are compatible with most CURT 5th wheel hitches (weight capacities are limited to the lowest-rated towing component). The most unique feature of CURT OEM puck system 5th wheel legs is their quarter-turn anchoring system. This system is the key to streamlined 5th wheel towing. With the hitch head initially bolted onto the legs, the legs can quickly be installed or removed from the truck bed as needed, simply by turning the anchor handles. The quarter-turn anchors supply the necessary strength for towing heavy-duty 5th wheel trailers, and they feature an adjustable design to perfectly lock the hitch into place and eliminate any chucking noises. To give you confidence in every job you undertake with your truck, we give our OEM puck system 5th wheel legs a durable carbide black powder coat finish. This makes them highly resistant to scratches, rust and UV damage. We also back our 5th wheel legs with a limited lifetime warranty to put your mind at ease with every new mile.

Yes, the CURT 16017 is designed as a Ford OEM compatible 5th wheel hitch and mounts to the factory 5th wheel mount position in the truck bed. Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The trailer and its contents combined must not exceed the tow vehicle, hitch, and/or trailer tow ratings. Exceeding rated capacity may result in hitch separation, damage to the hitch, towing vehicle, trailer, or serious injury or death. Additionally, never position yourself or others under the trailer's kingpin area during coupling and uncoupling, as improperly coupled trailers can separate and drop without notice.
Do not expose your hands, body parts, or clothing between the truck and trailer or between the truck's bed sides and trailer. Extreme care should be observed to avoid serious injury to yourself, property, and observers. Never position yourself or others under the trailer's kingpin area during coupling and uncoupling.
1. Remove the latch pin securing the lock handles in the closed position and open the handles 90°. 2. Remove all four cotter pins securing the castle nuts and loosen the castle nuts until you achieve a minimum of 1/8" clearance between the lock bolt and the bottom surface of the puck. 3. Assemble the legs loosely to the 5th wheel head using the 14mm hardware provided and lower the assembly onto the factory mount position in the truck bed. 4. Tighten the bolts to 100 ft-lbs. 5. Adjust the castle nuts tension until the locking bolt is snug when handles are rotated to the lock position. 6. Re-install the cotter pins. 7. Close all four locking handles and secure them using the provided safety pins.
The leg bolts connecting the legs to the 5th wheel head must be tightened to 100 ft-lbs.
During initial assembly, loosen the castle nuts until you achieve a minimum of 1/8" clearance between the lock bolt and the bottom surface of the puck. This clearance is adjusted before the legs are mounted to the hitch head.
After the legs are bolted to the hitch head at 100 ft-lbs, adjust the castle nuts tension until the locking bolt is snug when the handles are rotated to the lock position. The handles should close with moderate hand pressure only. Do not over-tighten the castle nuts or force the handles to the closed position, as this will strip the handles and result in hitch failure.
The two provided safety pins (3/8" x 1 3/4" long) are used to secure all four locking handles in the closed position after assembly is complete. They prevent accidental opening of the handles during towing.
The four cotter pins secure the castle nuts in their adjusted position. They are removed during initial assembly to allow the castle nuts to be loosened and adjusted, then re-installed after the castle nuts are properly tensioned to prevent them from loosening.
Yes. You must read and understand the instructions before using this product. The manual should be provided in its entirety to the end-user, and the installer must fully instruct and demonstrate the operation of the 5th wheel hitch to the user, including the importance of observing all warnings contained in the manual and on the hitch itself.
