Draw-Tite has designed custom-fit trailer hitches since 1946 and is one of North America's most widely fitted hitch brands. Receiver hitches use solid all-welded construction and low-profile designs that follow modern vehicle contours, install with minimal bumper cutting or drilling, meet or exceed V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards, and carry a limited lifetime warranty.
Draw-Tite has been leading custom-fit trailer hitch design and engineering since its founding in 1946, and it remains one of the most widely fitted hitch brands in North America. The company's stated approach is straightforward: every hitch is tested rigorously so that it performs well beyond published industry standards, a philosophy it markets as Tested Tough. It sits within the Horizon Global towing group alongside Reese, Fulton, Bulldog, Tekonsha, Bargman and Wesbar.
Custom fit is the defining characteristic. Rather than adapting a universal design, Draw-Tite engineers a trailer hitch for a specific make, model and model year, so it bolts to existing frame locations with minimal bumper cutting or drilling. Low-profile designs follow the rear contours and aerodynamic styling of modern vehicles, which matters more than it once did now that rear fascias are shaped and sensor-equipped. Construction is solid all-welded steel for maximum strength, and every hitch meets or exceeds V5 CSA and SAE J684 standards and is backed by a nationwide limited lifetime warranty.
The range spans receiver sizes and classes to suit different loads, from 1-1/4 inch receivers for bike racks, cargo carriers and light trailers up through 2 inch receivers for heavier towing. Front mount hitches add a receiver at the front of the vehicle for winch mounts, snow plows, spare carriers and precise trailer positioning.
The Hidden Hitch series takes concealment further by mounting behind the vehicle's rear fascia, so the vehicle keeps its factory appearance until a removable receiver is fitted. Each is custom designed per make and model for a no-drill installation that does not compromise ground clearance, rated for up to 3,500 pounds gross trailer weight and 350 pounds tongue weight. Matching plug-and-play wiring completes the towing system.

Equip your vehicle for towing and hitch-mounted accessories with a dependable CURT 2" trailer hitch. Designed for a vehicle-specific fit, CURT receiver hitches provide a strong and secure connection point for towing trailers, carrying bikes, transporting cargo and using other compatible 2-inch hitch accessories.
Our selection of CURT 2-inch receiver hitches includes options for trucks, SUVs, crossovers, vans and passenger vehicles. Each hitch is engineered to match specific vehicle mounting points, helping provide a clean installation and dependable performance. Depending on the vehicle application, available options may include Class 3, Class 4 and heavy-duty receiver hitches with different gross trailer weight and tongue weight capacities.
A 2" x 2" receiver opening is one of the most common hitch sizes and works with a wide range of towing accessories, including ball mounts, bike racks, cargo carriers, hitch steps and tow hooks. When towing a trailer, you may also need a properly rated trailer ball, hitch pin, wiring harness, brake controller or weight distribution system.
CURT trailer hitches feature a durable black finish designed to help protect against rust, scratches and exposure to road conditions. Many models install using existing holes in the vehicle frame, although drilling, trimming or temporary removal of vehicle components may be required for certain applications.
Use our vehicle fitment tools to find the correct CURT 2" trailer hitch for your year, make and model. Always compare the hitch rating with your vehicle’s towing capacity and the ratings of every component in your towing setup. The maximum towing capacity is determined by the lowest-rated component.
Shop CURT 2-inch trailer hitches at TowUniverse for vehicle-specific fitment, trusted towing performance and access to the accessories needed to complete your towing setup.

Part 41929 fits Dodge Ram Pickup models 2006–2008, including 1500 short bed, 1500 long bed, 2500, and 3500 models. It is designed to work with or without an OEM hitch. Confirm your model year and bed length before purchasing.
Yes, part 41929 is compatible with 1500 short bed models. However, installation on short bed models requires drilling forward holes in the frame, cutting the inner exhaust support rod, and potentially relocating the spare tire if it is 18" or 20" diameter.
