This replacement coupler tube is for the CURT CrossWing 5th wheel hitch for gooseneck. It is designed to replace the existing tube that allows the hitch to be mounted onto a gooseneck ball. This package comes with the tube and hardware. The hitch and other components are not included.

The CURT 19280 gooseneck ball coupler (#10) will only work with a 2-5/16" diameter gooseball. Verify your truck's gooseneck ball diameter before installation.
Bed support rails and plastic pads are required for installation into a traditional pickup truck bed but are sold in a separate kit. Failure to use them in certain applications may void the vehicle warranty. Confirm whether your application requires them before installation.
The CURT 19280 has a gross trailer weight (GTW) capacity of 20,000 lbs. and a vertical load capacity of 5,000 lbs. Never exceed the towing capacity of any towing system component or your vehicle.
You will need a ratchet, torque wrench, socket set, and wrench set. Proper tools will improve the quality of installation and reduce the time required.
Torque the M20 flange nut (#5) to 100 ft-lbs. This is the carriage bolt fastener that secures the hitch to the gooseneck coupler.
Torque each M14 hex head cap screw (#8) to 50 ft-lbs. These screws must be allowed to make contact with the gooseneck coupler.
Use the 130mm long carriage bolt (#3) for lower gooseneck balls and the 90mm long carriage bolt (#4) for taller gooseneck balls. The correct bolt length ensures the square neck seats properly in the coupler and allows the 14mm hex head cap screws to contact the gooseneck coupler.
Insert both clevis pins (#7) into the gooseneck ball coupler (#10) and secure with lynch pins (#2). The lynch pins should face to the front of the vehicle. Always ensure lynch pins are installed through the handle before towing.
Do not expose hands, body parts or clothing between the truck and trailer or the truck's bed sides and trailer. If you must place any part of your body under the trailer or between truck and trailer, you must: (1) block all trailer tires with wheel chocks, (2) make sure trailer landing gear/jacks are resting on a firm, level surface, and (3) ensure the towing vehicle is stationary with automatic transmission in park (manual in neutral), emergency brake applied, and engine off.
Do not torque the upper M20 head pivot bolt (#6). The nut is designed to only make contact but not apply clamping force. If the bolt is torqued, it could cause the bolt to fail, causing hitch separation during use and leading to severe injury or death. If the hitch head appears loose, the 20mm bolt can be removed and inspected for damage; if any cracks or damage are visible, immediately discontinue use of the hitch.
The 20mm carriage bolt must completely protrude through the 20mm flange nut and 20mm jam nut. In addition, the 14mm hex head cap screws must be allowed to make contact with the gooseneck coupler. If either of these conditions does not occur, it may indicate that the gooseneck ball is at too low a position to work with the hitch. This condition could cause the carriage bolt to fail, causing hitch separation during use and leading to severe injury or death.
Prior to towing, ensure all components and hardware are structurally sound and secure. Always perform a pull test before towing. Never position anyone under the trailer's kingpin area during coupling and uncoupling. Always ensure lynch pins are installed through the handle before towing.
The CURT 19280 has a moderate installation difficulty level. Installation difficulty levels are based on time and effort involved and may vary depending on the installer's level of expertise, condition of the vehicle, and proper tools and equipment.
The CURT 19280 works with gooseneck ball couplers with a 2-5/16" diameter gooseball. For traditional pickup truck beds, bed support rails and plastic pads (sold separately) are required. Confirm your gooseneck ball diameter and truck bed type before purchasing.
