Outfitting your pickup to tow a heavy-duty flatbed or livestock trailer is easy with CURT OEM puck system gooseneck safety chain anchors. Like our OEM puck system gooseneck balls, these safety chain anchors utilize the puck system built into certain pickup trucks today with the towing prep package. They feature a patented installation system, easily dropping into the truck bed pucks without any tools required. They feature heavy-duty cast steel construction with a durable carbide black powder coat finish, and they offer large safety chain loops to accept heavy-duty hooks. These particular OEM puck system gooseneck safety chain anchors are compatible with Ram pickups with the truck bed puck system. They cannot be installed without it. The anchors can be purchased as a standalone item or as part of a complete kit (#60618) that also includes the OEM puck system gooseneck ball, a rubber hole cover and a durable storage case.

The RAM SAFETY CHAIN ANCHORS(REQUIRES FACTORY TOW PREP KIT) (Part #BKDK60617) fits 2013-2026 Ram 2500 models. The 2026 model year is the last year covered by this part number. For newer models, check for an updated version.
The RAM SAFETY CHAIN ANCHORS(REQUIRES FACTORY TOW PREP KIT) (Part #BKDK60617) Refer to the included instructions for installation details. Basic hand tools are typically all you need.
The 60617 is designed for RAM trucks with factory-style under-bed mounts. The manual does not specify which RAM model years, cab styles, or bed lengths are compatible. Verify that your truck has rear-most under-bed mounts before purchasing. Contact CURT Manufacturing at 1.877.287.8634 or CURTMFG.COM to confirm fitment for your specific RAM model.
The kit includes 2 safety chain anchors, 2 × 12mm pins, and 2 × 5mm lynch pins. The 60601 gooseneck ball is sold separately and is not included.
No. The manual explicitly states: 'Always install both safety chain anchors in the rear-most under-bed mounts.' Installation in any other location is not permitted.
1. Align the safety chain anchor with the rear-most under-bed mount on both sides. 2. Lower the anchor into the mount and rotate it 90° toward the center of the truck. 3. Insert the 12mm pin into the top of the anchor and lock it in place using the 5mm lynch pin. Both pins must be fully inserted and engaged. Install anchors on both sides of the truck.
Both rings should face the center of the truck. This is verified during the installation process when you rotate the anchor 90° toward the center after lowering it into the under-bed mount.
The manual does not specify any tools required for installation. The anchors are installed by hand: align, lower, rotate, and insert the pins. No drilling, welding, or specialized tools are mentioned.
No. The manual does not mention disconnecting the battery. This is a mechanical installation with no electrical components.
No. The anchors install into the existing rear-most under-bed mounts from above. The manual does not require bed removal.
Remove the anchors from the under-bed mounts and store them in a dry, clean area. This prevents corrosion and wear.
Never exceed your vehicle manufacturer's recommended towing capacity. The 60617 is a safety chain anchor system and does not increase your truck's towing capacity. Consult your truck's owner manual for the maximum towing weight your vehicle can safely handle.
No. The manual explicitly states: 'Do not tow more than one trailer at a time. This may cause loss of control.' Towing multiple trailers is prohibited.
There should be a minimum clearance of 6 inches between the bottom of the trailer overhang and the top of the truck box sides. This must be verified before towing to prevent contact during turning.
Leave only enough slack to allow full turning without interference. Too much slack in the chain may prevent maintaining control in the event of separation. The chains must be taut enough to control the trailer if the hitch fails.
Ensure the trailer weight does not exceed any part of the towing system. Load should be heavier toward the front of the trailer while not exceeding the hitch vertical weight rating. Never load the trailer heavier behind the trailer axle(s), as this can cause dangerous handling. Ensure the load is secured to prevent shifting and centered from left to right.
Before your first tow: (1) Verify adequate turning clearance between truck cab/box corners and trailer(s). (2) Check that minimum 6" clearance exists between trailer overhang and truck box top. (3) Verify all anchors are properly installed and secured with lynch pins. (4) Verify trailer safety chain length and slack. (5) Verify trailer attachments to anchors are secure. (6) Ensure safety chains and hooks are rated to trailer load capacity. (7) Ensure all fasteners are tight and structural components are sound. (8) Attach trailer chains securely to the anchors. (9) Verify trailer weight distribution and load security. (10) Check tire inflation on truck and trailer. (11) Verify trailer lights, electric brakes, and breakaway switches work properly.
Before each tow: (1) Verify all anchors are properly installed and secured with lynch pins. (2) Verify trailer safety chain length and slack. (3) Verify trailer attachments to anchors are secure and cannot be shaken free. (4) Ensure all fasteners are tight and structural components are sound. Do not tow with worn or damaged parts.
Keep the 60617 safety chain anchor pins lubricated using silicone spray or equivalent to prevent wear and rust. Keep the anchor and under-bed truck mounts free of dirt and other foreign debris. Periodically check all gooseneck components to ensure fasteners are tight and structural components are sound. Failure to maintain your towing system could result in poor performance and/or catastrophic failure.
Vehicle performance, such as braking, handling, acceleration, and turning radius, can be drastically affected by the trailer. Allow additional time and space for stopping, changing lanes, passing, and turning. Severe bumps can damage your towing system, so avoid or drive slowly over rough terrain.
The 60617 is designed for RAM trucks with factory-style under-bed mounts. Verify your truck has rear-most under-bed mounts. Contact CURT at 1.877.287.8634 or CURTMFG.COM to confirm fitment for your specific model.