Yes, part 41929 fits long bed models. Installation requires drilling the forward-most hole in the frame and one hole in the bumper bracket, as shown in Figure 1. No exhaust support rod cutting is required on long bed models.
On 2006–08 1500 short bed models, an 18" spare tire will require removal of the tire locator bracket. A 20" spare tire must be relocated from under the bed. Check your spare tire size and location before installation.
Required tools: wrenches in 3/4", 13/16", and 15/16" sizes, a 1/2" drill bit, and a torque wrench. For 1500 short bed models only, a hack saw is required to cut the exhaust support rod. Fishwire is supplied with the kit.
The fastener kit F41929 includes: 2× hex bolts 9/16-12 × 2.0" GR5, 6× carriage bolts 1/2"-13 × 1.75" GR5, 2× flat washers 9/16", 2× lock washers 9/16", 6× lock washers 1/2", 6× hex nuts 1/2", 2× hex nuts 9/16-12, and 4 blocks in various sizes (.25 × 1.50 × 2.00, .25 × 1.50 × 3.50, .375 × 1.50 × 3.00, and .25 × 2.00 × 2.00).
No. The optional locking stabilizing pin (J-pin, part number 7651) must be ordered separately.
Yes. On 1500 short bed models, you must drill two forward holes in the frame rail. On long bed models, you must drill one forward hole in the frame rail and one hole in the bumper bracket. Use a 1/2" drill bit. The hitch is used as a template to mark hole locations.
Yes. On 2006–08 1500 short bed models only, you must cut the inner exhaust support rod and remove it from the rubber exhaust isolator. Use a hack saw. This modification is permanent and applies only to short bed models.
No. The manual explicitly states: "Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch." Use a drill with a 1/2" bit for frame holes and a hack saw for the exhaust support rod on short bed models.
Tighten all 9/16-12 fasteners with a torque wrench to 110 Lb.-Ft. (149 N·m).
Tighten all 1/2-13 fasteners with a torque wrench to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N·m).
The hitch has two capacity ratings depending on type: Weight Distributing hitch: max gross trailer weight 15,000 lb (6,810 kg), max tongue weight 1,500 lb (681 kg). Weight Carrying Ball Mount: max gross trailer weight 12,000 lb (5,448 kg), max tongue weight 1,200 lb (545 kg). Do not exceed the lower of the towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or these hitch ratings.
A 1/2" drill bit is required to drill frame holes on short bed and long bed models.
Raise the hitch into position by moving it forward to clear the bumper mounting bolts, then slide it rearward into position. Align the holes in the hitch with the holes in the frame rail and the slot in the vertical bumper bracket. On short bed models, align the rearmost hole in the hitch with the rearmost hole in the vehicle frame.
Install a hex bolt and flat washer through the hole in the hitch side bracket into the slot in the bumper bracket on each side. Secure with a block (.25 × 1.5 × 2.0), lock washer, and hex nut. If necessary, install a .375 × 1.50 × 3.0 block between the hitch side bracket and vertical bumper bracket for spacing. Refer to Figures 1 and 5 for proper fastener orientation.
First, slide/push the 1/4" × 1.50 × 3.50 and 1/4" × 2.00 × 2.00 blocks through the end of the frame between the frame spacer and vehicle crossmember, aligning them with holes in the hitch side bracket. Then use fishwire to route carriage bolts through the slots in the frame rail and down through the blocks and side brackets (3 places each side). Secure with lock washers and nuts. Blocks must be in place before bolts are inserted.
Fishwire is a flexible wire supplied with the kit. It is used to route carriage bolts through the slots in the frame rail when direct insertion is not possible. Thread the fishwire through the slot, attach the bolt to the wire, and pull the wire to draw the bolt through.
Yes. On short bed models, after aligning the hitch, use it as a template to drill through the forward holes in the frame on each side. The rearmost holes should align with existing frame holes and do not require drilling.
Yes. The main difference is in which bumper bracket hole to use: use the lower hole for 1500 models and the upper hole for 2500/3500 models, as shown in Figure 1. Additionally, 2006–08 1500 short bed models require exhaust support rod cutting, which is not mentioned for other models.
