The Curt 56460 is a powered converter lead system that converts vehicle taillight and turn signal wiring to a 4-flat trailer connector. Yes. You must remove the grommet behind the taillight where the vehicle's taillight wiring passes from inside the cabin to the taillight. Cut a slit large enough to route the new custom wiring end through. After routing the wires, reseat the grommet and use the provided sealant to seal the cut in the grommet and around all wires.
You may need to drill a 3/32" hole if a suitable existing hole is not available. The white ground wire ring terminal attaches to the vehicle body using the screw provided. Drill only if necessary.
The wiring harness uses the following colors: Green for right turn signal, Red for brake, Yellow for left turn signal, and Brown for taillight. The converter also has a black power wire that connects to the vehicle battery positive terminal and a white ground wire that connects to the vehicle body.
