Install hitch frame brackets by aligning threaded studs to inner slots of brackets. Loosely install washers and nuts. 7. Frame mounting: slide blocks in place and use pull wires to insert 1/2" carriage bolts through frame slots. Loosely install washers and nuts. 8. Align hitch sleeve with bed hole and torque hitch fasteners to cross members to 212 ft.-lb. (287 N-m). 9. Torque 5/8-11 fasteners attaching cross members to brackets to 150 ft.-lb. (203 N-m). 10. Torque 5/8-11 fasteners attaching forward cross member to brackets to 150 ft.-lb. (203 N-m). Torque 1/2-13 fasteners attaching brackets to frame rails to 75 ft.-lb. (102 N-m). 7. Use outer edges of long slots in forward cross member as template to drill 5/8" holes through truck bed. Prime and paint. 8. Align template holes with previously drilled hole. Center punch holes for bed opening. If bed liner present, cut away section so hitch contacts bed corrugations. 9. Drill 1/4" pilot holes. 10. Cut out truck bed. File, prime, and paint edges. 11. Install hitch into opening. 12. Place two U-block shims (part 5971) between hitch and bed or bed and cross member for bolt support. 13. Drill 5/8" mounting holes through bed and align with rearward cross member slots. Drill 5/8" U-bolt holes using hitch as template. Prime and paint. Use shield to prevent fuel tank puncture. 14. Align rearward cross member with drilled holes. 15. Install 5/8" X 2.50 carriage bolts through hitch, shims, and cross members. Torque to 150 ft.-lb. 16. Install U-bolts with conical washers, springs, and lock nuts. Tighten until 3 threads visible past nuts. 17. Torque 5/8 hex nuts, lock washers, and flat washers attaching rearward cross member to brackets to 150 ft.-lb. (203 N-m).
Slide the forward and rearward cross members between the frame rail and the bed of the vehicle. The forward cross member has two additional holes centered between the long slots. For the 9465/9475 installation, align the threaded studs on the ends of cross members to the inner slots of the brackets. For the 6300/630044 or 8339 installation, align the threaded studs to the outer set of slots of the brackets. Loosely install fasteners until all components are positioned, then torque in the specified sequence.
Isolator tape is used to separate steel from aluminum and prevent corrosion. For the 9465/9475 installation, apply isolator tape to the top side of the cross member and bolt heads. For the 6300/630044 or 8339 installation, apply isolator tape to the top of cross members, around the bottom perimeter of the gooseneck plate, and to 4 of the 8 shims that contact the truck bed. Cut the tape over holes in the cross member rails to allow bolts to pass through.
One side at a time, slide the block (item 3) in place and use the pull wires to insert the 1/2" carriage bolt and blocks into the mounting bracket location through the large slot on the inside of the frame. Pay special attention to the orientation of the round block at the front frame mount—there is a hole on the inside of the frame that allows you to check for proper placement of the block. Loosely install the 1/2" conical tooth lock washer and hex nuts to the frame bracket.