Check that all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. The manual recommends checking the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners remain tight. Verify that the hitch is securely mounted and that all bolts are torqued to specification (9/16-12 fasteners to 110 Lb.-Ft., 1/2-13 fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft.).
If the hitch is removed, plug all holes in the trunk pan or other body panels to prevent entry of water and exhaust fumes.
Observe safety precautions when working beneath a vehicle and wear eye protection. Do not cut access or attachment holes with a torch. A damaged hitch or ball must be removed and replaced immediately.
Do not exceed the lower of your towing vehicle manufacturer's rating or the hitch capacity rating. For Weight Distributing hitches: 15,000 lb gross trailer weight, 1,500 lb tongue weight. For Weight Carrying Ball Mount: 12,000 lb gross trailer weight, 1,200 lb tongue weight.
Check the hitch frequently to ensure all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. The manual does not specify an exact interval, but regular inspection is recommended.
Yes, it fits 2006–2008 Dodge Ram 1500, 2500, and 3500 models in both short and long bed configurations, with or without OEM hitch.
Yes. Short bed models require drilling two forward frame holes; long bed models require drilling one forward frame hole and one bumper bracket hole. Use a 1/2" drill bit. On 2006–08 1500 short bed only, the exhaust support rod must be cut with a hack saw.
Wrenches (3/4", 13/16", 15/16"), 1/2" drill bit, torque wrench, and hack saw (1500 short bed only). Fishwire is supplied.
9/16-12 fasteners: 110 Lb.-Ft. (149 N·m). 1/2-13 fasteners: 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N·m). Use a torque wrench for all fasteners.
On 2006–08 1500 short bed models, an 18" spare tire requires removal of the tire locator bracket, and a 20" spare must be relocated from under the bed.
Weight Distributing: 15,000 lb gross trailer weight, 1,500 lb tongue weight. Weight Carrying Ball Mount: 12,000 lb gross trailer weight, 1,200 lb tongue weight. Do not exceed the lower of the hitch rating or your vehicle manufacturer's rating.
Verify all fasteners and the ball are properly tightened. Check frequently during use. If removed, plug all holes to prevent water and exhaust fume entry.
Kit F41929 includes: 2× 9/16-12 hex bolts, 6× 1/2-13 carriage bolts, washers, lock washers, nuts, and 4 spacer blocks in various sizes.
This is normal. On short bed models, only the rearmost hole in the hitch aligns with an existing hole in the vehicle frame. The forward holes will not line up and must be drilled. Use the hitch as a template to mark and drill the forward holes with a 1/2" drill bit.
Use the supplied fishwire to route the carriage bolts through the frame slots. Thread the fishwire through the slot, attach the bolt to the wire, and pull the wire to draw the bolt through. This technique is necessary when direct insertion is not possible due to frame geometry.
Ensure the blocks are being pushed/slid through the correct location: between the frame spacer and vehicle crossmember at the end of the frame. The blocks must be fully inserted and aligned with the holes in the hitch side bracket before carriage bolts are routed through. If obstruction persists, verify the correct block dimensions are being used.
Check that all fasteners are properly tightened to specification: 9/16-12 fasteners to 110 Lb.-Ft. (149 N·m) and 1/2-13 fasteners to 75 Lb.-Ft. (102 N·m). Use a torque wrench to verify. Also ensure the ball is properly tightened. Check the hitch frequently during use to maintain proper tightness.
Verify that you have cut the inner exhaust support rod and removed it from the rubber exhaust isolator completely. The cut portion should be removed entirely. If the hitch still does not fit, check that all frame holes are properly aligned and drilled, and that the hitch is being positioned correctly by moving it forward to clear bumper bolts before sliding it rearward.
Yes, a compatible bike rack, cargo carrier or other accessory with a 2" x 2" shank can generally be used. Make sure the accessory does not exceed the hitch’s tongue weight rating, the vehicle’s limits or the accessory manufacturer’s capacity. Account for the combined weight of the carrier and everything loaded onto it.
